My PS2 sorta started dying in the middle of my Yakuza 2 playthrough so I had to shelve it. Would love to get this, Wii U or PS3, someone just find a way to make it happen please.

It's nice to have 'new' games, but to whom will they sell this?
The Yakuza audience is on Playstation, the SEGA audience is scattered and the Wii U needs to recover before they are able to sell a generation late port for it. Are they planning to establish an audience and bring the next Yakuza games on Wii U too? Will the rest of the Yakuza follow?

I don't know about that. . .Zombie U wasnt exactly JP catered as Ryu ga Gotoku is.

What about comparing it to other late PS3 ports? Fist of the North Star 2 was the only game released for Wii U in January and it only did like 5k units first week. The PS3 version of that game also did a heck of a lot more than 100k too.

Since most all yakuza fans in japan have a PS3 and the collection sold 80-100k there is no chance in hell the wii u version will go past 10-20k imo

I think so too, so what sense does this port make? An eShop exclusive version of Valkyria Chronicles 2&3 is likely to sell more than that.

There is no sense. This is probably just something Sega threw in to the contract deal they have.

Most likely required almost zero effort. Quick cash

i see that shade kyons

But did I lie tho?

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

Nintendo: Hey SEGA, here's some extra bucks for you if you give the Wii U any game. Any game.
Sega: ok *ports Yakuza 1&2 collection*.

Look at the bright side, at least Sega didn't port Sonic 2006.

You're saying his port will bring them quick cash and at the same time wondering why they'd release it?

A cash grab + the possibility of widening the Yakuza fanbase to cover Nintendo gamers. How's that senseless..?

If this comes to Australia, and includes the Japanese language track, then I could easily see myself adding this to my Wii U library.

I've been wanting to give the series a try, and this would be a great way to start if it was brought over to the west! I'd love for Sega to bring it over themselves, though maybe Nintendo will if they're not willing to?

Probably just a pipe dream, though...

aw man ani, that's like the worst one

I'd rather say it's the "least good", since it's not exactly terrible. The story might still be the best in the series (eternal debate...)

But thinking about it, it's true that for all the flack the series get for being formulaic, it always finds a way to evolve bit by bit in the good direction. The first one had a solid base plagued by biiiig technical or design problems (load times and unavoidable encounters being the worst offenders). But it progressively got better in 2, Kenzan, 4 and 5.
After playing 4 and currently 5, I could probably never go back to 1. 2, maybe.

... I might ask that friend of mine who has an unopened (sigh) copy of the PS3 collection to lend it to me just to see how far can my love of the series take me.

I've finished all of the localised games and will gladly play them all again if re-released on Wii U.

In fact, Nintendo, spend some of that Bayonetta 2 money on getting Y5 localised and then release a Yakuza Pentalogy. I'll defend your little console on every message board imaginable.

I just want to reiterate how awkward the talk between Iwata and the Sega guy was in the Japanese ND when they were talking about this. It was so awkward watching Iwata trying to interact with him, I guess he's not used to have guests. It kinda looked like the Mac VS PC guy, too.

Look at that leopard print backdrop. Nagoshi is the man.

yeah, i worded that poorly. it's not a bad game by any means, just the least of them, for me

one buddy quit on the driving scene...i didn't find it nearly that bad myself

Wait what

The worst one? What do I have to expect from 2+3+4 then?

my man part 2 alone is going to spoil you rotten

Yakuza 1+2 on the Wii U couldn't be more random.

eh, depends on how you look at it...i'd be far from the first person to draw the WU/dreamcast analogy by way of VMU > tablet, mid-gen, etc

obvious potshot on sales goes here

I think Sega's just throwing Nintendo a bone. Giving them a quick and easy game to fill up their pretty dire release schedule.

PS3, Wii U - don't care, in the end I just want it to come over here in some form. I'll take anything I can get in light of Sega's comments about localisation costs.

I'd really like to see a physical package hit in NA. Might even exposed a new audience to the series. I'd day 1 the hell out of it just to show support.

I can see this being Nintendo testing the market of trying to steal another franchise lol

I'm all for that. If Sega can't afford the localization, let Nintendo do it. I prefer Yakuza 5 on Wii U with English subtitles instead of having to learn Japanese.

I would then have a reason to replay Yakuza 3 + 4. And on top of that I would even get glorious meltdowns.

God, I hope not. After the Sonic petition, and Bayonetta 2, I dunno if the internet is ready for another Nintendo exclusive.

sony had their chance, but they were too good for kazzy-chan in PSABR!
for real though, he woulda been awesome there

This HD remake is great news.

I will gladly buy it for a small amount of money to play on the PS3/PS4 in early 2014.

Fuck WiiU.

You are lucky, it's already available on PS3.

But don't forget to also order this

It's a bit expensive, but don't mind - you will also need it for Yakuza 5 on PS3. You are welcome.

Seems like a relatively easy game to bring over as it's already translated into English. Nintendo did say they wanted to help bring over other companies games, and this would pad out the library a little bit.
