Ubisoft promise a Wii U exclusive Rayman Legends demo.

Why not port Origins and bundle it with the U version of Legends?

A free eShop download of Origins at the end of the month wouldn't be a bad idea if they are insistent on this. Quick and easy port, the game is easily had for peanuts EVERYWHERE, so it's not as though there's a massive untapped windfall to be made from it.

It would be a better use of resources than a demo troll, and I would think much more favourably received.

Lol wtf is this shit. First I've heard of exclusive demos to save face.
We are getting trolled.

I just unsubscribed from Ubi's newsletter, seems more impactful to me than a petition if numbers add up. Until journalists question Yves Guillemot on what is more important to him, hypothetic increased profits or his customers, this kind of feedback is necessary.

At this rate I fully expect ZombiNotU to be announced for PS360 tomorrow, followed by a patch for ZombiU that disables the game until November.

So, you know, Wii U owners can't make everyone else feel bad by continuing to play the game while the port is developed.

There's actually is a patch in the works.

That's ok. I'll relish that I get to play it on my ps3.

And that's great. As a multi-console owner I'm glad it is being released on multiple platforms. That still doesn't excuse them delaying a game 7 months a mere 2 weeks before it's released, when said game is already completed. Release the completed game and work on the port. Ubisoft should have never promised it as an Exclusive in the first place, IMO.

I... I just can't take this serious anymore. This is just too comical. In which universe is that a good answer to the uproar? It's like mooning the angry mob that's come to burn you at the stake. Quality trolling, maybe, but utterly desastrous from a PR perspective.

Also, dear lord, those poor devs. So not only do they have to port the game now after all that crunch time, they now have to make a demo for the WiiU (and most likely for the HD twins too)? That's just... mean! My heartfelt condolences to anybody on that team.

On a lighter note:

You know, when I saw this seven years ago I thought it was just a cute picture... now I think it might actually be scarily accurate. They should check whether their management are actually Rabbids in disguise.

I know that so much of NeoGAF enjoys all this raging just for the sake of raging, but does anybody actually expect Ubisoft to change their mind? (about the delayed Wii U release, not about multi-console. that doesn't matter.)

until I see the date change on their website or e shop, I will continue to hold out hope

Getting angry because bananas are yellow; THAT would raging for the sake of raging.

People are "raging" as you put it, for good reason. And that reason has been covered many times over in this thread.

Hahaha oh wow Ubi! I am also us the devs appreciate it that they have to crank out another demo while doing the ports.

It's called a business move. If you're a developer and these types of things bother you, you're in the wrong line of work.

if you're a developer and those things bother you, you should fight for better working conditions. actually, you shouldn't need to fight for better working conditions. that should be standard.

you're in the wrong here.

I think it's an extremely unlikely scenario that they change now. I don't think that changes the fact that people want their voices to be heard though.

Really? Is this some kind of sick joke?

At this point, I'm afraid that Ubisoft are so completely insensitive that even if Wii U owners got what they wanted(Releasing Rayman soon), they'll probably just find some way to screw them over. Like intentionally leaving out content here and there, so they can say: "see, the game wasn't quite ready, but you wanted it. So there!"

I'm probably just paranoid here, but at the careless rate they are going... I'd be afraid to do business with them under these circumstances, especially as a potential Wii U owner. In any event, I don't think they'll reconsider their decision. I had plan for this game(followed by Pikmin 3) to compliment my Wii U purchase this Spring. What a shame.

You'd somehow have to soften the hearts of the bean counters in empty suits. Probably as likely as a double rainbow eminating from Reggie Fils-Aime's ass.

That's downright insulting. I'm surprised they didn't just ignore the whole thing, let the dust settle for a few months, quietly fire the guy that broke the story (*) and move on to releasing the game.

This is salt in the wound.

(* not wishing this on the guy at all but I'm pretty sure there's a number of clauses in his work contract that forbid him from publicly shitting on his company, regardless of how justified he is. These kinds of stories always turn to HR and PR nightmares)

I do agree that ALL employees should fight the practice of forced OT. Regardless of profession. Delaying the game, however, is not a hardship for the developers or gamers. The notion that Ubisoft owes it to the developers or gamers to release the game when it was first planned is just dumb.

I'm just taking a swing at those that flip a shit on the internet when they know full well that nothing will change. It's obviously raging for a reason, but it's more a question of whether or not they actually expect that their rage will have some effect on the current situation.

I'm not saying people don't have a right to be pissed off, I'm a little irked at this whole ordeal too.

Releasing a demo as an appeasing move is so ridiculous in itself that I just realized now the exclusive part...
I read this word too much since yesterday, that's maybe why, I don't notice it now.
Anyway if they could bother putting interesting levels in this time, I'm not expecting my mind to be changed but you never know.

The fact that they were probably forced to work long OT hours to get this game out first at launch and then in February is horrible.

Hahahaha, oh wow.
Do they realize how bad of an idea this is?

God damn your avatar.

I hope some of you guys are happy. You're making the Gaf twitter feed guy work overtime to keep up with all of this.

Yes. Like pretty much every other game made. Forced OT to meet dates is shitty. Especially when some of the OT isn't paid (not claiming Ubisoft doesn't pay). Ubisoft changing the date is unfortunate, but it's not the end of the world. The dev team is still working. They still get paid. And sounds like they have more work to do.

So there you have it. Rayman Legends is complete on Wii U, ready to be played, and just sitting there. Look, Ubisoft, it's one thing to bring a platform exclusive to multiple consoles. Only the most dedicated, spiteful console zealots will have an issue with a good game reaching a larger audience. It's another thing to actively punish early adopters that purchased a console to play your game by delaying it half a year when it's actually ready to be shipped
At last, Eurogamer speaks up. Now journalists go the extra mile, call Yves Guillemot and ask him if that is how he values his customers. If the small sales increase he expects from this move is worth jeopardizing loyal fans relations.

Are you a gamer? I mean, what are you exactly? Didn't you buy a Wii U for Rayman, knowing you obviously didn't buy it for the current lineup?

I'm curious if there is a "line" for some people on if demo's provide a big enough look of the game that they don't feel they need to purchase the full version of the game anymore?

Now with a second demo that I'd have to assume will have another 2-4 levels for us, that's 6-8 levels we'll have gotten to play for free. I don't know how many levels they plan on having in the full game, but how many of you would feel like they got their Rayman fix in with 8 levels of play?

So is there a "line" where if you've played XX% of a game already, would you not need to buy the full game anymore?

I mean, is this second demo potentially going to be detrimental to potential sales in even more than one way? A slap in the face and a why buy the full game if I've already played XX% of it for free already?

Exclusive demo? Wow, now I know Ubisoft is trolling. I bet they are having a good laugh now.

Edit:
Coming next, exclusive DLC for your exclusive demo!

I'm sorry, when I became a gamer did that mean I had to throw all semblance of common sense out the damn window? I'd never buy a Nintendo console for a third party game. So no, it wasn't purchased for Legends. It was purchased because of the promise of Nintendo games and mostly because I buy most consoles at launch. You'd think the PS3/Wii/360/3DS/Vita would have taught me a lesson, but there ya have it. I'll make the same mistake with Xbox and PS4.

I'm sorry, I got that far and then I couldn't stop laughing.

Guys. Just set this aside. It's not worth getting so worked up over. The game will come. Delays suck but what can you do.

This is why you never buy consoles based on potential. Never. Buy for what is out right now. That way you can't be burned. Much.

Devs change stuff in games all the time due to consumer feedback. Games go multiplatform all the time due to consumer demand. If you don't say anything, companies won't know that they've screwed up.

As an aside, has anyone been able to come up with a logical explanation for how launching across from Madden and GTA 5 is supposed to be a good thing for Rayman? In light of how mediocre the last game's sales were, you'd think that Ubi would want to release in a quiet month with no competition.

Well, you first said it was raging just for the sake of it, so that's what I was responding to.

Like DeuceGamer said in his response to you, people want their voices to be heard, signing that petition, replying to UbiSoft's facebook, what have you. They aren't just going to shut up and take it.

I was ruminating to myself an hour or so ago that I half-expect to wake up and see UbiSoft change the release date back to February or March. I mean, not really, but still. In a world where UbiSoft listened to its fans.

I guess that's... something. But it's like ordering a big, fancy steak dinner, having it delayed for 7 hours, and the restaurant is just like, "oh yeah, sorry about that. Here's a tootsie-roll." And the steak is already prepared! They're just waiting for everyone else to show up...

No one's saying it's the end of the world? And usually when stuff like this happens to other games they are at least better with PR and timing (like not delaying a game 3 weeks before it comes out without promise of new content), this is just laughably bad.
