So... A friend of mine called this morning to wish me luck for my operation (I'm hospitalized :/) and guess what, he's working on a Wii U Game. Got a couple of tidbits about the game, but he'll call me again this afternoon to have a chat. Yay, maybe I'll be able to join in the "dropping hints" fun :D

Get well soon, Dash!

Yes, join in. And take care.

And apparently companies have started releasing that kind of info under NDA. Pachter indicated as much in the Sony Bonus Round video.

Isn't there supposed to be a new Luigi's Mansion? Perhaps that's what he saw. Zelda or Yoshi shouldn't be surprising either. I really hate teases like this. If people saw something, they should just spill it.

That's for 3DS though. This tease is Wii U related.

Some or all of what I said there was untruthful, sadly.

I don't know what to believe anymore. That's a good thing since it will be a little while before I play it.

Lol I'll say anything is possible without getting him trouble (and me not burning bridges) because it'd be easy to link him with me if one was looking into it

BTW.. I called it last night. The leaks and clues are going to be much more steady from here on out. Welcome to the new normal for this thread! :)

(and heal well, Dash! Take it easy!)

Thanks buddies, going into op in bit, fingers crossed :)

I bet it's NinjaBread Man Rebaked. Damn, this thread keeps delivering!

Ahah, not quite but...

I can't say it enough- please, Retro, give us another Metroid game. I've played through Corruption around five times now. I've waited long enough!

I'd love another lonely masterpiece from them. No online needed, no commanders, no squadmates, etc. - make it an intense, almost meditative experience, filled with exploration, punctuated with moments of sheer terror, haha!

We know Retro can do this. And damn well.

If not this time around, I hope it's their next game. I need Retro Metroid once more...

OOooohhhh man...

I wouldn't mind an online mode, but yes, there doesn't have to be one.

I've been thinking about Nintendo franchises having crossover themes(similar to the crossover outfits in SF vs Tekken), and Mario having another dream would pretty much explain any and every bit of craziness that happened. No real cross franchise characters showing up, but things from their universe would. Solely in theme, as it would still play like a Mario title at it core and be a platformer.

Mario with Pit's wing's when he flies?
Shy Guys with Majora's Masks?
Wart with Soda Popinski's drink?
Koopa Troopas dressed like Captain Falcon...and the winged ones can knee you?
Bowser with a....I don't know...a fucking Screw Attack!?

They could still name it Super Mario Universe

Edit: You know, the Shy Guy bit might be too creepy...

Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.
The Club Nintendo thing sounds like their attempt to tackle used games.

The system would also tie in with retailers in an attempt to reduce fraud. Upon purchase, the code is scanned into a computer at the retailer. This tells Nintendo that the product was purchased legitimately, which is of special concern in regard to Nintendo point cards. If customers register a product on Club Nintendo but later return it, the Club Nintendo coins for that product are removed from the account. If a customer has already spent those points, he/she will be disallowed from returning the product

I love the idea. I would like to see that idea with Link as well, but as an action game of course. But your idea is seriously great, it would be such an epic undertaking though, at least the way I'm imagining it.

How would that stop them from returning the product though? Wouldn't it just be like the Online Pass or something, where you just couldn't have multiplayer? Or are you saying something more dastardly like it will be used as an always online DRM type measure?

I agree with your edit.

And your post reminds me that I want a Super Smash Bros. RPG.

That's... interesting.

No, you got to keep that. That would make the level memorable. A game like that would need to have really distinct, varied, memorable levels that feel deep and just huge in scope, even if they're not huge in actuality, just make sure they feel huge. It wouldn't be hard with the source materials, but it must be a main priority.

By the way shouldn't you be getting ready to make Thread VI? It will be here before we know it.

I've been mostly done all week. Timing is insanely tight for the rest of the month. I'm just hoping that this thread keeps it's pace of late, as I vanish from the Internet on Thursday. At this rate, thread will close as I'm leaving for my off-the-grid vacation.

Just imagining Shy Guys with MMs bothers me.

I have a feeling that would be a horrible move for Nintendo. I don't think that's something they would go for, especially now that they are going after the 'core gamer'. I know that I wouldn't be pleased, as would many others.

About one out of two games I buy are used, and would not have bought those games new if I that was my only option.

So Nintendo was tweaking the hardware to handle UE4, is that what all the GPU additions were about? Extra hardware to handle lighting and particles, I guess that would make Epic and Crytek happy.

It's expected that there is going to be only so many engines as time passes and no one has time to build them. Why not put in hardware for the popular engine(s) and if anything goes wrong that hardware can still be used.

What if you beat the game, and after the credits, it shows a close up of Mario sleeping. He slowly awakens as the camera pans back farther and farther...

*gasp*

He is laying in Link's bed from Ocarina of Time! Even the color palette and style look like a Zelda game, while Mario still looks a bit out of place(while not just looking like a cheap pc mod). They let you control him around the room, and when you go to open the door, he looks out and says "Mama Mia" in a concerning manner.

"...Fin...?"

Agreed. I was hoping that Nintendo would stay away from the issue for as long as possible so that the other two could tackle it and put pressure on themselves.

But it won't hurt me personally. I don't buy used, and I don't sell.

You need to have a even bigger twist though. As he says "Mama Mia," it pans out to reveal that the world around him isn't Hyrule, but rather a small town. As Mario ventures outside an looks around, he sees a young boy with a yellow and blue striped shirt, and red baseball cap. Cut to black.
