Resident Evil 6 Ships Over 4.5 Million

I don't think it would hit that 7m goal even if it was best game ever, very optimistic target, I guess they thought sales would grow as much as 4->5 somehow. sell through will be interesting to see still, I think it will debut a bit lower than 5 everywhere.

FWIW, I really have no idea how this game is going to do. Is it review proof like Transformer movies? Is it a vocal minority of pissed off survival horror fans and people who are tired of AAA video games making most of the noise? Or do people really not like it?

Didn't this game come out like yesterday?

Why are people so sure of the overall quality of the package already?

Played a bit at a friend's earlier today and it seems like a solid game most people will enjoy. No more or less than 5 was.

Changes the formula quite a bit though so I'm more interested in 6 than the last game having played it

>> cvxfreak @cvxfreak
>> I hate to say it, but RE6 is a huge, steaming pile of mediocrity.

It must be true, when even cvxfreak is not on board.

Who?

RE expert, super fan, and the guy who made the thread your in. He tweeted that.

So now we KNOW the game's not good. And FYI the game was leaked in Poland and the street date was broken in lots of places last week. Aside from that, there were two pre-release demos. A lot of RE6's issues are down to basic mechanics and game design. You don't need to play the whole game - you don't need to play half of it - to get a fair idea of what's wrong with it.

But is not a bad game...

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Game is mediocre but fun. Doesn't seem really polished though.

Not in the grand scheme of things. Compared with Elf Bowling, that is.

this line should be a song title by Capcom band..

Whatever. Mediocre. Average. Par. The game is meh, but there is one incontrovertible point: it is a bad Resident Evil game.

The game has a lot of flaws, and definetly is not the best resident evil game ever.... But is still fun and there's plenty of good ideas in the combat.

Is a solid 7-8 game.

A bad game is ORC, not this.

I appreciate the vote of confidence, but every opinion is equally valid. ;)

Except Jim Sterling. Holy shit.

So he's just another guy

alright

I think it's crazy that people treat another person's opinion as objective fact in a discussion about entertainment but neogaf I guess.

What are its issues?

Didn't people have a bunch of huge issues with 5's design at launch?

Seems like alot of people here want to hate it

Already like you for not being as crazy as your followers or SUPER FANS or whatever. lol

Capcom execs will think they are right and continue with the direction they're going with Resident Evil.

Dev: "But sir the fans.."

Management: "NOPE. Sales say you're wrong. More QTEs, more cutscenes, more shooting."

I think you are taking this way to personal. I trust his opinion, on RE, more than others. I also trust my friends more than every game reviewer in the world, but they all share the same opinion on RE6.
For the record: I liked RE5. I only hated the QTE. (Only played it co-op with a friend)

lol, so much hate.

"It's not how I wanted Resident Evil to be!!"

I Freaking love it so far.

Did Leon 1-3, Chris 1&2, Jake 1-3 and a bit of coop mercenaries.

So far, this game is great. I like RE5's art-style more, but the game is a great action game with a bit of horror thrown in.

I reckon if they made a GTA in the RE world and it wasn't that scary and didn't have inventory and had different controls, people would hate on it regardless of how great it was.

Sometimes a brand can be a curse.

I don't know if anyone noticed this, but Jim Sterling is also really fat. Like, really, really fat. Dude should stop playing video games and go running.
What the hell is this?

Anyway, I get the feeling that people will be more willing to give this game a try if it gets a good price cut (which seems will be the case), it has it's flaws but there's some good fun in it.

The atmosphere and co-op, but almost everything else about 5 was solidly built. No one could deny it's graphics, gunplay or how entertaining it was even if it lacked horror. It was a great third person shooter and a mediocre Resident Evil. Six barely steps up to mediocre.

How so?

Like I'm just genuinely curious what people don't like about it

Since I just played it and came away from it enjoying it more than 5 at least

I seriously can't see what's so much worse about it than that game

For a change Sterling actually made sense. His review sums up everything horrible about this game.

I assume people (RE fans for the most part) generally dislike the direction the series is heading. Sort of like if MGS 5 played more like Gears of War. It might not be the same style, but people will judge it as a whole because they dislike the idea.

Well that was a tedious read :x

Seems overly reductive to me. but answers my question I guess

Retailers buy the game from the publisher. It's not a worthless statistic. This shows that the game, almost surely, is already profitable.

No, a company as large as capcom doesnt get to go JOKES ON YOU MOTHERFUCKERS and run away laughing when retailers cant sell a game

And this is why capcom doesn't give a fuck. The RE name is big enough that the next 2 installments can be just as bad as this one and there still will be a return on investment.

But no, judging by the reception (even sme of my casual gamer friends are dogging this game) it will take a while for retailers to burn through those 4.5 million and I'm not expecting them to hit that 7million goal this FY.

But the game was never going to be a failure no matter how bad it is.

NB: Even if it was a excellent universally praised game, it would run the risk of being discounted really early, simply because of what time of year it's launching. Saying that you happy that it will be $20/30 in a months time doesn't mean much because even if it was doing well, it probably would have be put down to that price anyway.
