MGS HD Collection Vita screens

This game is probably going to end up being the first Vita title on a 8 gig card.

Yeah, I can't imagine this will be a small game to DL. Sony is going to need to drop the prices on memory alittle, and add another tier....like 64gigs or something. Have 2 32 cards right now with one full, and the other approaching.

Think he's talking about Metal Gear 1, and 2, not Metal Gear Solid 1.

I got the PS3 version to get into the series (never played any of them), damn I'm amazed at how well the visuals hold up by today's standards. The textures arent as detailed as today's games, but everything is sharp and looks really good, runs smoother than many games today. The controls are complex but I'm beginning to get them, and as for the game itself I'm starting to really enjoy it (started with 2, then will play 3 and peace walker last), it has so much polish.

The graphics were my biggest fear about HD collections, but this has completely changed with metal gear (this is coming from someone who hasn't touched a ps2 game since before the ps3) and I will probable take the plunge on more HD collections in the future, so recommend me some lol.

Edit: I feel stupid now, I have just done the Fatman boss fight, about five hours in and have only just learned how to manually save using the codec screen lol, Until now I thought I had to rely on times it came up automatically, hence a 3 hour stint earlier waiting for a save point :/

ok, I was going to ask elsewhere, but I'm really considering picking up Peace Walker, as it is the only MGS game that I have not played besides the Acid games. So... can anyone in here tell me how the game runs on Vita? The only thing holding me back right now is the fact that some of the reviews make it seem impossible if you want to play through it all single player, is co-op pretty much mandatory for this?

Does this game have any form of AA like it does PS3? Also, does it have the same trophies as its home console counterpart?

Considering the resolution, I'm going to guess that it will run at 60 fps.

If this image is any indication the game will run at 30 fps. This image is from the february build, so there is a hope the the final buil wil run at 60fps

Perfectly fine with a locked 30 fps as opposed to the wavering 60 we got on console versions (at least for mgs3)

I've pretty stopped playing the console version and am just waiting for this instead.

Well...the title screen in MGS3 is very strange in how it renders.

Still, I would say there is a good chance that MGS3 will be 30 fps while MGS2 is 60 fps. The MGS2 shots are all jaggier than the MGS3 shots suggesting that image quality was sacrificed for performance.

Although you're probably right, I really wished that MGS3 was 60fps like the PS3 HD collection, coupled with 720p that game was like a different experience!

I would hope that they at least run at their previous PS2 framerates. If MGS2 ran less than 60 fps at less than native res on Vita, something is wrong.

Is the dogtagging over all difficulties intact in this version of MGS2?

Serious question. Will make me buy this game again if it is.

You brought it up. :p
I own the game, think it's a great port, but it's super ugly.

Actually I didn't. But I want to avoid that talk nonetheless since I want to buy MK and all that talk about how bad it looks hurts :p

Is there anything in form of an estimated release date?

I'll probably buy this to play MGS3. I'm pissed that they left out Peace Walker though. That game would have a new lease of life on Vita. Particularly if proper online support was included.

Who's to say the title screen isn't locked to 30 while the rest of the game is 60?

This is very common on PC games, the menus show 30 fps, get in game and you are getting 100fps.

He's actually being serious. I can't find a video of it, but it's a real-time animation of Snake doing CQC and other stuff with lots and lots of post-processing that makes it looks like sumi-e.

Huh, never knew that was running real time, wow then yeah, that's pretty impressive.

No clue about the framerate personally, all I know is that the game looks good to me...cannot wait. Tons of content in this, and it's one of my favorite franchises so this is an easy pick up in June.

The guy giving the demo is pretty annoying, but it looks good! Also, when he showed the first person view, it seemed like he tried to move the Vita to show off gyro aiming only to find that it didn't work (which caused him to stammer a bit about a feature that was in every version). I wonder if gyro assist is planned for the game?

Ok framerate experts have at it.
Not possible to tell from a 30 fps Youtube video. At the very least we can confirm that it runs at 30 fps minimum unlike the 20 fps (and lower) 3DS version.

Looking good at the moment, like how they're handling inventory and aiming. Knife stuff might get a bit tricky tho, could see myself accidentally touching the rear pad.

Sorry to be a bit off-topic, but has anyone ever said why Peace Walker isn't included in this? That's the only one I haven't played and was really looking forward to getting it on Vita.

Probably wrong but think its because the psp version is playable on the Vita via DD, this wasn't possible for the consoles.

I imagine it comes down to the game being playable on the Vita already. It's hardly ideal, though; the PSP version runs at 20 fps (and lower), and the HD version was adjusted to take advantage of the second analog stick, whereas playing it on the Vita is going to mimic the face buttons or the d-pad.
