Xbox Live Countdown to 2013 sale [begins Dec 18th]

about 400 off was what I had expected, skyrim is doing well enough where it doesn't need to half price but the steam sale price the other night was better value at 50% off if you wanted it on pc.

80 ms saving on the home DLC sucks though, I have it and hardly access the areas, the default home the game gives you is enough.

Not sure why that would matter considering the likes of Trials Evolution has sold a lot of copies yet went with 50% off. Bethesda are tight arses and have let a great deal period go out on a serious bummer.

Hopefully nobody picks up the DLC.

I was excited for a half-off discount on Skyrim DLC, so I'm pretty disappointed and will probably skip it. Does anyone even think Dawnguard worth 1200 points?

I stocked up on points in anticipation of non-terrible deals for Skyrim, now they're burning a hole in my pocket. I'm thinking the other DLC pack for Trials Evolution, and maybe the DLC for Hydro Thunder. Is that one worth while?

Count me in for the disappointed Skyrim dlc brigade. You'd think they'd want to have the best deals on the last day to leave a good lasting impression.

Ugh. I was just hoping for 50% off but apparently that was too much to ask for. Guess I am not buying any Skyrim DLC for a while.

god damn it. i read some posts on the xbox forums saying that some people just could not download it, and decided to buy it anyway..

purchase went through and the active downloads screen pops up. 0% . . . "unable to download bully"

cleared the cache, deleted the partial download file, restarted console and download, nothing is working. guess i'm out 800 points..

finally got it to download, yay!

i ended up going to bully's game page on xbox.com and clicking the 'download again' button over and over until it started.

So... I just grabbed Dawnguard for 800 points. I loaded a page that said 1,200, clicked the link that said "learn more" and it changed to 800. I bought it real quick and it checked out at 800 points.

Keep an eye out for this.

Hmm... Really tempted to go for VF5 FS. I got it as a Plus freebie on PSN several months back though, and generally feel as though I'm better with a PS3 pad than a 360 controller or my 360 TE Fightstick playing VF (or Tekken).

Alternatively, I see a purchase as a gesture (of using my wallet) to show Sega I too approve of them releasing their arcade offerings digitally. Decisions, decisions.

Is there much in the way of new equipment in Dawnguard? I'm starting to consider it.
(Hearthfire's price still won't drop in Australia!)

there are a number of new weapons and armours, shields, amulets, rings, etc and you apparently gain the ability to craft your own arrows. something was much needed in the base game.

you can also craft a number of new dragonbone weapons too. something else that was lacking in the base game.

Tempted to grab Dungeon Fighter Live...

Tried the demo and aside from the poor animations I quite enjoyed it: on the long run, is it worthy as a single player experience?

on the main page it states for Hearthfire "Save 50%" but the checkout is still 400 points... hopefully this changes soon and it goes down to 200 points...

also just bought Dawnguard at 800 pounts

Weird, french version of Hearthfire is 200, English 400.

I was waiting for this sale and had hoped they would sell all the DLC for one smaller price.
I can't justify paying 1600 for one DLC alone.

I noticed that one of the skyrim dlc's is 800 instead of 1200 now? I was going to buy it anyway so nice extra saving there, also picked up dragonborn as I am playing skyrim currently and if it's available i'll take it instead of revisiting later on.

Honestly this whole Xbox deal countdown was pretty weak compared to most other sales in recent memory. MS just isn't caring at this point.

you're joking. please tell me you're joking. this sale was insane, they offered some amazing deals.

I don't know what sale we were looking at but I easily passed every deal they offered. Might have had a bit of those Steam sale prices rubbing off on me.

how were the steam sales this year?

Oh the steam sales were pretty crap, however with a new PC it was still nice buying some cheap stuff at 2.50 and what not (kind of already had everything major I wanted)

Like I said I guess I was just wanting some more flat out steals on XBL than just some 50% off (which if it wasn't DLC or Dowbloadable was already cheaper than that)

Not joking at all. But I explained why I might not have liked the sale one post above yours.

yeah, I edited my post regarding that.

I thought the microsoft sale was pretty competitive with the sales on steam this year. like for like games of course. the fact that you can buy points cheaper than rrp if you shop around meant the prices were even lower for some people.

fair enough. the sale exceeded all my expectations after the past few sales microsoft have had, but if you're comparing on just price, steam would always win out with their larger selection and more freedom to reduce prices.

Looking back at through the sales (starting at day 1) I guess it does look better than I was giving it credit for. But I noticed a lot of what was on sale I already had bought so maybe I'm just bitter about it lol

yeah, I was ever so slightly bitter over the reductions to a few titles. walking dead comes to mind as does joe danger 2, trine 2 and a couple of others.

not allowing my bitterness to cloud my judgement, it was a great sale for microsoft. easily one of the best they've had. their next sale has a lot to live to.

Stumpokapow

listen to the mad man
what? the sale was insane.

I thought it was a pretty great sale by MS standards (both in quantity and quality), but The Walking Dead was the only multiplatform game where the 360 discount was comparable/greater than the PC discounts, and the biggest XBLA game of the year didn't go on sale at all. So I'd basically say if you're comparing to other MS discounts, this was a great sale, but if you're comparing to, say, PC gaming, still pretty weak.
