Rayman Legends coming to Xbox 360/PS3, all versions releasing in September

It's posted on Ubisoft's forum as a sticky....see below

It's also an official press release:

London, UK — February 7th, 2013 — Today, Ubisoft announced that its forthcoming title Rayman Legends, already announced for the Wii U TM system from Nintendo, will also be released on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. All versions will now hit shelves in early September 2013.

The Microsoft Xbox 360® and Sony PlayStation® 3 versions of Rayman Legends are being developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, the same team behind the Nintendo Wii U TM game. Rayman Legends has been praised for its stunning visuals and innovative gameplay by media around the world and labeled as one of the most anticipated platformers of 2013.

“ We heard from many Xbox & Playstation owners and Rayman fans who told us they really wanted to play Rayman Legends on their current system”, says Geoffroy Sardin, EMEA Chief Marketing & Sales Officer. ” We decided to give the fans what they wanted while at the same time broadening the audience exposed to this innovative and memorable game.”

Rayman Legends retains the fantasy appeal of its predecessor while adding a multitude of clever and entertaining gaming modes, new characters, new environments and a new soundtrack. The award-winning team of artists, designers and composers from Origins has also returned with an advanced UbiArt engine to include multi-dimension gameplay elements, an improved lighting system and updated game rendering that elevate Rayman’s graphics to the next level.

It's great that they're making it multiplatform but why not just release the Wii U version and then have other platforms out at the end of the year? I'm sure the end of the year release schedule will be pretty packed with stuff so this doesn't make sense to me.

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Help me out here, is this sincere, or is it satire?

Sincere. GAF has a fair few WiiU owners it seems that do not own PS3's and X360's to enjoy the slew of content released in these here months. Losing Rayman from the release calendar must feel a lot like the floor under them has just disappeared and the universe has become very very cold. That launch adoption price becomes harder and harder to swallow by the day for them no doubt.

And Nintendo fans with your impassioned "WON'T BUY/WILL BUY 2ND HAND AND SPIT ON IT" posts, this is exactly why another stigma exists amongst third parties on bringing their games to your systems. One imagined slight later and grudges become set in stone; sometimes its better to just not even try with you duders.

The gamepad stuff is really kind of fun, too. I guess they'll use Kinect or Sony's motion stuff somehow for that now?

This really sucks.

Not good news.

Isn't Rayman Legends published by Nintendo in Japan? What's going to happen there now after this news?

Also, bad timing. Ubisoft could've waited after releasing the Wii U version and then announce it as a multi-platform game. I think most would be okay with this since it would've been no surprise if it went to other platforms. But delaying the Wii U one to Sept. is just really disappointing for Wii U owners.

How'd this work out for Capcom and SFxT and the Vita version? Not so good. Same thing here.

I wonder how much Nintendo screwed themselves by having Rayman the only playable demo.

I bet many people just walked away from the kiosk in dissappointment

To be fair, your posts aren't helping as much either.

And PC version will release after September, right? Just as Origins.

I would bet on it. But there's no knowing if it could be one month, or six months later. The wait is gonna suck, I might have to pick up another console by then. :(

Glad I'm going to be able to play this now. Not going to buy a Wii U any year soon. Next I want Lego City Undercover. Though I imagine I'll have to play Xenoblade 2 in a few years...

Yep but for some reason they don't realize that.

I think this is more Nintendo than Ubisoft. They never really liked Rayman. They don't heavily support games that compete with their first party offerings.

Sure Nintendo is to blame some, but Ubisoft is to blame as well. In my view they are both at fault and probably about equal. Why did Ubisoft wait to announce this? I can't agree that all the blame is Nintendo when they could have announced it for PS360 a lot sooner and people wouldn't have pre-orders paid off expecting the game in 2 weeks time. Nintendo and their incompetence with 3rd parties....Do I really need to say more? I will add that if what you say is true it's not like Nintendo has the luxury of doing things to upset 3rd Parties regardless of their support.

I sincerely hope no one actually bought a Wii U only for Rayman as I would genuinely feel bad for them :(

Ah, interesting. Never heard that before today.

As far as i'm aware Microsoft even has a couple of seperate networks for XBL and one of which is "Family and Friends" or something which they use to test games before release with a wider, yet still private, audience.

It's how a couple of leaks happened early on in the 360's life i think.

This reminds me of the Bayonetta 2 thread but in reverse... I find that many find it amusing that Wii U owners got burned by a game that was less than 20 days away.

This only fuels fanboy fires, not sure how many really will end up picking up Rayman Legends on PS3 / 360 at full price during the same month that GTAV comes out.

Be honest you find Wii U owners salty tears amusing but seriously this game will be ignored by you until you have finished your big holiday AAA titles. Not even talking about your PS4 launch titles and Xbox next titles. I would really love to see how many people thanking Ubisoft for this port actually end up supporting it before the bargain bin.

Wii U owners just got screwed, this is just not good for the health of the platform, the issue is Feb. 26th was not that far off.

The major news here is what is going on between Nintendo and Ubisoft relationship.
This is as harsh as EA announcing the Mass Effect Trilogy before Wii U's ME3 Special Edition.

Wii U owners don't have to do anything out of spite. Just like you have GTAV coming September and other AAA titles around that same time. Wii U owners will have Nintendo IPs they want to invest in during that time. Right now was a great time for Rayman Legends for us Wii U owners. September will not be a good time, we just got burned... of course if Nintendo drops a major first party the same day as Legends the choice is very clear that Ubisoft will have to wait to get my money.

Fair is fair... be honest will you support Rayman Legends this September or is the only reason you are posting happily here is because you are enjoying the fact that Nintendo just got burned a little more?

God damn it I just saw the news about the delay. Fucking sad really, I thought the game was pretty much ready going to get released in three weeks time or so.

Some of the comments in this thread are just as sad though

Thread is going to need a health warning soon. Bonus points to the people that won't be buying it out of spite now. Guess you didn't really want to play that game too much, huh?

Well thank god not all people are completely uneducated fools that base their buying decisions uniquely on whether they love or hate the content of a game. False marketing, shady DLC strategies, dubious business models are all things that would stop me from buying a game even if it was declared game of the forever by Hideki Kamiya himself.

Reading through the thread, most people are extremely sad about the delay for a game they were excited to play in the next weeks, now they just feel like they have been lied to. For some it doesn't matter that much, for others it's a big deal. So unless this is a case of my values aren't the same values therefore you must be salty, I think you're the one posting out of spite.

This reminds me of the Bayonetta 2 thread but in reverse... I find that many find it amusing that Wii U owners got burned by a game that was less than 20 days away.

It's really not, if the game was announced for 360(which I own)/PS3 at the same date it was going to release for, it would be pretty great actually. Sure, it wouldn't bode well for the future of wii u exclusives, but whatever...

Heard this news on the way back from work, the only thing which hurt most from this was the delay to September as I was hoping to pick up the Wii U alongside this game.. this was one of my most anticipated games of 2013. The fact that it has gone to PS3/360 doesn't affect me at all (unless porting the game to these consoles were the reasons for the delay), in fact, the more people playing it, the merrier... but the gameplay videos and demo really made me jump to joy about the possibilities and excitement of the gamepad and the Wii U itself.

This is still one of the games to look out for this year in my opinion, and I will pick up a Wii U but it's quite sad to hear about the delay.

Dude, calm down. Your posts just antagonistic at this point and not any better than the people you criticize

Hyperbole aside, not entirely sure why people are surprised over the expressed "won't buy on $60 launch" discontent when it had a perfect end-of-the-month release date on it. The closest thing to a competing game would've been Crysis 3 or Metal Gear Rising. Now it's slated for a period where a bunch of games more than likely ought to be released, including GTA V which is bound to absorb a ton of attention.

It would have been a perfect stopgap but as good as Legends may turn out to be there are probably a plethora of more interesting titles over it. It's one of the few things that also killed Origins' sales.

Looking at Uplay on Miiverse is hilarious.

I don't know if I have to be angry yet. They need to clarify if the game needed more developing time or they just moved it because of the ports.

You say that like it's a Nintendo fan trait and not just an internet reaction trait. If it were to come out that Tomb Raider was pushed back to September to launch with a simultaneous Wii U version, you'd get similar reactions. People don't like games being delayed for reasons that don't benefit them, and Ubisoft isn't even claiming Wii U owners get anything out of a last-minute seven month delay. Pinning bad reactions as a Nintendo fanboy trait seems to ignore that the whole "shot themselves in the foot" meme started due to adverse non-Nintendo fan reactions.

I'm a bit disappointed but mostly because I wanted a game on the Wii U to tide me over until Monster Hunger. My interest in Rayman isn't very high, I thought Origin was just okay. Ubisoft delaying the game into September makes my purchase of the game even less likely despite it releasing on more platforms. There will just be too many games that interest me more at the end of the year.

Porting the game looks like it was the reason for the delay. The game was supposed to be out in less than three weeks - it had to be done by now.

This whole thing is akin to not selling water to people dying of thirst in an oasis so you can sell it to a larger group of people at a party that's also selling large amounts of champange, berr and other beverages. It makes no fucking sense.

They can really just remove the asymmetric gameplay aspect and replace Murphy's actions so that the main player can do it with just Rayman alone. See the slingshot? Walk up to it and press a button to use it without switching to Murphy. Need to jump on a moving platform, make some slight adjustments so that you won't need Murphy to bring it over closer to you or hold it in place. Need it pick up something, make it so Rayman can do it by himself. It's not like Rayman's asymmetric gameplay was vital to the core experience like it is in other games such as Nintendo Land.

Just wow. This is terrible for Wii U owners - screw the console wars nonsense - we need something to play...and soon!

My gf and I were planning on tackling this one together in a few weeks. Sonofa...

There's a Ubisoft penis complete with hairy testicles on Miiverse right now. Moderators can't catch them quick enough lol

Edit: And it's gone.
