Do women see extremely muscular men the same way men see anorexic women?

I think that's hot, but I'm a gay dude.

Anyway, as far as the threat topic goes. I say look the way you want for yourself and not to attract other people.

Gotta be happy with yourself before the right person will be into you. I'd want someone to be into me for the way I am/strive to be, not because I'm trying to please others.

P.S. Muscle is hot.

I'm a gay dude as well hi5.

I'm sick of people talking about confidence. Confidence is a feedback loop, it doesn't just appear like magic.

Depends. I know a guy who is pretty fat and he's super confident. He has a hot girlfriend actually.

But his parents have a lot of money...

Gotta envy people like that. I would not have any self confidence if I was fat. I have issues now and I look pretty good!

Duh? Getting fit builds confidence. Being better than average builds confidence. Not being an out of shape loser builds confidence.

Anything that makes you "better" builds confidence.

Not always. Some people get depressed from comparing themselves to others.

I don't enjoy the bodybuilding aspect very much, as I think it feeds exactly this. But right now I am trying to learn to deadlift, just so I can become stronger and better at Jiu-Jitsu.

I realize that I will never get those crazy bodies they have on the MMA and Muay Thai teams in my gym. It's okay. I am not them, and I just try to be better than I was yesterday.

edit; me trying to learn to deadlift. not going well.

He's not incredibly muscular, but he is still pretty built, and he also has a perfect amount of body hair. He also has incredible shoulders.

[edit]I think the above picture must be just after he wrapped up PoP? He was ridiculous in that film, a bit too much tbh.
Really that's after PoP?

Then, I think his 2005 Jarhead body was better then his PoP body.

Vigilant, I see bodybuilding as exactly that. Improving yourself day by day.

I cannot deadlift for shit without wrist straps. I can get up to like 225lbs before my fingers just die.

There's nothing better for ripping off calluses.

This thread is just becoming a question of what men respect and what works. Back in the old days, people used to go to the gym to get big and musclar because it was to push a limit. Th bigger the body, the more dedication you had.

Now we got these sad excuse for men who just aim for just abs. or a little muscle. it doesn't matter anyway. if you were going to the gym. you would understand you can't stop at just little muscle. you want to know if you can bench 135 one week then 185 the next.

don't understand the appeal of being bone skinny. their weakness seems like they are abusing the benefit of society's generosity.

alot of dumbass comments about muscular guys here.

I wanted to quote this for how ridiculous it is.

well that's good. I lost a lot of strength a while back after I broke my arm fighting in a tournament. It was a bad breakage and it never fully healed. Psychological damage and nerve damage after they cut me open and and inserted a 40 inch aluminium metal plate to fix the bone which had splintered.

until 3 months ago it would still hurt when I tried to open a jar of peanut butter.. 1,5 year after I broke it. It sucked bad.

When I started dead lifting a month ago, the girl next to me who was small, took twice as much as me. People around me laughed at me, and I just laughed with them. It made me think - Look, I ain't that important. It actually is pretty funny that a little girl carries twice as much as a 6'6 dude.
I am beginning to think that feeling humbled or fighting your own ego is not the same thing as viewing yourself as a victim of others greatness. I truly am happy and impressed with what others achieve.

I truly just think that it's toxic for my mind to end up focusing on these things.

Keep working for it, man. You sound like a fighter.

I like how many posters here think that a competition level physique is something achievable without serious commitment and dedication...and drugs.

And just as many think it would be easier to do the whole 5% BF Fight Club/otter mode look.

Those types of people should probably just give up then.

Yes, you could argue this, but let me ask you mate;

Don't a lot of people you see in the gym do it to get the affection of other people? I mean - How many of them genuinely think it is fun?

When I started doing martial arts I was sure that I was going to become this:

Ong-bak%20-%20Tony%20Jaa.jpg

Tony Jaa, a thai boxer movie star. He looked insanely cool, his acrobatics, flexibility. Even though it was all film it was unreal.
Plus, a lot of women were on the MMA and Thai Boxing teams. They did/do it for the exercise and because it's safe, exotic and fun and everyone can feel like a bad ass after punching a bag for a while.

But as I started doing it, I actually found out that I had more fun doing this;

Nz08B.jpg

In fact I loved it, but I almost gave it up because of my own vanity. Nobody would think that ground fighting looked cool. That didn't gave any creds, and I would be able to score any admiration points for it. the appreciation, understanding for it was much lower and it was much more of a "mind barrier" that had to be passed when rolling on the floor with other sweaty men.

So from my experience I think you are right. I think people who are at the gym who do it out of need should find something else, and care less about doing something they don't enjoy. There are so much fun things people can do to give them an equal validation.

I don't claim to be at a point were I don't compare myself to others. But I hope to get there some day. I just wanted to say that I totally think it's worth it to go with what you think is cool and what gives you pleasure every day. And I think in some strange ways, that your body, your expression, your glimse in the eye, your soul and your articulation all will change or become morphed depending on what you choose to do.

If kayaking becomes a big part of your life, or gymnastic, or swimming, your body will look different. It might not be Brad Pitt, but it might be something even better.. for you.

Keep working for it, man. You sound like a fighter.

Thanks! That's a cool thing to say.
The hardships really make you grow. My losses, and defeats truly have made me stronger.

It's objectively easier than having a body builder body while being at that "fight club" body fat.

Yes, you could argue this, but let me ask you mate;

If you're going to go into the gym just to feel like shit because people are stronger/more fit than you, you should just fucking quit. There's always someone stronger/more fit than you. Always.

The type of person that gets depressed when he goes to the gym because someone else is "better" has other issues to deal with.

Edit: The "you" here is a general you and not you (Vigilant Walrus) specifically.

both look ridiculous. what th fuck are they trying to prove?//

Wat?

The guy on the bottom is trying to win a competition...

He has the dnp but is not using it yet. Keeps saying that he wants to while he's juicing on this other stuff. It was either deca or dbol on top of all the rest. Can't remember. He keeps trying to get me to try it but it's not my thing.

He is taking a huge amount of this stuff. 900mg of tren each dose.

He's about 6'4" and 250lbs. Pretty big dude.
why the hell would he use DNP while on AAS? Its for losing weight, nothing more. And its an extremely harsh compound.

And if your numbers are accurate he is insane. Haha

I stand by the rest of my post. If you want to exercise, why would you limit yourself?

Because a) I would be happy with a certain size/strength in regards to my overall physique and b) the upkeep for such a pursuit is expensive and time consuming. There's no real point to it, personally.

And I have a bone to pick with this:

don't understand the appeal of being bone skinny. their weakness seems like they are abusing the benefit of society's generosity.

You do know it's much, much harder for some of us to gain than others, right? I sometimes can't afford 3 square meals a day now and when I used to, I couldn't gain that much more anyways. I was absurdly skinny at one point, and largely still am. How am I abusing "society's generosity"?

Others were able to make your point much more eloquently, and without the need for randomly insulting others.

Finally, you would think that a gym enthusiast would ENCOURAGE others to go to the gym to get in better shape, not look down on them because they aren't going as far as you are.

This is a stupid post. It doesn't matter what motivates a person to go to the gym. As long as they do and they are consistent at it, why is it matter if they do it to look better or to get stronger? At the end of the day, it benefits their health and their confidence.

Also, you are insulting those who are not as lucky in the DNA shuffle. Everyone who lifts weight know that muscle gain varies from person to person. And even when you gain muscles, it's really hard to achieve that ripped look because it involves a diet that not many people can afford either due to their work schedule or lack of money.

And if a person choose to be skinny because they don't find the big muscle look to be attractive, who are you to decide that they are less important members of society? We are not living in the stone age where muscles are that required for most of our work. The majority of our work these days require strategic thinking and knowledge more than brute strength. Unless, of course, you're in the construction business.

Sounds like something someone that's never gotten down to 5% BF says.

I've gotten to ~7% using LeanGains, just earlier this year. Easy as hell. I do not have a fast metabolism, I used to be fat as shit.

what a ridiculous statement. Maybe for you. But not everyone works that way. I can gain muscle with ease but I struggle with my weight constantly and have to count calories every single day.

Gain muscle with ease, huh? I'm guessing you're the type of guy who thinks he can put on 20lb of muscle in a year.

They are accurate. Last time I saw him he said his balls had shrunk to the size of small marbles. Next dose of tren he wanted to try 1100mg. It's just stupid. He says he doesn't want to have to wait to look good. He's extremely insecure, in a lot of ways the opposite of me -- even though he is much stronger! He puts up 300+ on bench, I am struggling with my own body weight (190lbs).

He wants to use the dnp because of persistent fat around the back of his waist.

He always goes overboard. Last summer he was dropping about a gram of molly a day, but that's a whole different story.

To say theres no point to invest in your own health I believe is bad.
Sorry for insulting you, it does look bad, but i was attempting to those who actually aim at to be below recommended body fat, models and such. you have a body, you train it to protect what you find important.granted this isnt the middle ages anymore, but i complain of those who look like easy targets,YES THEY DON'T DESERVE IT.but they should put better effort.

what exactly is better? isn't it better to ask little more of yourself everyday? for someone to just do one push up everyday isn't really a achievement if they aren't aiming for two eventually.

That's the problem with most people and fitness in general (hell, in life!).

It's a lifestyle change, a marathon, not a sprint. He's only hurting himself in the long run.

Some people like plateaus,I don't. Agree about its nice for the health at the end of the day. I'm ignoring the DNA comment. If you liked something, you would make time for it. You can do pulls ups at the park. then ending with i rather take the smart ,built guy than the skinny smart guy at the end of the day.

So before you got big there were no guys there that discouraged you or intimidated you?
If not, you are a better man than me.

When I first started I will admit there were certain guys that discouraged me. Only certain types I guess because most were inspirational.

I lift to get big and look good. I do it for myself but also for the admiration from others. When people start noticing that you are in shape and comment on it.. It makes it all worth it.

Nope, I went in knowing to focus on myself. Never have I gone in and felt discouraged or intimidated by those who were bigger than me, now I'm one of the biggest guys there when I work out. I also follow a program that forces me to check my ego at the door, I don't even do maximal work anymore. Jim Wendlers 5/3/1 if you're interested.

I agree with your last statement, it always feels good to get that compliment, no matter who it's from.
