Well, if you're focusing on more recent games, definitely. And I was so happy for this gen when they announced that the PS3 would be region free...:/ On the other hand, I guess that this kind of games are now more easily released worldwide as digital downloads, and no importing is needed.

Yeah... I'd say a lot of the wacky stuff has gone to digital download (XBLA, PSN, etc)

The first thing I thought of when I watched the video of that Suzuki Bakuhatsu pickup above, is that this looks like some of the random games you find on the iOS App Store (either the Japanese shop, or at least with an untranslated kanji title :p)

Not nearly as sexy as a weird PS1 import disc... but I wouldn't say these games have died, they're just in different formats now.

IBM Model M - Buckling Spring Keyboard

I got it off eBay for £69. I've wanted one probably for about 10 years or so.

Oh man, I used to have one of those about 15 years ago with a 486 and a UPS that my dad brought home for me to take apart (it lived a hard, hard life on a construction site, and the inside was full of dirt/dust)

Seeing a pristine one has blown my mind. And also reminded me of the glorious noise the keys made. Good find. :D

The Journey Collector's Edition:
3 great games on a single disc with a large amount of bonus content!

Darksiders II - Limited Edition:
And the first Darksider free as a bonus game!

I still use mine. Not exactly pristine, but still working as good as new. I had one problem with it when I spilled Cola on it and it stopped working. Used another old mechanic keyboard for a while and found my Model M after a year or so while cleaning.
Tried it out of curiousity and it worked perfectly! Haven't had any problem with it anymore.

Wait, I didn't know Darkness 1 game free with the game if you get it at Walmart! Did you pick it up at launch, or later on? Maybe I'll head over there and pick it up if they're still giving out 1 for free.

Yes, it was a special package as a promotion for the launch of Darksiders II only at Walmart.

But where I went this weekend they still had two bundles, so I picked one.

Ah, I guess I'll have to check out my local Walmart to see. Thanks for the info!

Pickups from the last 2 weeks. It'll be a lot better when I'll get my own card reader back again, I hate having to wait to post stuff.

The label is definitely exactly like the official version of the game. I honestly don't care that much as long as the game works and saves, which it does. However, I'll probably open it up at some point just to make sure.
Yours looks exactly like mine, I'm sure yours is an original as well. Just as some more proof here's a pic of mine:

sexy. gonna pick up the BatPod too?

Already Flexpaying it. Will complete the entire TDKR cast in 1/6 format somewhere.

I don't have room yet, but in the future I wish to get a partial 1/6 diorama of the TDK bat cave to put the Batmobile in.

Just got my first job ever today, so I'll be contributing to this thread a little more often.

Also, just saw the 3DS XL in person today. It's GLORIOUS. So much better than my stupidly small screen on the 3DS

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
Took advantage of Gamestop's 50% bonus trade values; gave them my PS3 vanilla copy for $16, and paid the ~$14 to upgrade to the (supposedly) superior 360 GOTY version.

I also had a $10/off coupon for a pre-owned game; and managed to snag NSMB2 for about ~$23.

Someday, I shall build a new PC again. I haven't made one since 2005 I think. Don't really have a job right now though, just college.

I bought lots of doujinshi recently, to review on my blog.

Ns5XF.jpg

Chromatic Gate (left) is a pretty nice anthology of full color illustrations of characters from all of the Xeno- games! Definitely recommend it if you're a Xeno fan.

Just found this Super Rare NES game at the Flea market yesterday, cost me $5!

I know they came out in black/light blue weird looking carts, but for some reason this one is in a normal Nintendo grey cart...

Anyone here have any information or knowledge about this game? Having a hard time finding any answers online. Thanks!

Nice find. If you need more info check out NintendoAge.com. They are really knowledgeable, though the community itself is less than stellar.

Thanks! I was able to find the artist behind the game online, and this was his response, if anyone is curious:

"That certainly doesn't look like any Color Dreams cart that I remember. Like you said that's an official Nintendo cart. We were almost sued for patent infringement on the cart design. Perhaps someone took the ROMs out of the CB cart and put them in that one, and then slapped on the label. That's all I can think of. $5 is a pretty good deal!"

cool, but nintendoage can fill in the details, just don't let them lowball you. they are some scuzzy fucks over their.

Thanks! Shot those with my Fuji X10.

Your Fuji X10 shots put my Canon 60D/50mm f1.4 shots to shame :(

I'm still sort of new to photography so I'm learning and tinkering around with aperture settings and shutter speeds. I just bought a 430EX II external flash, so I'll be messing with that to hopefully give my pics some better lighting inside my house.

Eh, I'm *FAR* from being even close to a pro. But I was a journalism major in college, and so I had a fair bit of hands-on time with the equipment, and some practice in framing shots. So, those things help.

The 60D and a 50 1.4 is a good setup. With a little practice, you could easily snap pictures that outshine mine. Personally, I tend to avoid using a flash whenever possible. Try to shoot fast, low ISO/slow shutter shots for a clean look. A tripod and remote trigger will help a lot.

Good luck, and don't spend time comparing your shots to others - there will always be LOTS and lots of people better than you. Having fun and making yourself happy should be at the top of your priorities. I'm certain you'll be taking pictures that blow those two I posted away here real soon!

Here's what I picked up this weekend for $20:

Here's my attempt at a Danielsan style photo. =P

And here's my attempt to recreate a childhood:

I'm trying to get a bigger Genesis collection than I had, which wasn't much, and I want to get a working N64 and do the same for that. Maybe I'll ask my brothers to pick up some games for Christmas for me to help out with the collections.
