Halo 4 leaked?

How about No. A KZ3 vs Halo 4 graphics comparison can have it's own thread. Why do you feel the need to corrode this thread with gamefaqs drivel

I would be much more interested in hearing about gameplay from the leak.

This isn't a VS. thread.

Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aH0jLdGDxVs

You can see the motion capture scene and the result in the game.

Watching this video makes me want to go out and buy a 360 and every Halo game... However I know that the previous games won't live up to the hype I'm getting for Halo 4.

Halo 3 is the only in the main series I didn't play all the way though... I may just watch the highlights on youtube and then try to play this somehow... it looks incredible!

I just wanted to emphasize how great Halo 4 looked and nothing more. Let's just all agree that Killzone and Uncharted look great...
Let's not -- this isn't a thread about games with amazing graphics whatever the platform. You needn't justify yourself to the SonyGAF children why you lauded Halo 4's graphics in a thread about Halo 4.

Can anyone PM me links to some SP videos that show off some cool stuff? I don't care about spoilers unless they're huge plot spoilers.

The fact that H4 is being compared to the most graphically impressive games of our day speaks volumes for 343.

It's a first party game with a huge budget, huge team and had lots of time at the tail end of the generation. What is surprising?

Being compared to a 2009 game says more about the other game IMO.

It just so happens that the best looking game came out in 2009. Cant really compare it to something recent that doesnt exist.

It's surprising since it's been said so many times that while the 360 shines in multi plat titles it's still a fact that high quality first party titles on PS3 always look better than the best looking games on 360.

We'll see about that after actually playing it. The game could be the best looking thing to ever exist, but wouldn't matter unless it actually plays better than Bungie's Halo games.

I don't think Reach was a Patch on 3 and in 4 the fundamentals of what make Halo feel like Halo are still there so they would have to Catastrophically fuck up for it to not even meet Reach. It seems super unlikely at this point.

Argh, between Halo 4 and Forza Horizon I think I might have to pick up a cheap 360... Again.

Game looks awesome.

It does make you wonder how games will look at the end of the next gen cycle.

I'd say Halo is more impressive graphics wise because of how open it is, Uncharted and Killzone are very linear, which makes it easier for a dev to focus on the graphics.

I'd agree with that. Uncharted looks amazing but it's a much more controlled and linear experience - you're in narrow alleys/caves/trains/enclosed areas much of the time and that's how Naughty Dog is able to pull off such amazingly detailed graphics.

Halo 4 looking this good while having (I assume) large-scale environments is pretty impressive.

So that racing game in 2007 never existed... Damn.

Hint: I really wish Bizarre Creations weren't disbanded.

That good art is timeless?

I'm impressed though, you're just dismissing an accomplishment instead of straight up trolling the 360 for once.

No, it's not.

I find it amusing that one single game can make people react and feel the need to prop up their system of choice.

Yup.. a sandbox engine + 4 player online co-op.

Doesn't Uncharted looks worse on co-op missions? And TLOU looks even more 'controlled'.

Actually LoU looks more dynamic (at least with the AI) and is said to offer more open environments than Uncharted.

Exactly, you can see the crazy detail in the Halo cutscenes, which shows just what you can pull off the more you control things

I personally thought Halo 3 and Reach didn't look impressive in terms of graphics. But Halo 4 looks amazing.

No one thought Halo 3 was technically impressive for its graphics. Reach might have been were it not for its smear filter that made everything look blurry and flat.

I think they both can look great at times, but H4 is in another league. I'm not going to join in on this Halo vs KZ vs UC nonsense, but compared to the preceding games in its series, Halo 4 is definitely a step up.

Whatever "technically impressive" means, I don't know. "no AA?! omg jaggies!" But Halo 3 and Reach are fucking eye candy as far as I'm concerned. Yeah, Halo 4 looks better. They still looked fantastic to me. I feel like I should be thankful I'm not a spoiled graphics prostitute.

Native 720p, for one thing.

They were both impressive games for other reasons. Both were astoundingly ambitious, and filled to the brim with content other games only dream of.

I am mostly a PC guy, but I found even H3, maligned since its launch for its visuals, strikingly beautiful at times.

The idea that something is inherently less appealing to the eye simply because it's subHD is not an idea I can get behind.

It depends. 3D graphics generally look better when they are being rendered at at least the native resolution of whatever screen they are being displayed on.

And I can agree that Halo 3 and Reach would have looked even better if their native resolution was higher.

That's more of a problem for fixed pixel displays. (LCD)

Not a problem at all on a HDTV CRT. Even a game like Call of Duty can look crisp on it.

480p games aren't blurry either.

I remember the first time I played Halo 2 on my 360 with VGA cables hooked up to a CRT monitor. It looked amazingly crisp.

I wish I still had it.

Halo 3 looked pretty good for its time imo. The most impressive being its skyboxes that were detailed and animated. Tsavo highway level with the spinning clouds over the forerunner artifact, looked cool as hell and really added to the atmosphere (no pun intended )of the level.
Reach was pretty solid graphically as well, only things i disliked was the weird grain filter ghosting thing it had going on and the desaturated colors H4 is on another level , the art direction especially is the best in the series so far. And 343i didn't sacrifice the color.

Yeah, that's what I mean.

But that's only a small part of it. Fidelity and detail increase as you up the resolution. Halo 2 on X Box may look crisp on a CRT, but Halo 2 PC looks much crisper on my PC at 1080p.

Halo 3 (and ODST) was a dog the day of release, 640P with no AA is just too poor of IQ to hand wave away. I don't care about HDR, you don't notice it like edge aliasing which is in your face. Reach is much better, but the temperal AA is bad for IQ and headache inducing, they needed FXAA back then.

Sounds like Halo 6 will finally remedy IQ issues.

Halo 3 was a very uneven game graphically IMO. At times it looked very nice, other times it looked like shit, especially the character models.

I want to shake your hand simply for not posting the same old Lord Hood close-up shot everyone always uses to "prove" Halo 3's graphics sucked.

The worst face in the Halo series is that thing Buck was flirty with in ODST.

I admit, until Halo 4 I never looked at a Halo character's face and thought much of it.

But come on. Romeo's face was more horrid than Dare's. He looked like a meatloaf with eyes.

To get this back on track....

If I was a 3rd party dev (or big publisher) I would be pissed that Microsoft takes such a laissez-faire attitude towards pre-release play of their titles but go ape-shit banning people left and right (seemingly in real time) when their own title gets leaked/played pre-release.

On the other hand I don't know any other title has a long and storied history of being leaked so incredibly early in advance, going all the way back to Halo 2.
