There's always the possibility they AIM for Vita, but get it on PS3/360(/Wii U?) as well. Seems to be an accepted strategy, at least in the inverse, but we'll need to see how those games pan out first.Atlus isn't going to commit financial suicide by putting a main Persona title on vita.
fairly sure P5 is on PS3.

You never know.
It might be on the 3DS.
I wonder how many tears would spill if it happens.
Software sells hardware to people more than anything else?
What a novel concept.
Perhaps it's PS3/Vita.

See this thread? No meltdowns. I don't think Persona 5 on 3DS would cause many mental breakdowns either - most people are mentally prepared for stuff like that by now, even if they don't like it.You never know.

Could be GBA/PS2.
If you are so eager to play a SMT title why not just import Strange Jourmey ? DS games are region free and it's been out for years. It had to be on the region locked system of course. We are still waiting for Strange Journey.
I don't mind it being on handheld, I don't mind it being on 3DS, but at least let me buy it.
Pretty sad. Now I'm forced to choose between the hassle of buying a USA system and buying every 3DS game from there or waiting for someone to pick it up in EU. meh.
Still, excited, hope we get more info soon.
No way, putting Persona 5 exclusively on the 3DS would be a Namco style blunder. You never know.

It's not like the rules have changed because of that.I really don't know if such a thing would even be surprising anymore. DQIX on DS was pretty much the "all bets are off" tipping point and it's remained that way ever since.

Yeah, people would bitch. But to get an impact like back when DQIX was announced, it'd probably need to be on iOS.Oh but I see meltdowns in here too. At least, "mini" meltdowns. And Persona is currently--I don't like it, but it is the current state of things--a much bigger and prolific franchise than core Shin Megami Tensei, so I am guessing people's reaction will be much stronger if it's about Persona.
Sure, people are mentally prepared for lots of stuff, but that doesn't necessarily mean they will stop bitching about it anyways.

Dragon Quest IX was a different, albeit similar, case.Lots of people said stuff like this as well for Dragon Quest IX.
*Shrug*
It is not certainly something that is beyond any realm of possibility. Especially if the 3DS keeps gaining steam in Japan. You'll never know what ATLUS might decide in the end.
Strange Journey isn't even fit to touch the ground Nocturne walks on.I'm excited, but this is because I REALLY enjoyed SJ. That's the only SMT game I've played. I've tried tracking down nocturne, but haven't really gotten anywhere with that.
Given that I loved SJ, would I like the other SMT games?

Wonder what the chance of a PAL release is, given that we missed out on Strange Journey and Devil Survivor.
Persona is a spin-off series. What's the difference between Shin Megami Tensei 4 and Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4? I don't know this series.
archnemesis said:Shin Megami Tensei series
The main series. They're typically first-person dungeon crawlers in a modern-day post-apocalyptic setting with demonic overtones and mature themes.
1992 - Shin Megami Tensei (SNES, PC Engine, Sega CD, PS, GBA, VC)
1994 - Shin Megami Tensei II (SNES, PS, GBA, VC)
1994 - Shin Megami Tensei if... (SNES, PS)
2003 - Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne (PS2)
2009 - Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey (NDS)
20XX - Shin Megami Tensei IV (3DS)
Persona series
Persona is an offshot which shares many of the same systems of the original series while trying to make it more appealing to newcomers. Much of it is derived from the schoolyard setting, focusing on a group of high school students in modern day Japan. There's a much great emphasis and characterization, with your party always consisting of human characters.
1996 - Revelations: Persona (PS, Windows, PSP)
1999 - Persona 2: Innocent Sin (PS, PSP)
2000 - Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (PS, PSP)
2006 - Persona 3 (PS2, PSP)
2008 - Persona 4 (PS2, PSV)
2012 - Persona 4: Arena (Arcade, PS3, 360)

Check out Nocturne, which is the highlight of the franchise and third person. Thanks for the info. First person dungeon crawler? Not for me then. Persona seems less repulsive.
Nocturne had a third person camera, though. Thanks for the info. First person dungeon crawler? Not for me then. Persona seems less repulsive.
Nocturne was third-person with an optional first-person mode in new game plus. We still don't know the perspective of this game. Thanks for the info. First person dungeon crawler? Not for me then. Persona seems less repulsive.

"Mara, hit 'em with your Splash Attack!"
You should have said that in the first place. -_- The Persona games are dungeon crawlers too, they just have more outside of the dungeons.I'm not into dungeon crawlers at all. I just wanted to see what kind of game it was.
I really hope they redesign this system, though. I don't want to buy a peripheral for a second analog stick.
I think the implication is that he does not currently own a 3DS.You need a second analog stick for SMT?
