Ruins the game? I'd think not...
A tiny bit hyperbolic of course but I hated nearly every scene where she talked. And P4 is probably my favourite game of the last decade. It was crushingly distracting.

Would be good for Hayter to branch out a little for VO work.
I guess he makes his living from writing and VO was just a side thing. Heck I think the old non MGS work he has done in the last 10 years was for TOR.

I haven't kept up with all of the MGSV news, but I'm going to either say this may mean that Snake will not be in the game. I mean... who the Hell else is going to do the voice?

Seems that way, which is crazy. Part of me can't help but wonder if Kojima is angry with Hayter for him calling out Kojima for the ending of MGS4 but I can't think of Kojima being so uptight and defensive that he would cut Hayter out entirely. I doubt that is it, but we may not know for sure.
It seems so strange to me that they would just cut out one of the most important things about the franchise and character of Big Boss / Snake so non-nonchalantly, at least from our perspective and info. Maybe the game will explain more, but it'll be a tough sell for me to play (and enjoy) this game with the guy who did a bunch of Ford commercials playing him. Sutherland has such a recognizable voice in so much other properties that it'll be a disconnect hearing him play Big Boss.

So fascinating, it sounds downright unbelievable.
Look, Hayter is a staple in the series.. the fans come to expect him in the game. It's a big deal that he's not the voice, such a big deal you think Kojima wouldn't be so secretive to the fans not to mention Hayter why he isn't voicing him. The only reason you'd be secretive is because either it was malicious (which I don't believe) or you really don't have a reason.
This is just Kojima being Kojima, and Hayter's tweets sound like he's trying too hard to pretend he's not involved.

We still don't know, the little dialog we heard from Big Boss sounded like Kiefer Sutherland.
So crazy hyperfans will hate it, but the new voice will actually be far superior to the old one? I can live with that.

Doesn't sound like him. As has been pointed out, he sounds like Kiefer Sutherland, but with a slightly different tone than Ishmael.
Have to say, Big Boss not making Hayter-style grunting noises is kinda weird.

This is my only disappointment from the MGS5 announcement. Hayter's voice is great and I'm not sure why they felt the need for a change.
The least they could have done is give him a chance. His voice was a bit annoying in MGS4, but he's a voice actor. He's able to speak in a variety of pitches.

Hayter is Snake to me, but I wouldn't mind a transition to Richard Doyle for Big Boss's character. I mean, at some point, you'd think they'd use Doyle for Big Boss. Then again, the voice in the Phantom Pain trailer sounds nothing like Doyle.
Maybe the spend all their voice acting budget on Kiefer Sutherland or maybe just it's another giant rouse/troll by Kojima and Hayter will be the voice of Snake in MGS5? I'm just praying to any and all Gods out there that they don't use the voice actor for Johnny Sasaki from MGSIV.

In the gameplay they showed at the GDC panel Ishmael and Big Boss talk to each other and they both sound like Kiefer Sutherland.

Yes but the poster in question just said that the change in the English voice made the character "not the same anymore", so.
It seriously pisses me off that this happens after they ditched the main theme song to some bs plagiarism claim that could have easily been settled.

Hype diminished! Snake by any other voice is an imposter. I was actually anticipating the moment where I got to hear the real Snake's voice in the intro of the Ground Zeroes demo. You know when he climbs the cliff and says something like "Kept you waiting, huh?"
