What is the source for that?

If they really are re-editing the movie then that is fantastic.

Missed that little tid-bit. Excellent.

Edit: LOL. The source for THAT is comicbookmovie. Then they've pulled the ol' 'removed story at the request of the studio' card to try and give it legitimacy. :lol :lol :lol

Even if the review is fake, I think anyone going into the theatre expecting a masterpiece is making a mistake. That's unfair to ANY movie.

Personally, I'm just glad to have a decent alien movie again.

That could also be a mistake :p

They have now replaced the 'review' with a NSFW picture

UPDATE: Fox say they have not screened the movie for anyone, and are still working on the final cut. They believe the below review to be a fake.

They have already received and accepted an R rating... they are still working on the cut...

There is no proof they are still working on a cut. IMO comicbookmovie are pulling the 'studio made us remove our review' disclaimer to try and give legitimacy to their fake review.

How is Fox saying they haven't screened the movie for anyone giving legitimacy to their fake review?

Them putting up any FOX disclaimer as an excuse for them taking the review down is meant to make people believe that FOX wanted the review removed. Studios don't normally force the removal of fake reviews and I don't believe FOX ordered the removal of this. The film debuts in some countries in under two weeks and I doubt they're going to wait for the MPAA to review another cut, then start getting all the prints produced and sent out this close to release. I believe the cut is locked.
Don't get me wrong, I would be pleased as punch if they were putting a fuller edit in, but I don't see it happening at this point in time.

Yeah but people aren't assuming the cut is still changing based on CBM's "review removed at studio request" BS. It's because Fox came out and implied CBM or anyone else is full of shit if they claim to have impressions of the movie, because they haven't screened it for anyone.

If I see that news confirmed with FOX by ANOTHER source, then I might give credibility to it. But comicbookmovie is pretty much the worst source for any film-related news. The amount of bullshit stories they've come up with for hits should attest to this.

I didn't even want to click the "review" to gawk at it's fabrication, because my view would give them ad money.

A REALLY good write-up on Scott and Prometheus over at THR.

I don't remember ever hearing about this:

Prometheus dawned when Scott told Fox Filmed Entertainment co-chairman Tom Rothman that he wished to revisit the territory that had been under his skin since he was bypassed for 1986's Aliens, the sequel that propelled James Cameron's career. "I was really pissed off, frankly," he says about the old wound.

Read it cautiously if you're on spoiler watch like I am.

Never knew he was bypassed on Aliens. That is crazy.

Edit: BIG spoiler half-way into page 1 in that article!!!

DON'T READ THIS but here's what mentioned:
ksfhaklhfkljsdlfhsdhfajlsdfasjkldflasdfhasjkldfThey are shown a clip where a de-capitated android head is speakingsdfhlashfjkshdkfaskljhdfklasjhdfkljsdfsa

If he had done Aliens, it'd be like the butterfly effect. James Cameron would have done Alien 3, and David Fincher would do Alien Resurrection after having done Se7en and thus more creative control.

Man, fuck whoever decided to pass Scott up.

To be fair, nobody had ever written a good sequel script until Cameron himself wrote Aliens. This was while Terminator had just released in the US and he was in a pretty good position to secure himself as director.

God dammit sculli, I hit the link before you edited about spoilers and got a huge one in there :(

I thought captain spoiler alert would be more cautious

Apologies. I had only started reading the article when I posted it. I figured that as soon as they started typing 'In a scene where..' most people would get the hint that they're about to describe a scene from the movie.

I just thought that if a link made it through your filter it was good :p

No prob. I had seen all the theatrical trailers so I assumed that it was something from those. I was wrong, I was so wrong.

What are you talking about? Comicbookmovie doesn't write anything themselves, they just re-post things written by...virtually anyone on the internet.

It's not a spoiler to say this film is about the "Space Jockey" species, at least, is it?

Unless you've managed to ignore the media since last year?

I watched the trailer for Alien the other week. I hadn't seen it before and was vey surprised how misleading it was, in regards to the film's actual plot.

If the Prometheus trailers are similar (and I suspect so due to Ridley S.) we know bugger all. Apart from "Spaceships, aliens and stuff" as Rose Tyler once said.

The link to the article on THR does have spoilers of sorts which folk might want to avoid, as the article contains information not apparent in trailers/previous interviews/etc.

Booked my tickets for the midnight showing on release day, IMAX is worth it just for the visuals alone lol

Bought the Alien Vault off amazon to hype myself more :)

Its interesting that the marketing for this movie doesn't emphasise it as being within the alien series.

That'd be a bad idea. Tell the masses that it's an ALIEN movie and they're going to show up expecting it to be a straight up prequel with the commonly known xenomorphs in it.

Not like the Alien name means anything anymore after hacks like Joss Whedon and Paul W.S Anderson left their marks on it.

Different people working on a project, different results. People shouldn't look at something like Alien vs. Predator and then worry about something that a completely different team is working on, especially one headed up by the Academy award winning director who made the original -- which is why I imagine it also says "from the director of Gladiator." That's why I hate it when people dismiss a sequel to something that a new team is doing because "the last one sucked." The "last one sucked" because the people who worked on that particular project didn't do a very good job.

The poster saying "from the director of ALIEN" should clue people in on the fact that this isn't more Alien vs. Predator bullshit. That being said, I know what you mean, people are dumb.
