Shadow of the Eternals appears on Steam Greenlight

I think trying to paint skepticism about this project as holding a grudge is a position so disingenuous that I am surprised it is not coming from Dyack himself.

There is more than enough reason to be skeptical of any project he does that his slow mental breakdown he had at the close of Too Human doesn't need to even be in the top ten.

Absolutely not and if I were on Steam, I'd happily vote yes.

Iit's a damn shame that when it seems we're finally close to getting a sequel (of sorts) to ED, people can't see past their blind hatred for Dyack.

Dyack's gonna release a game on a 1.5 million budget :lol

Should take it to youtube. It's comedy week there. Dude's gonna blow through that quicker than it takes a stripper to pick up all the money from a rainfall.

That's the thing.

The main argument is "because Dyack" and that is so utterly ridiculous it makes me sick.

I want a a successor to this:

Is that so wrong?

I agree that it's stupid and petty to downvote it strictly because Dyack insulted NeoGAF (and it's not clear whether that's the prevailing motivation in this thread) but it's extremely rational to be skeptical of their ability to deliver on their promises. So when asked whether you'd buy this on Steam, it's entirely defensible to say "no" even if you loved Eternal Darkness.

Anyone got a real answer?

From EvilLore:

As Confucius once said, “the photoshop cat juggles a ball of yarn, and unravels it all over his face.” You are Baldur, Denis. You’re the poorly animated bald Norse technogod, the Übermensch with a thousand pointless book references misunderstood by the dirty proles who aren’t worthy enough to judge you.

Your favorite Nietzsche quote, “he who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster,” is one you’ve fallen victim to yourself, if your opinion of this site is to be taken to heart. In these pitiable confrontations with us you’ve proven to be the monster of gaming development, a sore on the industry and a squanderer of your subordinates’ time and effort. Through all this, through this self-inflicted PR nightmare, you’ve conquered vast new frontiers of unwarranted hyperbole and desperate pseudo-intellectual grasping. Buy an unaccredited doctorate, change your given name to Derek, and take up the reins; Derek Smart would eagerly defer to the greatness of Dr. Dyack.

What is an appropriate action to take in response to the man who continues to post here? I won’t be tolerating a second retconned “social experiment,” a second call for NeoGAF’s closing, or a second “worst forum” insult. You decided to ignore the option for real terms for your pointless tag bet, so with the majority of reviews condemning your magnum opus to mediocrity I’ll claim a suitable prize by telling you to get the hell off NeoGAF.

Are they allowed to advertise for their Kickstarter project on the Steam Green light page?
Just curious is all, wondering why it took them so long to do it.

Maybe they thought their Indigogo and Kickstarter would be doing better at this point? The Kickstarter seems to stagnating pretty bad the last couple of days.

Am I the only one noticing that they're on greenlight with a game that's not done? The idea of greenlight, according to the submission guidelines, is that you put up a game at or near completion... And here they have a game they basically haven't developed yet. What the fuck?

From Steam submission guidelines:

How early in development can I post my game?
There are two categories in Steam Greenlight: One for mostly-finished games seeking distribution via Steam and one for early builds and concepts that are simply seeking feedback from the community. You can choose the right category for your title when you post.

This game is not listed in the concepts section

1) What reason do you have to believe this game will be completed successfully?

2) What reason do you have to believe this game will live up to Eternal Darkness (or the fond memories thereof)?

It seems like the default position should be one of extreme skepticism.

I'm not against Dyack in particular. Silicon Knights however has been poorly managed and hasn't put out a good game in a very long time. I can't see this being any different.

From Steam submission guidelines:

Nah, it's the second category. It's a concept and they want feedback. The real reason though is to get some spotlight on greenlight because their KS isn't doing good right now.

No, this game is listed in the "games" tab, not the "concepts" tab. the concepts tab is for games that are unfinished. The games tab is the real greenlight for finished games and that's where this is listed.

Yeah, I saw your edit after. Sorry about that. Seems fishy.

I'm pretty sure a downvote isn't going to ruin them.

Does this mean nobody is allowed to downvote anything on Greenlight? There are people behind every game listed on there.

1)That is irrelevant to the questing being asked on Steam.

2)There are no guarantees that it will, but that can always be decided down the road. If word of mouth says it's horrible, then don't buy it, but to just blatantly say "fuck this game I have no interest" is a bit dismissive.

Yeah, this is not a legal greenlight listing.

Greenlight guidelines state that greenlight is for games that are complete and ready to go. This is a game that's not even made yet and seeking funding.

You can see here that the game is found in the regular games area, NOT the concepts area where it belongs. This is not a valid greenlight and it's simply there to exploit and market.

It's probably not going to meet its funding goal anyways.

Probably not, but I see no reason to be malicous. Denis was a total dick, but I don't see the reason to explicitly punish people who are working hard to do something potentially creative and cool.

Yes, NeoGAF, the commanding force of the industry. Just ask Sony and their number one handheld Vita absolutely dominating the 3DS.

Well then my previous post is obsolete. They are not allowed to have it on there as a game.
