Romeo Crennel again said Monday that Matt Cassel will be the starting quarterback for the Chiefs when they play Baltimore on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium.

But Crennel also left open the possibility that backup Brady Quinn could play against the Ravens. Crennel said the Chiefs might give Quinn some of the starter’s work in practice this week.

Crennel also laid out in general terms what it might take for him to bench Cassel and replace him with Quinn.

“At some point, as a coach, you go through and you see what’s happening in the game and how a guy is reacting and how he’s responding to what’s happening in the game,” Crennel said. “If you feel he’s inept, constantly making poor decisions, bad choices, then that’s when you move on from him and give someone else a chance.”

The OP was missing something. The most anticipated game of the season. The return of Peyton vs Brady! The rivalry is renewed!

Browns are gonna shock the world!

You'll see! You'll all see!

We don't have a chance of a win until Haden gets back. We'll be 0-5 as we face the Bengals at home, the last game before Haslam takes over. Haden will be back for that and he always plays angry against Green. That game we have a chance of winning, but not against the Giants at MetLife!

Nice OP. I haven't read it yet but I'm trusting Buckethead to be deserving of this highest of praise.

Welp, I feel better for missing most of that disaster of a game last night. Romo gonna Romo. (sigh)

Also, awesome OP Buckethead!

“If you feel he’s inept, constantly making poor decisions, bad choices, then that’s when you move on from him and give someone else a chance.”

Huh...maybe Jerry Jones could learn something here.

"God let's lose on.."

Midwestern edumacation.

I predict Manning will throw a lot of mortar passes into the hands of our deficient DB's hands.

Bears offense showed signs of life yesterday, and the Dallas D is nothing to sneeze at. However Cutler is still the QB. And the defense gives up too many yards/completions.

Last time I assumed a cakewalk against the Browns, I drove out to Ohio, got to behold the splendor and beauty that is downtown Cleveland, dine quite fine in the Browns mezzanine suite luxury buffet area, and then watch a shitfest of epic proportions.

At least the HOF was awesome?

Tannehill gonna be Tannehill and Cincinatti's the better team anyways.

And I like Andy Dalton.
Tannehill has gotten progressively better as the year has gone on and the Dolphins should be able to run the ball successfully against the Bengals D. Reggie Bush should be back to 100% as well which should help. Obviously the Dolphins are the underdog here but if they play like they've played the past 3 weeks they will have a great shot at winning this one. Now, whether or not they actually finish the game is another story...

But yeah, Andy Dalton seems like a pretty cool dude.

LOL at you guys picking the Eagles over the Steelers.

They are coming off the bye, better coaching staff, better QB, and Mendenhall might be back. Not that he is amazing or better than McCoy but we all know Reid is going to reverse course and "save" McCoy for the week following.

Though if somehow Eagles manage another win, the next opponent is DET. You can air it all out against them Andy!

Good article on Coughlin "confessing" what he felt was a mishandling of the end of the game against Philly but not apologizing for being aggressive:

In hindsight, even Tom Coughlin admitted he was probably wrong.

Maybe he should have run the ball to try to set up the potential game-winning field goal against the Eagles rather than let Eli Manning throw his ill-fated deep pass.

That’s why when he met his beaten team on Monday morning, hours after the Giants’ 19-17 loss in Philadelphia, Coughlin told the players, “I’ll start the meeting off by talking about my sins. And that’s one I’ll confess to.”

“What we’ve been able to do - with success - has been to continue on the attack,” Coughlin said. “We feel quite frankly with our quarterback that’s the way we should play.”

“We always say ‘Try to get as close as possible,’” added Eli Manning. “If you can score a touchdown, you try to score a touchdown. That’s the mentality that we have. You see a lot of teams get to the 30-yard line, then all of a sudden get conservative and then you’ve got to kick a 48 yarder. Those aren’t guaranteed. So you want to get as close as possible to try to ensure the win.”

That’s been the Giants’ philosophy for most of the Coughlin era and definitely since Kevin Gilbride was promoted to offensive coordinator for the start of the 2007 season. The Giants are a pass-first team that’s not afraid to take shots at the end zone.

I thought throwing was the right idea. But the up for grabs hope for a PI pass to Barden was dumb. Don't know if that's on Coughlin or Gilbride. Coughlin's an offense guy so I've always figured he's had a strong hand in the gameplan

I can feel the Vikebike starting to rev up, fellas. About to take the highway to victory town. OH YEAH!!!! VIKEBIKE BITCHES!!!

Thank God for a bye week. I can enjoy a Sunday for once

He approves and has a hand in the gameplan, yes. Gilbride has joked during a few interviews that Coughlin is in every offensive meeting and pushes to adjust the gameplan to run the ball more. He's also admitted that if he was left to his own devices, he would pass the ball 50 times.:D

I didn't mind throwing the ball either, but I questioned its aggressiveness. A simple route to the outside for 8 yards and get out of bounds. If it's not there, kick the 44-48 yarder. A run isn't a guarantee either. They could just have easily gotten a holding call to put them 10 yards back.

Something that's lost in all of this, Barden dropped a perfectly thrown slant the play before that would have gained a first down and made the entire thing moot anyways.

LOL the refs were not going to call holding in that game. They let some crazy holds go throughout the game.
