Damnit, it seems like whenever I try to post something neat the thread is stuck in some shitty "debate." Caspel was right, everyone would be better just to keep him on ignore.

I'm sorry.. I catch this pattern too...
Oh maybe you can use that as a sign, everytime you find something neat you will realize there will be some ridiculous discussions going to happen...

well not really...yet
The only thing that TF3 perfected was the art of making a pure, undiluted visual representation of dumbfuckery. I won't defend having a good time seeing that shit at the theater. TF2 was offensive, but TF3 seemed to revel in being laughable.

TF3 belongs near the top of the dumbfuckery bracket. A bracket filled with the likes of Stephen Sommers et al.

I misunderstood what Bob meant by "bracket." I have no problem with his assertion that they're basically the same kind of movie.

And Xia, I don't know why it always happens either. :( I promise I always read your posts!

And if I had to guess how the rest of the podcast went, it'd be 95% shitting on the Avengers with a few obligatory "I liked it....I SWEAR"
I missed this. Eerie. :-O

Surprised at the quality of this. Sorry if posted already...

will totally Facebook friend you! *giggle* *LOL*
How does a solo Hulk or future Avengers movie even have a climax anywhere close to that after that shit?

Better yet, how does any movie?

my god the detail. you can see a new section of rubble every time hes hit, and the hits look so brutal and convincing too. just, damn
Yeah, very true. Watching it like this, it's so awesome how he makes the crater Loki eventually winds up laying in with the first hit.

Wait until you can frame by frame it at full resolution. ;P

Sometimes I'm surprised people get any work done at the office. ;)

Saw it yesterday evening...

With all the hype that got to me, let's say i am only SLIGHTLY disappointed in the movie!

The one liners and the humor seemed kinda "phoned in" to me... other than that though:

It's clear that a movie like this can not be compared with the stand alone superhero movies before it since they are by definition more intimate experiences, they only have to focus on ONE main character and therefore can flesh out his personality much more!

That said, Whedon did the best he could with this and it went a LONG way, i enjoyed the movie very much... RDJ was as great as ever, but then i pretty much got used to him being great by now so that's no surprise ;) ... Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk nailed it, best Hulk so far imo, then i liked Loki better than Loki in Thor.

Anyways, overall it was extremely solid! good job Whedon...

I wonder, is it confirmed yet that we are getting a sequel? I am not a huge comic buff, so i don't know who the bad guy in the last shot was...

The sequel has already been greenlit, and the bad guy at the end is Thanos, one of the baddest mofos in all of the Marvel Universe.

Yeah I agree with Avengers Loki being far more entertaining than Thor Loki. Although that's true for pretty much all of the Thor cast. Thor was just a shitty movie.

I think it suffered from budget issues. There was just no excuse for the little shanty town they built for their pre-climax fight with the robot. Its like they blew their cash on making a believable Asgard/Jotunheim/Rainbow Bridge. Thor is one of Marvel's heavy hitters. Hes going to cause a lot of damage in his brawls. We just didn't get that. It made the movie feel a lot smaller and Thor is just too big of a character for that. And his romance with Jane was pretty tacked on. Slightly more interesting than Portman's romance with Anakin.

Xia, not sure if you can divulge this but it seems like every major character had their CG model done, even Loki. But I cant remember any scenes involving Hawkeye or Black Widow that required a CG model (I could be wrong), were their CG models created/used in the movie?

Turn off your cellphone man. You are part of history, creating a second weekend record by some 50% or more ..

I was posting after the first look crap finished lol. Just got out. Tons stayed for Thanos and a surprising amount stayed for shawarma.

Shawarma joint is closed, so I'm getting a burger from In-N-Out.

Also, loved the dent in Tony's helmet after Thor head butted him.

Traitor! j/k I never noticed the dent, nice touch.

Thanks for blowing my cover, asshole. :p

Just saw this movie a few hours ago. I loved it! I wanted to see how good The Hulk was and he was pretty good. He is my favorite. I hope the next Avengers will be better!!

just got back. showing we went for was sold out, so waited a half hour for the next one (and there was a line to get in. it was a 2d showing).

i thought it was fun. the necessary buildup and introduction to each character was really boring, but i liked the initial bickering and avenger vs. avenger fight, and the action showdown at the end of the film was a lot of fun. lots of badass and funny moments throughout.

You guys really do shit up the thread with stupid arguments.

Summer blockbuster popcorn flick is a bracket.

Avengers was a shining example of what that is capable of much like say, Die Hard.

Transformers, while not great, is still not bad. I honestly wonder how many movies people in threads like these watch if they really think they're the worst things they've ever seen.

Xia, I think I asked you in this or another thread but are you an animator or something for ILM, right?

Just got back from seeing it. Loved it. I need some time to process it, but it's probably my favorite film in the series. I'm very glad I waited to go to a 2D showing.

Enjoyed all the character banter and interaction, I think that's what really solidified the movie for me. (Would of liked to see Hawkeye interact with everyone more, but obviously the plot was a bit of a barrier to that.)

Son of Coul... :(

So many gratuitous shots of Chris Evans's ass, I approve. Whoever designed his wardrobe deserves a medal. (That tight blue number after Loki escapes the Helicarrier? Yes please.)

A+, will watch again (numerous times), I need some shawarma.

I absolutely hated Transformers 2.

I feel like reading some good ol' cheesy 90's Marvel. I'd appreciate some recommendations (from their app's store).

Infinity Gauntlet? Wars?

Yes, and yes. (the first yes being harder)

Do not read whatever comes after, I'm actually blanking on it now even though I just looked it up.

I just watched it again in 3D. Some thoughts, 3D was crap and waste of money. Loki was better on 2nd viewing. His mannerism and his expression is amazing.

Saw it this afternoon.

It was very good. The script worked. The banter and dynamics worked. The action was great.

But in the end I subjectively didn't like it. I mean, I get summer popcorn blockbusters, but I just felt nothing after watching it. It felt like a waste of time to me - the same kind of feeling that I get after playing video games for 2 hours sometimes. I guess I'm growing old.

I also wondered if this movie needed to exist. It seems like this story would've been fun in a comic book or a cartoon - did we really to translate it to the big screen with humans? I'm not sure.

By the way, the costumes, monsters, and especially the Leviathans all looked like they belong in Kamen Rider.
