I suddenly feel like there should be a Castle Vidcons with SNES and Genesis drawn as old hillbillies, sitting in front a shack with bottles of moonshine.

And they're watching everyone else in the kingdom tear each other apart in a giant melee, while hacking out "Aw yeah! Now we done gots us a goo' ol fasshin console war!"

i interpreted it as a statement about how nintendo can keep an entire console floating by their first-party efforts alone, sony can't.

I have no idea how you interpreted that way but okay.

Either way, I'm very happy that Nintendo can keep its consoles afloat with first-party titles because it certainly isn't getting many third-party titles to float them lately.

guess what? each company has there own stregnths and weaknesses, nobody is better than others.

It's really quite remarkable how they even out so perfectly and they all have the same number of strengths and weaknesses that are all of the same importance.

I mean, what are the odds?

i have no idea how you interpreted it your way, lol. it seemed implied that they were talking about the overall spread and scope of the software output - not the highs and lows. it seems weird to nitpick something so large and abstract. nintendo and sony software are not equal just because one has Galaxy and the other has Uncharted - and they're both critically acclaimed.

You've been more defensive than anyone else in this thread so far lol. Even farnham has held it together more. Calm down, wouldn't want to see another Sony faithful biting the dust before the 20th.

I take my last post back, you're straight up pissed, lol

One sentence has launched a thousand plus replies. Amazing.

Lol I know. I wonder how many people remember the old Sony marketing against Nintendo and sega. Man it feels good to know it might come back. Now I need MS to through some shots too to bring the good ole company console wars back so their fans don't have to fight as much. The fanboys need a rest, they deserve it.

I don't think anyone argues that there are a lot of games featuring Mario/Mario universe, but yes the genres matter. There is a difference in what you get from a 3D Mario to a Mario Kart to a Mario Party.

Games like Mario Kart are a one per console generation, same with 3D Mario (Wii changed this and had 2).

Putting all Mario games in the same group as if they are similar in gameplay is simply ignorant, and I am talking about supposed gamers on these forums, not Sony's comment. I actually think it's funny (reminds me of old Sony) and I'm super hyped.

I haven't read every post, but none of the ones I've seen said that all/most Mario games are the same game. Just simply that there are way more Mario games (aka games starring Mario) than any other series. What genre's the games are in are pretty irrelevant when you're talking about what characters/series are being milked the most. The fact that they slap Mario onto a ridiculous number of games BECAUSE HE SELLS BETTER is like the definition of milking something, yet there were people arguing God of War is somehow worse than that.

For what it's worth, if I had to choose a "side", I'd be on Sony's, but I've never really been into the console war thing. Zelda is one of my favorite series, and I usually like the RPGish Mario games. Not a Nintendo hater or anything, just thought the argument they were using didn't really make sense. They were arguing a different point. Amir0x summed it up pretty nicely a few pages back, it's about more than the gameplay when you're talking about milking something.

Well all I said was that I disagree with the exact statement "Nintendo's software shits on Sony's from a great height." because I do not think that Nintendo's software is inherently superior to Sony's, because Nintendo has had some great games and some not-so-great-ones, same as Sony.
