Love or hate it Call Of Duty Black Ops II is one of the systems biggest games releasing day and date with the New Wii-U console. I know some of you are tired of the game but getting a "feature" complete version of the game one day one is a major accomplishment for Nintendo to gather back some core gamers.

So While I am sure that there will be an official Neogaf thread headed up by someone other than myself I thought this would be a great resource for those of us who are looking to get the Wii-U version of the game.

There are so many un answered questions about the game on the Wii-U and not a lot of details out yet, but I will try to keep this thread updated with the newest details about the Wii-U version.

If you have any questions about the game, comments or new information that should be in this post please leave it below so I can add to our Q&A section.

Also for the record I am only going to cover the Wii-U specific features of the game in this thread Killstreaks, maps and other features will not be discussed.

This post is a WIP till I get caught up.

WHAT WE DO KNOW

  • Call Of Duty Black Ops II is being Developed by Treyarch and not farmed out to another studio for a port.
  • Game will release day and date with the Nintendo Wii-U (November 18th)
  • Features all of the same content as the PC/PS3/Xbox 360 versions of the game including a nonlinear story and zombies mode, it's full online multiplayer modes and even the new eSports features.
  • 60fps on both the TV and gamepad simultaneous when playing split screen is the goal. (Close to that now).
  • Local multiplayer will support both traditional split screen on TV (up to 4 players) or one player on TV and one on Gamepad..
  • Wii-U Gamepad will be utilized to show radar can view multiplayer maps, call in score streaks and choose loadouts as well as check on friends.

    Gamepad_COD_Killstreaks.png

  • Controller Choices: GamePad, Wii Remote, Classic Controller Pro, Game Pad, or WiiU Pro Controller

Question We Don't Have answers for

  1. Will The Game be in 1080p 60fps or 720p or some other variation of screen resolution. (rumors peg 1080p but nothing is confirmed)
  2. Will you be able to play splitscreen or 1 player on the gamepad and one on TV while playing OnLine? (Im guessing yes to at least splitscreen as they stated the game is feature complete with PS3 and 360 both which will support this)

My biggest questions about the Wii U version are directly related to what Nintendo is gonna announce as far as their online infrastructure. Other than that I can't fucking wait, looks like Treyarch is really putting in effort on the Wii U.

Going to go with the 360 version since Nintendo hasn't discussed anything about how online works with the Wii U. If it's as good as XBL then I'll consider getting the next CoD on the Wii U.

We still don't know anything about WiiU's online (which, one month from launch, is stupid), which will make or break this game on it.

I've played all of the CoD Wii games (mostly as curiosities, usually 360 or PC are my main systems)

The actual play isn't what I am interested in, because that has been solid. I am more wondering if with the Wii U launch will we finally have one name across games, how will Treyarch be doing the map packs for Wii U, things like that.

Can't say I have, no. Always went with the superior console version ;)

my experience online with the Wii COD was great treyarch did an exceptional job of creating an online experience which was basically non-existent on the Wii to begin with. with that being said, if the Wii U's online is even a small step better than the Wii's everyone should be happy.

Treyarch always puts their best effort on Nintendo systems. This isn't a big surprise :)

well I'm pretty certain that we'll have names across games since it was showcased in that Miiverse video from the pre-e3 nintendo direct. other than that I have no clue though its not farfetched to say that map packs will be handled through the e-shop as the Wii U supports dlc.

My aunt & uncle run a Mom & Pop store, "The Gamecube Hut", and sold 80k WiiU within minutes of opening.
I have a question:

How many bad guys, in total, will there be in the single-player game?

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about Rayman Legends Wii U.
I won't be buying it, but I have to say, it's nice to see COD equality among all gaming consoles at long last.

Also, I demand stats for Wii-mote players vs. Pro Controller Players!

Vonderhaar then deflected a question about the Wii U version and the resolution and frame rate it will run in.

"I can't get into the Wii U details because the Wii U monster will have my head," he said. "As a title that's getting worked on to go with the Wii U at launch, the relationship between Nintendo and Treyarch here is actually nearly sacred, and it's really important all the information about the Wii U and Black Ops for the Wii U is developed and given to you in tandem."

He added: "I can tell you though that there's no lead SKU, and the 360 and the PS3 and the PC versions are all simultaneously developed by the same group of people. And we're playing all three of those platforms all the time in the studio."

I'm not doubting Treyarch's work, but Nintendo. I didn't like the fact that Wii didn't have a single universal username, DLC (I don't like DLC that much except when it's on sale :D), and cross-game chat. I think the Wii U will have these, but I'm going to wait and see how Nintendo handles all these aspects.

A great player with the Wii remote/nunchuk will most likely dominate against a dual stick player. The Wii remote IR sensor is way faster and more accurate than any stick could hope to be. Don't get me wrong, it's hard to master, but once mastered there is no going back to dual analog.

Exactly what I want/expect to see. :p

Not that anyone here knows this (or anything about the Nintendo Network on Wii U), but I was wondering if BLOPS2 will be using the allies system from the last two Wii CoD games or if it would just tie through the Wii U friends list. I hope the later.

Have we gotten any details on how the game pad will integrate into the single player title? Tons of potential here. It's got all these remote gadgets and even an RTS mode in there.

Fairly certain cross game chat is all but confirmed at this point. Same thing with a username based account system.

The Treyarch guys wouldn't shut up about the game being Full HD (1080p) on Wii U, not sure they'd make such a big deal out of it if it was just the same resolution as the others.

Well, isn't CoD usually sub-HD on consoles? 720p would be an upgrade above the other consoles and also a real HD picture. Not sure if you could fit that into a 'Full HD' description, but I have my doubts. If the game is actually 1080p, then I'll be very pleasantly surprised, but I'm keeping my expectations low.

This and this! I felt so rambo going around head shooting everyone and making stabbing motions on Blops Wii...

this thread is of interest to me. i am seriously considering my first COD purchase when I get my Wii U. tell me of zombies, how much content can i expect for my $60? is it likely to have the sort of replayability between online and co-op for the zombies mode to get me my monies worth by itself?

the fact they never said 1080p doesn't give me any hope. full 720p would be nice enough.

They said Full HD.

Full HD means 1080p.

Well, technically.

But yeah, considering COD on consoles are sub-HD (do they really want 60FPS that badly?), 720p 60FPS would already be a big improvement.

Did they directly state that the game is running natively in 1080p? Because I seriously doubt that. It's more likely that they were simply referring to the fact that the game is in HD at all (as opposed to the Wii, which had no HD support).

I would gladly get a COD game again. Last one I owned was MW2, but I stopped buying multiplayer games for the Xbox because I really do not like to pay for online gaming. Maybe this one will be fun and, more importantly, free.

Neither of the guys that talked about CoD at that Nintendo even were from Treyarch. One of them is a producer at Activision and the other is the CEO of Activision Publishing. I don't think that Treyarch has actually talked about the Wii U version (as you can see from the quote I posted above).
