i'm currenty using jap audio
but the game always resets back to english audio after a the game is exited
anyone else notice this?

Yeah, not much you can do about it. You can change it to english, then back to japanese, that fixes it, but you have to do it everytime you soft or hard reset, turn off the game, put it to sleep, anything. I just gave up and used english in the end. Maybe they'll make a patch down the line.

Whoever suggested using Serra's team to raise up low-level characters, bless you. Seems to be the only way to get Donny up to scratch.

I think I might want to tone down the paralogue/skirmish/xenologue use, though, the main story's getting pretty easy.

Just pair him up with someone strong and it really really helps. I've been using Reeking Boxes to help bring Donnel and Sumia up to speed and so far so good. Don't have Serra available to me quite yet though and I'm still really early in the game.

Is getting those Spotpass DLC maps of old FE characters to fight random? I only have Hector, Lyn, and Matthew so far and it hasn't seemed to unlock any others for me. Or is it just a new one unlocks each day type of thing?

I really doubt there are any chapters with infinite reinforcements in this game.

Pretty sure there are. :p At least one time someone makes a note that the enemies are just going to keep coming until you take down the leader. And I think there are one or two points besides that one in the late game where it works that way.

Yeah I finally just leveled Donny to 10 doing that stuff, and grinded out a few marriages (Chrom/Miribel, My character/Lissa, Lonq/Panne). I'm just at Chapter 10, and was breezing through the main story even before doing some grinding (I also promoted Chrom, my character, and Lonqu, levelled then up to 4 or so and reclassed another dude). My main squad is beastly. Still get dominated by some of the bonus teams though, the ones with promoted units and 50+ hp.

Still, I'm going to focus on the story for a bit now so I'm not too OP. Or maybe I'll just level up some of the characters I've been neglecting so I'm not just using the same 12 or so units in rotation.

It seems there's no real limit to grinding - is there any kind of wall or could I just hang out at Chapter 10 and max everyone out if I were so inclined? Especially with some of the level 20 teams available to fight?

It's a new one every day, but, after a certain point, Nintendo just unlocks an entire team for everyone. You should have every FE7 character if you update today, and also get one FE8 character.

The only real "wall" you will run into is the lack of weapons since the more you grind the more your weapon use age goes down which makes u spend more money on weapons :p forcing you into war mode for risen or go do story chapters in the hope for bullions

Trust me its one hell of vicious cycle

Basically grind to much > lose usages of weapons> weapons break> pay for more weapons > forcing you to go to story chapters/ waiting in risen/ have no weapons to use cause all weapons are broken > repeat
Sorry for the long post

Ok, awesome. Last time I checked last night, it was just Hector, Lyn, and Matthew. Do I have to update anything to see it or will it just be there when I go to the Wireless menu?

I guess these spotpass characters don't have support conversations ? Would have loved to do some pairing (like Serra with anyone, Lucius and Frederick... What ? I ship whoever I want >.>).

Gee, I need this game. Badly.

Yes, those are the weapon's uses. You're expected to just buy another weapon when it breaks, but there is the elusive Hammerne staff that repairs a weapon back to good shape...except Hammerne only has 1 use.

Started playing this while I was on vacation Monday. First game like this I have ever played, but I am really enjoying it. After I am finished this, I was thinking about playing one of the GameCube/Wii games. Any suggestions?

Not EVERY FE7 character, just FE7 characters that belong to that character set.

There is only one for GameCube and one for Wii, and they're connected to each other, with the Wii title, Radiant Dawn, being the direct sequel. If you're looking into playing those two, I'd suggest playing the GameCube game, Path of Radiance, first.

I haven't played them myself but supposedly Path of Radiance (GC) is very good, and Radiant Dawn is also worth playing if you get the chance. The only problem is they are both fairly rare right now so if you want to pick them up you're looking at something like $70 - $80 apiece for them.

My suggestion would be to go back and play either of the two GBA FE's released in the US. The one simply titled Fire Emblem is my personal favorite, and assuming you have a system to play it on it won't cost you nearly as much as the GC or Wii games (probably $25 or so).

Well, the Gamecube and Wii games are connected story wise and while its not necessary to play them in order to understand everything, I would say do it for the more enjoyment.

That and I find it hard to go back into the Gamecube game after playing the Wii one, mostly due to graphics and some gameplay features.

In other news, I am finding it sometimes hard to raise up the units I neglected. Right now, Donnel is probably my most troublesome unit just due to the fact that he's still so low level. I guess it'll probably be easier when he pair up partner becomes stronger herself.

Also, Lon'qu and Avatar's supports are the most amazing thing ever.

I'm sorry guys, but Donnel just isn't worth it.

Just have to baby him a little bit. Considering he's the only unit in the game you really have to baby for a while and you can pretty much grind indefinitely really early in the game, it's more an exercise in patience than it is in skill or strategy. Just pair him up with Vaike for the strength boost and go to town. Vaike also makes a great damage sponge because he comes with +5 HP naturally. I think mine had close to 35 at level 6.

Bundle finally came in! Any tips for someone that has been on media blackout for this game? I'm an experienced Fire Emblem player however.

Well, more like 10 characters from FE7. To be more specific: Eliwood, Hector, Lyn, Matthew, Serra, Florina, Nino, Jaffar, Karel and Nergal. They all can be enemies for skirmishes, sell items or even join the player's party (Yes, even Nergal).

I guess these spotpass characters don't have support conversations ? Would have loved to do some pairing (like Serra with anyone, Lucius and Frederick... What ? I ship whoever I want >.>).

Yeah, no supports you can play around with the Hubba Tester, but that's it. They can class change freely though to make up for their lack of supports, generally have great growths and every single one starts already knowing one skill from outside of their own class.

Like say, Jaffar has Galeforce, which allows him to move again after killing an enemy. That's usually a Dark Flier-exclusive skill and takes a lot of grinding to give to male characters through breeding, but Jaffar just starts with it in addition to the Assassin's skill set. The lack of supports gives them a disadvantage compared to the main cast, and generally well prepared 2nd generation characters will be better than them, but I think they're close enough to the first gen.

Donnel's strength is his growth rate; he has some pretty poor stat caps.

Basically, he's atrocious early on, really good for most his levels, and then falls off when you're looking at min/maxing finished characters.

Haven't played a FE since the first gba one, which I only dabbled in. I am completely hooked. I am finding it so hard to keep working, and tonight I have people coming over for the weekend. All I want to do is keep playing haha

Is it only two skills per character that transfer over to a child? Or do all of the skills transfer over and you can equip them as you want to once you recruit them?

Are there any hidden characters like that guy in the desert (Path of Radiance) where you have to stand on a specific, out of the way, space to get him to appear?

Metroidvania

People called Romanes they go the house?

It's the two "last" skills. Usually the most recent two the parents learned, unless you've second seal'd a lot.

You can rearrange the order of the skills in the menu when not in combat.

Only the last skill in the ski slot from the mother and father are the only skills retained
Edit : beaten like a twig

Kunai or Shiuriken :p needs to be a weapon in fe lol
Also weren't daggers in radiant dawn in the sword class and worked like javelins and dang axes?

Yeah, thieves (and sages in PoR) got knives as a weapon. Some was ranged but it did excluded them from the weapon triangle which meant that axe bandits could smack them hard now.

I guess they could have added the Wind Swords that were in RD.

I guess in this game they are reducing all the different types with removing knives, tossing out crossbows and the whole magic triangle.

I got my avatar to "max" as a tactician so I upped him to a grandmaster and now that's maxed too. What should I do with him now? leave him be or re-class hi?. Seem like all the classes lower his stats significantly.

Yeah I had the feeling they took out some of the more confusing weapons to allow people just getting into the game an easier time with understanding the triangle(maybe lol)

I didn't even know crossbows were a thing lol were they in radiance?

Even though the stats maybe lower sometimes the caps for certain stats are higher so going to other classes can have its advantages also you
Gain access to other skills :) also ure avatar is awesome
Double post sorry

Yeah, that magic triangle was pretty confusing especially with how big it got in PoR/RD.

Crossbows were in RD. Their gimmick was that their attack power was only based off the weapon's might instead of weapon + character's strength but they had high attack power on its own. Pretty useful for smacking birds and peg knights.
