I've never played an AC game before, and this will likely be my first.

I do have a copy of City Folk lying around though, which I haven't gotten around to. Everyone is always pretty down on it, but I never could tell if it was just because the game is too samey or if it's actually bad. Should I give it a try, or just keep waiting?

Mostly too samey, you can't collect NES games, and it's not portable. The series is a serious timesink which is why the DS entry did so well. If you don't mind playing on a TV then really, do give it a try. It is the best version of Animal Crossing in terms of content, well, until the 3DS game comes out anyway. At least you'll know if Animal Crossing is for you.

Ask me which Shakespeare novel is best
Game looks fantastic, but the localization wait doesn't .
At least we'll have Paper Mario to tide us over 'til next year.

Totes making a Samurai village though.

I may have missed it, but has the whole issue of animal tracks/desertification been addressed? I really hope that's been done away with.

Ughhhh why can't this localization be faster? It's so stupid how slow NoA is with this... I mean, if Pokemon can manage to come out only 4 months after the Japanese release, AC can come out sooner than thatttttt.

What was the business about that gyroid outside fenced off?

It's a building spot. You choose where a building or object (like a fountain or hedge) will go, but it doesn't build right away. A gyroid and fence will appear, and a donation fund is set up to build it. Villagers will walk up and donate to it, and you can donate money yourself.

I love everything they've shown. There seemed to be a special tree that gets planted in that video and a few other new things. I would love to know what that's about.
IIRC it's the tree you plant when you become mayor of the town - sorta like your first act. It will then grow along with you as time goes on. It's the big tree on the Japanese cover.

Cool thanks.

Animal Crossing: Wild World was the major reason that I bought a DS in the first place, and Animal Crossing Jump Out has a high place on my list for 3DS, particularly after seeing all of the new features that they're adding. I'll definitely get it through the eShop when it comes out, as this is the kind of game that I want to have on my system at all times.

Thanks for the advice, I'll probably pop it in and give it a whirl then!

Looks really good, I'm excited. I just wish NoA wouldn't take so long with the localization! I'd get myself a Japanese 3DS but the darn prices are high

Animal Crossing is the reason I bought a Gamecube, DS, Wii, and a 3DS. I would've bought a N64 sooner had that version been localized.

So glad proper holidays are back. This time, I'm definately going to get all the chirstmas furniture from Jingle, I always failed on the Gamecube >_>

I think its all the new footage off the website edited together and put to music, so not an official trailer but close enough.

That tree (also on the box art) is a tree planted on your first day as mayor/first day of the game.

Yeah, so glad to see holidays in here - yay for Halloween and Christmas' return!

They haven't really gone in the direction I'd like the series to go, but I think the substantial weight of additions (I can't believe I'm saying that about Animal Crossing) will ensure that I'm pleased overall with the title. I can't wait to play it.

Jesus Christ I remember the amount of hours put in Wild World. Glad I skipped City Folk so this installment feels like a great sequel with stuff added to it. Plus, portable = win. Cannae fucking wait.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage

I put 100 hours into City Folk. This is absolutely still a sequel with stuff added to it.

I'm not sure if this was in the Direct, but it seems like you can take 3D in-game pictures.

Holidays? Ice-creams? Coffee? QR Codes? 3D Photos?

Game of the forever.

For those (few) people buying the JP version who have JP Club Nintendo, pre-registration for intention to purchase begins this Thursday.

News from this week's Famitsu:

- 9/3 is weed day; an event starts when the gardening shop is open. Removing all of the weeds in the village will earn you a special item.
- Wendell (Seiichi) the starving artist will appear and give you a pattern while you're dreaming at the Dream Mansion.

Ordered a new SD Card for this today so I can day 1 digital this. No where near enough space on my current one >_<

I'm hoping It goes up at 12AM Japan time as that's 2PM for me the day before, if I get it early enough in their late night maybe I'll be able to avoid server problems.

Has there been any mention of a turnip market or something similar? Buying and selling at higher prices in other peoples towns via WiFi was one of my favorite things to do in Wild World.
