So what are your bets on the iPad Mini? My guess is:

$299 - 8 to 16GB - VGA camera for Facetime (no rear facing camera at all) - no Retina Display - maybe the same resolution as the iPhone 5

I would guess $349 as a price, but I don't think Apple ever launches anything at $x49 prices.

sorry but as someone who has used android extensively, there is nothing remotely on the level of Facetime. Not sure why that was included.

Come on people. You're trying too hard. Like what you like. End of story.
Maybe not on the same level, but functionality wise, most definitely comparable stuff is there.

You can't deny this is Apple's approach to marketing. It's pretty clear how they frame every announcement and it works. Once Apple does something or puts their spin on an existing idea, it's a much bigger deal. And they most definitely let you know.

EDIT: Just to be clear, ain't nothing negative about this approach either, but it's just Apple's way to make a big deal about everything even if it's minuscule. It's part of the reason why they're so successful.

The touch is $299 now so I doubt it the iPad mini will be $299.00 as well.

Haha, pretty witty. They should've removed the cable in the back, though.

Looks way less sexy on a photo. don´t want anymore.

The white front only works well with certain colors imo, like blue. The charcoal version is still pretty sexy imo.

The new iPod touch is what stole the show, though. It's kind of amazing imo;

I think the new black version looks great. I would gladly take an android with those dimensions (I agree with the one-handed design philosophy and thankfully the new xperias are quite similar)

The rest of the changes and hype are laughable

If I do the wipe and load to get iOS 6 GM, then will I be able to upgrade to the final release next week without having to wipe my phone again?

4th generation Touch is still $199, and being actively marketed. 5th generation just seems like it's for people that want a huge screen and an HD-quality camera.

There's no point in even making the iPad Mini if it's $399 or more. At that price it cannot compete with the Nexus, Kindle Fire, or even the 10" iPad 2. I suspect they will have an iPod Mini that's been mostly gutted of all the iPod Touch's high-end features. Less storage, no camera, etc.

the GM is the final version.

unless there's some crazy weird and devastating last minute bug. but it should be the version being loaded onto iPhone 5s being sold in stores in 2 weeks.

This is my next phone mofos!

Going white iPhone 5 this year, then I'm going to alternate every year afterwards. White + silver looks slick as hell.

Also, that new iPod touch is sexay. I don't need one, but I might get one for the fam.

No opinion on the new Nano. It looks like they just stretched the old Nano.

The price kills it.

I'm waffling about the Nano. I hate iTunes with a fiery passion, but since my Zune broke I've been without a dedicated media player. I really dislike the white front, so black is my only option. It's either pick one of these Nanos up or find a used Zune. Decisions...

Okay thanks. I just didn't know if it was a little different developer version that wouldn't allow me to update my phone normally to future revisions of iOS6.

Yeah, not a fan of the new Nano. Especially as I'm using Spotify or MOG (flip flopping) offline for my music consumption nowadays - even on runs.

The pricing of the iPod Touch brings questions about the iPad Mini's price point. They're certainly different devices, but it seems silly to have a $199 or $250 iPad Mini with 16 GB to a $299 32 GB iPod Touch.

iPod Touch looks great. The price is completely reasonable for what you get in the package.....the problem is that they just loaded it down with stuff I don't want to pay the extra price for. The camera seems completely superfluous, as does the 4" display and 32GB of storage.

I would much prefer a model with the same body and styling, but without all the features that exist only to drive up the price.

I think at this point it's impossible to manufacture on the scale that they do and still keep things secret. They haven't had a launch that wasn't seriously compromised in years.

I think it also hurts that they announce all those new iOS6 features at WWDC. So instead of being wow'ed by stuff like 3D Maps at today's presentation, the press just gets annoyed. "Yeah, already saw that - what's next?"
Totally agree.

If anything, I've come away thinking they should start announcing the new iOS along side the phones. I'm sure the betas are helpful, but maybe it's time to keep them in-house.

I think these new Nanos are going to surprise people with the OS. It's the first nano to actually have a comparable version of iOS. Seems like it could work quite well for some people.

But yeah, the iPod touch prices are unfortunate. They should've kept around 16GB just to have a $200 entry level.

That's impossible. It's absolutely vital that dev's have time to work with the new API's and features.

Does anyone know if Apple/ATT stores will be getting the iPhone 5 in on the 21st? Or is that just the date it ships... I'm trying to decide if I should order it online or go to my local Apple or ATT store to order this.

That's when 5 officially launches and will be available in stores. When I pre-ordered my iPhone 4 it showed up on my doorstep a day earlier than the launch date, and same for a friend who got the 4S at launch. I'd guess the same will happen again. There's really no reason to not pre-order and have it shipped straight to you if you can. Unless you like waiting in long lines.

So how will devs signify optimised apps for the wider screen? Optimised for the new iPhone 5 or something, but does that mean apps will carry more assets?

jts

...hate me...
The Verge say the iPod Touch has the exact same display as the iPhone 5 this time.
That kinda explains the new price, looks a lot more upmarket too.

Come on Apple, slap a 3G chip on that, $400 price tag and get over with it.

Weird. Gazelle offer on my 4 is 45$ MORE today than it wasa few weeks ago. I figured the estimates would plummet after the announcement.

Awesome, thanks for this!

Is this from apple.com or att.com?

So no NFC after all.. they could've made an inspiring/futuristic video out of that which would've gotten people excited a bit.

Also, I think I won the glass raised bet. ;p
