Bioshock Infinite |OT| No Gods, Kings, or Irrational Games

Wow, those fake spoilers demolished a whole month's worth of thread momentum.

I'm interested to see what sort of cosplayers turn up at the launch events. Booker's super easy to pull off, but I'm not sure about any other options for guys. Maybe someone's dad will cosplay Comstock.

Yeah be careful, I saw something completely unaware and if true I'm really fucking pissed. Bail out until after I get the game on Tuesday.

You mean interview?
And I doubt he does, he seems like a workaholic and would stay up all hours just writing and fixing things. BUT it definitely seems to pay off. I think he really loves his craft

Woops, edited it. Brain fart...

Seems like he's on an insane press tour.

do you know that they were fake?

I don't have confirmation as I haven't played the game. But I know in my heart of hearts that someone as narrative-focused as Levine wouldn't include such a hackneyed twist as a major plot point. It doesn't even relate thematically!

Edit: Just so we're on the same page, I'm talking about the supposed spoilers that appeared on Wikipedia and reposted on other forums.

Edit 2: Can someone create a spoiler thread so we can actually get into speculation and validity of spoilers in detail without ruining it for everyone else? I'm still 30 posts short of doing it myself.

Going by his GiantBomb interview, he still has a lot of stops. He does plan to take a long ass nap though. :p

All due respect to Levine, he did say in the GiantBomb thing that he basically finished up his work on the game back in December. Not to diminish his effort in the PR push, but it's not like he went straight from crunch to the press junket with no break.

Ok to move the talk away from all the nonsense flying around, what is it that you're looking forward to gameplay-wise? Anything that hasn't been shown that you hope is present? A take on the opposite end of the argument?

yea i thought the same thing for the sake of the game i would think kens better than such a seemingly stupid twist. I'm just looking for any hope that i didn't ruin the story for myself.

Yeah definitely. He's not directly apart of PR either.

Honestly, when I close my eyes and imagine finally actually getting to play the game, it's really just daydreaming about walking around Columbia with Elizabeth and looking at stuff. Signage, adverts, citizens... I can tell from vids that it's going to be a way more robust shooter than Bioshock was, but that stuff is just icing on the cake.

Considering the game isn't even out, there is little point to making a Spoiler thread other than to oust people who pirated the game.

If those spoilers were true, my disappointment in the writing would greatly overshadow my disappointment of having the game spoiled in advance.

I don't know about you, but I'd appreciate being able to post frankly about plot expectations without tiptoeing around the actual information we have, fake or otherwise, in this thread.

I agree about the new thread cos I want to verify if what I heard is true or if it's even the same as what everyone else here is talking about

Just explore and collect, items, vigors, voxophones and see what kinds of things Elizabeth does. If battles, then skylines. Seen enough to believe its not scripted.

TBH I am not really looking forward to gameplay all that much. I can't imagine it will be much different to previous Bioshock games. I just want to see the world, the characters, the interactions, the dialogue, story and voice acting. That stuff all plays a much much larger role than the gameplay IMO.

But if I had to pick one then the skyline rail things would be the most interesting

I'd be the first to put a spoiler thread up (though generally it's polite to let the OT creators handle it), but so far we're not seeing the level of leaks like we saw with Halo 4 to justify putting a thread up.

All putting a thread up will do is:

  • Reveal pirates or put press breaking embargo's in hot water
  • Tempt the rest of the Neogaf userbase, as well as offer a source of info that can easily spill onto this/other discussions

In the end, it isn't worth it. If you want to PM information out from those who ask, that's fine.

What we should be doing now is moving the conversation away from that particular topic and just focus on the speculation and gameplay.

The night Bioshock Infinite releases, or if the spoilers explode on Halo 4/COD levels and I get permission to, I'll put a spoiler thread up if Andrew, Cystm, and the rest don't want to handle it. If a mod gives me the go ahead, I'll do it right at the word. I just don't see enough out there yet to warrant a thread being needed.

Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
Why ask for pirates to tell you about the game? It's out on Tuesday. If you're skeptical just wait til then.

Looking forward to playing the game, Shawn. Glad it's finally coming out.

I'm breaking my sojourn for just a moment to post this: BioShock Infinite soars onto Mac this summer.

Aspyr Media is proud to announce that Bioshock Infinite is coming to the Mac this Summer! Mac gamers will take on the role of Booker DeWitt as he travels to the lost flying city of Columbia to rescue a mysterious girl named Elizabeth. Together, they will learn to harness an expanding arsenal of weapons and abilities, all while surviving the threats of the air-city and uncovering its dark secret. Release date and pre-order details are coming soon!

True about the story-related content being the focus over gameplay, but didn't know if folks wanted the shooting to be tightened up a bit or the U-invents to return in some capacity.

I definitely don't want the research camera to return. Too much of a grind at times to revisit.

My God, Elizabeth's voice actress is adorable...

http://youtu.be/frwhNLzmc-M?t=59s

I can't wait to hear the rest of her work in the game. Just has one of those voices.

Wait how can pirates be playing it? I thought it was steamworks? Unless we're talking about console piracy.

Apparently the ps3 version leaked?

Yes, a Playstation 3 version of the game somehow leaked. I'm not sure how Irrational handled the review copies though to know what the likeliest avenue was.

I'd like to see a research system of some kind, but I get why people didn't like taking pictures. It was annoying to have to interrupt combat just so you could try to get a good action shot. Something closer to SS2 would be welcome, where it's passive but because the research items & elements do take up inventory slots, it's a tradeoff between short-term convenience and long-term payoff.

I can see this character being my favorite of the entire year. I'm so fascinated to know who she is, I just learned her name yesterday (Elizabeth, not the actress). I really don't know shit about this game, been paying attention to too many other things and this one just kind of creeped up on me.

Her presence even in the few trailers I watched is just endearing. I am very much looking forward to spending time in game with her as an AI.

I loved the Parts of HL2 Ep1 where you were with Alyx.

I definitely don't want the research camera to return. Too much of a grind at times to revisit.

Ugh, hated that thing. It should have just been assigned to a button, and not taken a weapon slot. So clunky.

How did the research work in SS2? Do you just find research material as you wander around the world?

That I wouldn't be opposed to.
