I have a 5970 and the latest drivers but the outside area with the Comstock statue runs like shit above medium. :(

edit: by shit I mean not perfectly smooth. :)

Anyone know how to increase the UI/texts size? It is way too small for my HDTV.

Mainly the subtitles, button prompts, and menu text.

To people with 5850/6850, if you're fine with 30 fps my advice is to just lower the shadows to normal or high at most and max out everything else. At 1080p you'll get absolutely smooth performance (assuming you don't have a bottleneck with cpu or memory).

I feel as though that's a rule of thumb to settings that applies across the board to all PC games. If you're having framerate issues, lowering shadows seems to always give a huge performance boost...

man I dont know how some of you guys are downsampling from that high. Im doing 2040x1152 and I can barely see how much ammo I have left

UI scaling gets pretty bad

im getting some jaggies but I'll take that over everything being so damn small

I can't resist it. It just looks too fucking beautiful when you downsample from a high res.

I guess i'll go nuts on a second playthrough

then again im getting 1.9gb vrm usage on some areas so I figure that if I go even bigger it might get unplayable

So not sure if this is a performance issue or not...but when I click left mouse button with the first gun I got sometimes it won't shoot. I click it several times and then suddenly there's a burst of successful shots. Is this just characteristic of 1910 handguns or is this a performance issue?

Here's my result using the Very High benchmark preset @ 1920x1080.

(GTX 480 with 314.22 driver / i7 920 @ 3.36ghz / 12GB / Win 7 64)

That depends on how picky you are. The thing about downsampling is that games just look better and better the higher you go. And when you have a decent view distance, objects further away benefit from higher downsampling even more.

Also, I post in that thread regularly. I play with all the settings I take my screenshots at. Some people just have that hardware ;)

Thanks for the tips, I will play around with the settings once I have cleared my current playlist, hopefully the game will be even further optimized by then.

Also, my mistake, I thought the bullshot thread was all about pushing your hardware to ridiculous degrees and sacrifice playability over looks, but it is certainly nice to hear that the games are playable with those settings. I haven't really played any newer titles, so I haven't really been pushing my hardware all that much (I am going through my backlog in a somewhat chronological order), but it is great to see that I am in for a treat once I get that far in my library.

Gotta love Plasma, I'm playing on an older 8G 50" Pioneer Kuro via HDMI w/ wireless 360 controller and I'm still impressed by it's PQ every time I fire up a game.

Runs perfectly well on High on my laptop which has an 2.2ghz i7, GT635m and 6gig of ram.

Some stutters here and there but its much more playable than the PS3 version which I saw this afternoon

Turning off level streaming seems to be messing up some of the scripting. Me and some other guy in the OT are having problems.

This game is god damn gorgeous!

The way the city moves, and how the people move. Yes there are some noticable low-rez textures, but nothing thats more than background stuff with no interaction on it, but it doesnt break the immersion for me.

I got some pretty bad screen tearing playing on windows borderless, but thats the only issue i've had so far.

Playing with everything on max, turned on 8x supersampling in Nvidia Inspector but it doesnt seem to be working (I haven't read this thread for information on this stuff yet).

I'm also playing at 3200x1800 resolution downsampled to 1080p, and I think its dropped under 60fps one time during combat so far.

comp specs
i5 2500K OC'ed to 4.5ghz.
16gb 1866mhz ram
2 x 680 oc'ed 10% each

I ran the benchmark, my PC is an AMD Phenom X4 3.2 GHz, 6GB DDR3 RAM and an AMD 5770 1GB.

Doing the benchmark at 1080p on Ultra (no diffusion) gave me averages from between 40-65 and the lowest minimum was 14, although I didn't notice it.

The only side was the horrible tearing.

If you look around with a mouse it is stuttery as fuck, but with a 360 pad it's fine. I can't believe they messed up the mouse stuff again. It's playable, and I still prefer it to the pad purely because of the Vigor hotkeys, but yeah, pretty bad this hasn't been fixed.

Whut? No problem here with mouse stuttering. Turn of vsync and mouse acceleration if you haven't.

Mouse works fine for me. No stuttering.

Going to have to try knocking down shadows and upping everything else tonight. I may end up finishing it at a locked 30 (blasphemy!) if only because the churning up and down during combat is kind of nauseating.

upped the textures to high and i'm still getting minimal stuttering (i7 2600k/sc 580)

this game is fucking amazing jesus christ it looks good

also combat on hard is thrilling, at first i was getting annoyed that i lost money when i died but i'm in a good place now, handling fights capably, but you still fucking die in about two seconds out in the open, shield lasts for one second and the health goes in another. but like i said, doing well now and it feels great to triumph in combat

I already have. Stuttering might not be the right word, but it's most certainly not as smooth as you'd expect from any fps game (I'm running it at 60fps so that's not the problem), it's noticeably less smooth than the 360 pad.

Crappy mouse or crappy mouse drivers :p

Nope, works fine in 99.9% of games, there's a few fps/3rd person games that are just obviously made with the 360 pad in mind as the main control input, and this is one of them (Bioshock 1 was another). It's not that bad, as I'm still playing with a mouse simply because the hotkeys make up for the less smooth mouse look, but it's noticeable.

Also the game is brilliant so far. Would have been amazing if the pc version was pitch perfect, there are just a few niggles which should be easily fixable in a patch. I hope they do.

Just downloaded the game in 30 minutes flat at work. Now to copy it to my phone and hopefully then to my PC tonight and get playing without issue...

I have no fps stats, but the game runs fine on Ultra on both my GTX 470 and 675M. It's beautiful, but it's also not the most demanding game.

Haven't played the game yet, but the only thing I'm not digging is the save system on PC. Does this mean that, if my roommate wants to play, he'll either have to erase my progress or wait for me to finish?

Or manually back up the save file, which should be possible.

I haven't noticed any issues with the mouse other than fixing the ridiculous sensitivity in the ini file. Turned off mouse accel and kept vsync on and it's great.

The save system sucks. Period. I'd dock a point in a review just for that. PC doesn't deserve a single game checkpointed system.

So did anyone who is messing with the ini's come across an option for corpse duration? One of the things that bothers me about action games is how quickly they disappear. So many different ones, wouldn't know where to look :D

Which GPUs are you two using? My PC is still in progress but I am planning on hooking it up to my 60" Pioneer Kuro whenever I get finished with it. I know that means I am going no higher than 1080p but I would like to get a card that won't be outdated in just a few months. How well does a 7950 or 670 seem to be running this game?

I had a 4GB 670 but had to sell it a couple weeks ago :(

I have a 660ti and I'm running at 1080p ultra with shadows/ssao at normal. I get 60 fps for the most part but it seems like my fps periodically drops to 30 or will lock up for a second and go back to 60.

Is this the type of stuttering the ini tweak fixes? Also which line in the ini do you tweak? I searched poolsize and nothing was found.

DO NOT TRY BACKING UP SAVES FOR LATER. I can confirm it does not work :( Played through the intro again, tried going back to my old save... Aaaaaaaaand I'm back at the raffle.

I just actually got my saves back. I renamed some saves around, and saved me an hour of gameplay.

This is one of the best looking games I've ever seen even with some of the low res textures.

The art style shits on pretty much everything else from a great height.
