He means not enough shooters. Of blood. Or brown/gray games.
Keep milking those characters, Nintendo. This guy will lap it up.

I don't get it either. I own a PS3 and will own a PS4 (not to mention a gaming PC in the first place). WiiU might get bad versions of 3rd party games, but I won't be able to play Kirby U on any other system ever, that's why I'm buying one eventually, not because of the specs.i still don't understand why anyone cares? we pretty much all have a 360 and PS3. i personally dont need a third system doing the same crap. the only people who should be thinking about this kinda stuff are exclusive nintendo owners. theyre the only ones that need to be mad about any of this negative news.
What good new IPs do they make on consoles?
Unless you are a really big Nintendo fan, I would never recommend having a Nintendo console and nothing more.
for devs: similar hardware = easy porting = more moneyAlso don't understand why people want all the hardware to be so similar. Seems pointless...
Wasn't third party support one of Nintendos main points during the announcement at e3? I get that they'll still have their first party lineup, but they deserve shit for not developing a console that can handle third party games since they're the ones who pushed that as a focus with the U.
for devs: similar hardware = easy porting = more money
for gamers: multiplatform titles = less need to own multiple consoles = more money for more games
These guys don't know what the fuck they are talking about. They clearly don't have the talent to utilize the revolutionary edram and gpgpu. Wii u may struggle with quick ports of current gen games but just watch those next gen engines fly.
Overall above, but different enough that comparing every component to every equivalent component it's not going to win out in all categories. Games built around the other hardwares' bottlenecks and ported over without major modifications are going to run into different bottlenecks and end up the worst of both worlds. So Wii U is below current gen? On par? Above?
The Wii U seems such a compact system in some areas, but ultimately fails in others.
A next-gen console that can't even handle ports from 7 year old hardware.
Brilliant.
Owning both HD twins is a-okay, owning a PS3 and a Wii is not.less need to own multiple consoles
*sigh * I'm a fanboy.
So basically, if you go to the Wii U as an ignorant consumer with no real expectations of what a modern day gaming console should do, you're golden.Your reply pretty much confirms you are the GAF crowd. Nitpicky about graphics and details, slightly bitter. You should look in the Wii U impressions of friends and family, it's a whole other world.
Third party games don't have to be ports. 3rd parties can develop for the hardware. Maybe Nintendo didn't want a port machine
What do you even mean by that?
If you would just pay attention. The wii u is struggling with current generation engines because its architecture is too advanced.
Didn't they optimize their engine a lot this time around? Not like Metro runs all that well even with a good rig. This is still disheartening to hear.
GPUs really can't do that much general processing. They can dump physics and video processing on the GPU but it's not going to boost performance across the board in the general case. This is what I see, the Wii U has a more powerful GPU with 4x ram (counting the OS ram) of the 360 but slower but has the architecture to help the ram, the CPU is confusing but has help of the GPGPU and more modern architecture.
That's what I see.
Keep milking those characters, Nintendo. This guy will lap it up.

If your a fanboy at least own a PC so you can get some of the other stuff that Nintendo will never have access to.
I heard that argument for the PS3... see how well that went.
Then why did they highlight ports during their conference? The inference was that they'd finally be getting the same games PS360 do so consumers can enjoy those games in addition to their usual first party stuff.
lol really?
So due to that no one can still be disappointed that a system that costs over $300 and was released in 2012 is this way?
I also don't get the whole "power is only something that hardcore GAF people care about". That's not true at all. There are many "casuals" that notice the difference between the usual generational gaps/improvements.
Ofc but didn't they say they improved their engine a lot ?noone really knows until they play it
I'm pretty sure it's sarcastic.Scary some people actually believe this is true.

it sure is.
priced for them, too.
I'm sure they've got a few new patents just for the streaming technology. Oh and I'm sure they made sure to protect the rights for the U in the WiiU logo.

Heh, I think they wanted it. they spent a significant amount of time talking about "core 3rd party support" during their conferences.
Heck, some of the people currently defending Nintendo are basically going against what Nintendo said they wanted to do.
"Why did you guys expect this from Nintendo?!!?!?!!"... umm... because of what they said during their conferences? There was much more of an obvious/upfront focus for having (core) 3rd party support for the Wii U before release than there was for the Wii during its early stage(s).
Third party companies tend to create new IPs at the start of a generation. Nobody is upset that Nintendo keeps making Mario/Zelda games the problem is theyvdontbreally make new stuff. Only very rarely.Because surely 3rd parties don't makes the same games from the same IPs all the time! They aren't artistically bankrupt!
(Looks at Call of Duty, Battlefield, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, Sonic, Resident Evil, 007, Assassin's Creed games lining the shelves)
Nope, no milking going on at all in 3rd party land.
I doubt they got any patents related to this, the iFixit teardown already identified that the streaming tech is just a Miracast chip.

Isn't that largely what the other two do as well?
Reality for some of you is really hard to accept for whatever reasons. Calling this designer or developer names or swearing you're having a great time with the console doesn't change the fact that the Wii-U doesn't have impressive specs/efficient specs hardware wise for the year 2012.
I don't like PC gaming. I don't like the idea of always having to upgrade cards and since I keep my PC separate from my home entertainment center, the idea of having to be tied to a computer desk to play a game on a small(ish) screen with ho-hum audio doesn't appeal to me.

I'd rather be having a great time than discussing something as rigid as raw numbers on a board.

Yeah, "lol, really." Put aside the trolling and look at things objectively as I tried to do in that post.
Nowhere did I say people couldn't "be disappointed." NOWHERE.
Also, nowhere did I say that "power is only something that hardcore GAF people care about." Read it again.
