Looks good! Can you take a quick stab at Chespin-ing my avatar? Someone tried it and I appreciate it, but they blurred the edges so that it bled into the head. :O

This is as good as it's gonna get, I think. All of Quint's headgear makes it really hard to do convincingly.

I'm almost definitely going to be turning battle animations off, so I don't care about that.

And environmental features like you're describing are cool, but I want exploration, not just cosmetic features. I want this new region to feel more like a living, breathing world than the past games were able to achieve. I have zero faith in that happening, but it's what I want. I'll buy the game regardless. :lol

Agreed. The new graphics would/will be a waste if the world isn't interesting to explore.

I'd just like to be able to trade my stuff myself and not rely on other people.

For shame that Nintendo was so backwards with the DS for so long that I need to change my wireless stuff to trade pokemon.

I'm actually shocked at how well the starters are designed this gen (except for that neopet thing in the middle). They easily beat out most of the other starters.

The new starters definitely contrast with the old. Seems Ken Sugimori is doing something new with his coloring. I kind of hope the other new designs don't follow suit.

Yeah, I don't like it at all. Their designs I am fine with, but the coloring feels a little 'cheap' to me.

The in game models look good to me though.

It's a bit like Gen 3's shading. A little flatter.

The style actually looks more like the guy who drew Bianca, though (all three artworks).

Watch Da Birdie

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet
To be fair, the art used for the Gen III, IV, and V Starters in that pic aren't the basic Sugimori Stock Art, they're actually the updated, "dynamic" poses he produced for Emerald/Platinum/B2W2, so the coloring was a bit more dynamic as well iirc.

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
Well in the console games when they were lifted off the ground they took the dirt with them.

Pretty funny, really.

Oh god

Now I just realized how weird that would be, especially if they animate them with held item Air Balloon.

I wonder if CoroCoro will have new info, or just pictures of what was shown? Hopefully we get some official art of the X and Y Pokemon, Trainers, or a Map.

the colors on that particular image are very different/much brighter than the actual reveals, check the OP

I imagine we may get a map, heights, weights, types, classifications, screenshots of the trailer. Maybe stuff for the box legends, plus official art. For corocoro (and much of Pokemon's domestic target audience) Corocoro could be the first place they're seeing info.

I thought you were crazy before, but now that I've seen the cross gen comparisons, I'm inclined to agree. The older coloring style was a lot better, more organic, less plastic looking. This isn't a huge deal for me, but I do see it now.

What is this?
From a press release it mentioned bonding and a new battle system.
Why is everyone ignoring the final point? They mentioned this a lot of times in the anouncement trailer. However, new battle structure is new. I wonder if stats/attacks/evos are more closely tied to happiness/nature. They emphasized the point about developing stronger bonds a lot so maybe they are pushing for players to stick with their pokemon and not treat them as items.

Also anime wont reboot they'll just update the artstyle maybe more cg.

That's what scares me with chespin is he could become an ugly fat bear or mole.

Was this posted? Apparently from a press release
*In addition to existing Pokemon, there will be a large number of completely new Pokemon. *The additions will bring the total number of Pokemon in the franchise from the current 649 to over 700.
*Because of Pokemon X and Y, the Pokemon anime, movies, card game, and merchandise will “break into a new dimension.”
*People around the world will be able to simultaneously experience “Real Play.”
(I’m assuming this is referring to the game’s global October release.)
*The game will utilize the 3DS to its maximum abilities to leverage its overwhelmingly beautiful presentation.
*The game uses an innovative communication system that makes it feel as if you are playing with other players around the world.
*The bonds between players and Pokemon will deepen, and Pokemon will become stronger with the new battle structure.

why they say all these things cryptic enough for me to think co-op

These games have some serious potential to be amazing, but it comes at a risk. This is GF's first attempt at 3D modeling as far as I know, and they might still be learning. I'm worried X/Y might be a "beta" release for the 3DS as D/P were to the DS. D/P were so slow, ugly and clunky, but every successive release afterwards only became more and more streamlined and better looking.

God knows I'm still crazy excited, but I never want to have to go back to those slow battles and minute-long save times ever again. GF were pretty rough around the edges for D/P, and that wasn't nearly as substantial of a hardware leap as what we're looking at here, so I can't help but be somewhat skeptical.

Everything does look pretty snazzy so far, though, so that's good. If they can pull this off, this could probably be the biggest generational leap we've ever seen.

And team Froakie 4 lyf
