Please remember region free when asking.

American's may not think it matters but it is crucial to most of the world and the competition will result in lower prices for you too.

Yeah, I would lower expectations a bit. They may say something small for us to latch onto, but make no mistake... Sony views this used game issue as a potential to really differentiate themselves from MS. The actual announcement of used games, either for or against, is likely to happen at e3.

Microsoft has changed their answer so many times and been so vague that if sony showed their hand now and it really was a huge bump for them MS could easily just come out and do the same thing. So Im guessing Sony is waiting for MS to commit and then will announce. Before then I wouldn't expect much.

In the end I actually expect both to have used game policies like last gen. The noise created by disgruntled customers in the last week is too much for them to ignore. This is much bigger than people being bothered by XBLG prices or Sony removing backwards compatibility. This is a rights issue and I think people are really bothered by it. I know I am. I have no interest at all in buying a xbone but I still want to see it gone from there because I don't think its healthy for our industry. Publishers and console makers already have us in their networks, on their social media sites, on their email lists, preordering their games for a shiny outfit... and really just treating us as shitty as they can get away with. But moving into consumer rights has really set off a tidal wave. Im glad to see it turn towards sony in a respectful way letting them know that we aren't cool with it.

It's great to hear that this could potentially sway some decision makers. If Sony does decide not to include the crappier DRM mechanics then it's just another decided schematic advantage. They've been making the right moves all along so I hope they don't give up in this last (most important) stretch.

Region free is probably already a thing. PS3 was, PS Vita was, I see no reason to change.
Sure it's publisher's own decision, and we all know how that worked out for Atlus. lol.

Man, if Sony really ends up having no anti-used game policy or drm and they announce it at the press conference, their E3 is going to be bananas.

Indeed, that was quite a PR nightmare for them.

Oh, time traveler, tell us how will this end, once and for all!

pretty sure region free is a given for ps4... they haven't had any region locking for quite some time

You would hope so, but they intentionally avoided answering the question and..... well you would think a lot of basic things were a given, yet here we are.

Doesn't hurt to let them know.

You know the industry is screwed up when they have to make an announcement giving you the rights to the property you bought in the first place.

It's not a success until we have the console in hooked up playing a used game (that was already used by more than a dozen people or something).

DON'T STOP.

You mean the used game that wasn't even cheaper than a new game a month later? Okay then, fight the good fight I guess.

Love refreshing yosp's Twitter to see the newest round of tweets. Even a good number of folks using #PS4REGIONFREE or mentioning it alongside the used games bit.

Ya, pretty much, it will still be a great moment if they get up on stage and announce that tho. Especially if they can take a few jabs at Microsoft in the process.

Another Tweet examples :

@yosp Please avoid anti-2nd hand policies, always online DRM, paid online multiplayer and region lock for #PS4,#Sony!#PS4NoDRM #PS4USEDGAMES

@yosp Please skip @Microsoft's anti-2nd hand policies,online DRM,paid online multiplayer and region lock in #PS4! Don't be like #XboxOne!

The idea is to get more exposure with your tweets by mentioning both related people (see the OP to get some examples), the hastags of this topic (#PS4NoDRM #PS4USEDGAMES PS4RegionFree), related popular hastags (#PS4 #Playstation #Sony #Xbox #XboxOne) and corporation accounts (@Playstation @Sony @Microsoft @Xbox). Also please try to don't repeat always exactly the same tweets if possible.

Well expressed. And thank you for leading the charge, famousmortimer. I've bombarded Yoshida-san with tweets!

I'd blame retailers for that rather than the console manufacturers. That is one way of viewing it, how I see it is that I like to lend games to some of my friends and I get games from them, and I don't want to have to pay for that or get a nasty surprise of having to activate or something.

The code in the disc isn't your property, even if they do end up allowing you to sell the disc with no DRM.

I think it would be best if people just posted it how they want. We don't want them thinking that we're bots. :p

What?

Ever heard of private trading? EBay? Gumtree?

One example: nintendoland is £15 preowned in CEX, whilst it's still £49.99 brand new in GAME. Same can be said for the majority of new releases on all consoles very soon after their release dates.
