Wouldn't 3DS just be Wii and Wii U sales taken away from the 455k total?
Ignoring DS, although I wouldn't be surprised if DS is still holding up

I have absolutely no sympathy for Nintendo in regards to the Wii U bombing at retail. I had a fun time with NSMBU and Nintendoland, but the fact that there hasn't been any significant releases 4 months after launch is just plain laughable. (Also fuck you Nintendo and your deceptive "launch window" bullshit by lying in our faces and saying games like Pikmin 3 and W101 should be out by now)

I'm expecting sometime down the road another embarrassing apology from Nintendo to their early adopters. While I cut them some slack on the 3DS, the fact that this is the 2nd time it has happened to them recently along with the fact that they had several years of blank release schedules to prepare a decent console library goes to show how much of a complete fuck up this system launch was. If they don't get their shit together for a mind blowing fall line up, then they can shut up and take their 3rd place trophy for next gen, because if this is all they can muster up then they more than deserve it. /rant of salty early adopter

3rd place trophy? Is that really how you view this? Okay then......

Im amazed 360 is still selling so well. Makes you wonder if certain people at MS question whether 720 should come out this year...
I highly doubt that but it perfectly explains why they're in absolutely no hurry whatsoever to divulge anything about the Durango and take momentum away from their current platform.

CoD is a true system seller for Vita.

And that's with a game that scored 33 on MC....imagine a real COD from IW/Treyarch where, and this is pretty important, you can play anywhere with friends over a 4G network. I believe it could be big, maybe it won't be on vita as that platform is pretty tarnished, but something like that, if done right, could be huge IMHO.

Oh yes, just little better than PSV ninja game.

From multimillion seller to ~5000....the iOS effect.

If I owned a wiiu I'd be unhappy with these numbers even if they are totally expected.

So sure if I buy a Nintendo console I do so mostly for Nintendo titles, but shit, there had to be some hope for 3Rd party games that aren't freaking shovelware. As I said it's not a surprise, but that doesn't mean I wasn't hoping this would be different.

I like to think that a sane person would not derive gratification from a gaming device based upon the kind of month it has in the NPD threads

For me, its a good console, I've had a good time with it and still am -- but the broader appeal and mass market price isn't there yet, so its selling as it deserves to, to be frank.

10k below 360 launch aligned isn't totally dismal, but the picture is not good. They hopefully now see that they need to act and may need to bring forward some announcements and/or price incentives. I expect something in April or June (new fiscal year)

To be honest, I don't feel burned in any way, even having experienced a similar 3DS launch. They can do whatever they want for new buyers if they're willing to do ambassador stuff again. Hell, I'm not even bothered if they don't do that this timr. I've had enough fun with it since november... I think its a much better device with much better services for its time than both the 3ds and Wii were, I'm looking forward to game announcements!

In a separate statement, Nintendo reported that 455,000 units of hardware were sold in the U.S. in February, pushing 3DS past 8 million units to date. 180,000 copies of Fire Emblem Awakening were sold in the U.S. in February (117,000 at retail and 63,000 digitally). Nintendo added that "by comparison, the previous hand-held entrant in the franchise – Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon – has sold a little more than 250,000 units life to date in the United States

...Digital numbers.
WE HAVE THEM.

I'm liking the numbers for FE, but the real shocker here is that Shadow Dragon sold 250k units. The fuck??

It can't be under 64k.

I think your right in that respect, I think it's going to be 64k- maybe 75ishk. But definitely not 80k or higher. The so called 40% spike I would say would be a combination of consumer's getting tax return money, and the recently released Zombie U bundle with the pro controller.

With those factors those numbers even up 80k to Michael Pachter predictions make sense.

Gamasutra.
Second approximation.

Xbox 360 = 302K (known)
PS3 = 255K
PSV = 38K
Wii U = 66K
Wii = 115K
3DS = 190K
NDS = 85K

Things that need to match: Nintendo Ecosystem = 455K, Wii + Wii U + PS3 = 435K, Sony Ecosystem < Microsoft Ecosystem

Again, rounded to nearest 5K, my estimates, not official, blah blah blah. Usually can be refined as more info comes in.

I'm impressed Sly is in the top 10. Though I doubt the numbers are impressive.

Sorry I couldn't do my part due to a lack of funds. :(

...Because the memory is hideously expensive and limited to 32GB?
The 32GB cap sucks but all of GAF was able to score those memory cards for $50 this week.
There's really no reason to harp on the "too expensive" angle any more just because the retail price is significantly more than that.

So, PS3 + PS2 + PSP ~ 265k.

Something seems off about this math. Assuming from that calculation that PS3 sold 250k and that Wii U did 64k (Sort of confirmed now), going by Microsoft's console math that means that the Wii did 120k? I know I set 120k as my high0end range in the thread but that sounds crazy high to me when looking at how other platforms did in February and how Wii has performed for some time now.

Wii U continues to be Krillin. No surprise there.

Vita continues to fail. Again, no surprise there.

Sly 4 sales are good and certainly not below expectation. I think a LTD of 1+ million is assured now which will be a very good result for Sanzaru. Also, for people in disbelief at how it charted; to give you some perspective, The Sly Collection was very profitable and wasn't far off from the million mark worldwide. It certainly didn't get much advertising either. Overall, I think the "PS3 Sly Project" will be considered a good success. I also wouldn't rule out a future Sly game.

Is there a source for bolded? The sales bit specifically.

Thinking about Metal Gear, I'm just going to throw something really crazy out there (not that I believe it, but I wonder).

How much did the HD Collection sell? I wonder if the lower Rising sales, potentially low HD Collection sales, and the abysmal PW sales are more showing that there might be something wrong with the brand itself in the west than we realize (I know, Rising is a completely different genre, the HD Collection is just that and is not going to appeal to newer or non-nostalgic folks, and PW was released when the PSP was essentially dead, but still...).

Metal Gear Solid is fine.

Oh yes, just little better than PSV ninja game.

Brain Age doing "a little better" than 3k? Fuck me, how times change.

What would NPD do to creamsugar if he leaked the actual NPD data here every month? Would they demand Evilore hand over his personal info so they could press charges on him? Would Evilore be forced by law to hand over said information to the NPD group? And it's also surprising to me that the numbers don't get leaked on 4chan considering the numbers have to be in the hands of hundreds of people in the industry. NPD does a good job of containing that information I guess.

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
I hope you really enjoyed your Dead Space 3, America. I hope it went down A REAL TREAT. Chances are you won't get another one whereas my dreams of a glorious Rising 2 live on! THROUGH THIS ARM.

$50 is still too much.

How did DS3 sell this much? I got it for $40 a week later. I thought it was bombing hard...
Well, the last one did very well in the U.S., this was heavily marketed, and you could get it for a budget price, so that is usually a pretty good combo for sales.

Dragon Age also sold a ton by soft launching at $40 in the holiday season under similar circumstances (where the prequel was "BioWare games" more than an actual previous game in the series).

Was that the AT&T offer? I'm sure that fell through.

No surprise at Dead Space 3's spot, EA marketed the hell out of it, There was a commercial every 10 miniutes on the channels I watched and even Hulu had it showing every commercial break.

EDIT: NPD tracks PSP. Okay..

So PS3 + Vita + PSP = less than 302K.

That makes:

Vita = 38K

PSP = 10K? (shinra-bansho's estimate seems reasonable)

PS3 = ~302 - 38K - 10K = <254K

....

And PS3 + Wii = ~369K

i think they track absolutely everything, down to 1 console sold. so psp and ps2 as well.

the question is just how negligible are those 2 consoles sales.

99% of those orders were cancelled.
