Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut [Up: Off-Screen play confirmed]

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
HAHAHA Neural hub= God damn minimap.

It's nothing special but it will be a really useful feature. It's a shame this will probably be the only Deus Ex game on the Wii U.

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
Some of the improvements sound interesting, if I had a Wii U I'd consider getting it after it bombs and ends up in the bargain bin.

DXHR has dumb names for bog-standard gameplay stuff throughout it. No fall damage = Icarus Landing System, for example.

...I did think the Neural Hub would be a bit more than that, though. I was expecting some form of detective mode with more text and scanning and shit.

Ugh! The character models still look bad, Adam's beard in particular really irks me. I mean he looks awesome in th art work and the CGI trailer but in game him and along with all character models look so bland.

-Each of the game's three boss fights have had their map layouts reworked to provide players with alternative potential strategies. New hacking challenges are available to players who focus on hacking, and stealth options are available to those who focus on stealth. You can now kill the bosses without firing a single bullet

Okay, this is megaton for me

Oh, interesting!

I've only played the first 30 mins of the PS3 version, but it is a game I'd like to try properly some day. If this rebalances the allegedly shitty boss fights sufficiently it might be worth looking into.

The lack of off-screen TV seems like a huge oversight for a lengthy game like this.

One of the top three games of the generation, I'm glad more people will get a chance to experience this one. I've already beaten the game three times on PS3 so I don't think I'll bite, myself.

Wow, the reworked bosses and other improvements do sound tempting. Not full-price though. I just started a second playthrough but I guess I'll be waiting for this to hit Steam.

Product Information

The Director's Cut offers a full slate of Wii U GamePad features including touch-screen hacking, interactive map editing, augmented sniping, grenade throwbacks and many other neural hub enhancements. Along with in-depth Miiverse integration, the Director's Cut also provides access to developer commentaries and in-game guides.

Tongs's Rescue mission and the entire Missing Link chapter have also been integrated seamlessly into the narrative flow of the Director's Cut. Other core Deus Ex: Human Revolution augmentations include overhauled boss fights, refined game balance and combat, improved AI, and striking visual improvements which make this edition the best looking and most immersive Deus Ex experience available.

I still have issues with the price. However. The above bolded are the things I wanted to see done. The question is will some of these changes be added to the PC version. I will ultimately decide as it gets closer to the release day.

PS3/360 version was handled by Eidos Montreal proper, PC version was handled by Nixxes, and now these changes come from Straight Right. It's very unlikely to include these changes in the other versions of the game, but sheeeeeeit, I do want to try out the improvements.

Do we know if these changes are coming from Straight Right? Calling it the "Director's Cut" would be very strange if that was the case...

Wow the Eurogamer article really highlights a lot of changes. The OP should have all the changes in bulletform, really doesnt sound like a straight port. Graphical enhancements, gameplay enhancements (both Wii U specific and not), new augmentation and new bossfights. Sounds pretty damn substantial.

Moreso than just adding an armored costume and calling it a day.

I'm in the middle of the pc version right now. Great game. This sounds like a very nice update. Get it!

Annoyed at the "no off-tv, no sale" comments, I hope that's not indicative what people want out of their WiiU. Tbh, fuck off-TV support if that leads to developers not making good use of the two screens.

If you want a handheld with good graphics, go buy a Vita or some shit, I don't know.

No IR, no buy!

The change decisions come from EM as it's the game's director that talks about them; http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...nfirmed-and-yes-theyve-fixed-the-boss-battles

EM calls it a co-production so maybe they made the changes for the already existing builds of the game and then Straight Right ported the game to WiiU.

So maybe one day they'll release updated PC/360/PS3 versions as well.

"Dumb names", he says. Of course the upgrades have atypical names, they were supposed to represent cybernetic augmentations, implants and upgrades. Icarus System is one of the coolest things in the game.

..why am I even replying to this haha

I played through the original game with the Tong mission, and it was already pretty seamless. Never felt like obvious additional content.

Same. Should have just bolded the Missing Link part. I am curious as to who that is going to screw with the flow of the game.

Hm, don't have a Wii U at this point, but I am very curious to see all of these changes for myself, particularly the gameplay alterations. Since the Tong mission and The Missing Link are there by default, I wonder if the pre-order weapons (namely the Longsword Whisper, the double barrel shotgun sucked) and the auto-hack tools are there as well.

Also...

...Megan?

Still PC there as always. And you can get it for $5.

The map in HR ruins exploration if you use it because of how detailed it is. Deus Ex games are best when you explore them on your own.

Potentially higher resolution and/or higher framerate over a reworked game based on fan-feedback. Yeah, sure, PC is always better.

It seems no one cares about it but I find this very cool;

There's Half-Life 2-style director's commentary, what amounts to some eight hours of chat from Eidos Montreal developers. Icons dotted around the world can activate this voice over, and you're free to continue playing as you listen.

8 hours?!

VOOK

We don't know why he keeps buying PAL, either.
Mass Effect 3 used the GamePad a lot, but also had Off-TV play with it all disabled. It could still happen.

At least the new content seems alright... and Miiverse integration is always welcome. But it's anyone's guess if the GamePad features will be any good (probably not).

edit: missed the part about overhauled boss fights -- that certainly perked my ears up. If it were cheaper (like, $20-30) I'd probably be in for this. Will buy post bomba.

The improvements looks interesting, but 50$ is way too much for a game i've beaten a few times over the last 2 years.

Sorry, I'm using the word "dumb" in a non-pejorative sense way too often nowadays. I love the names, it's cool. In-universe justification/contextualisation of gameplay mechanics is always the best thing.

nothing comparable to this, honestly. it had map (very useful) and tap-positioning. not all the hacking-scanning-coding-snaping stuffs they are putting here

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=50824794&postcount=16

they should have two completely different interfaces to add offtv.
of course, they could add it.

People are already port begging? ^^

It's incredible how the Wii U received very sporadic (and in this case: dumb) support but for almost every (few, I repeat) game it receives there are people looking for "multiplatform" release ;p
