If(!) Sony had plans to come out with some kind of used game block, i´m pretty sure they will drop their plans after all. This is a big chance to cement ties with their fanbase and enhance it.

That's what I was wondering. I figured the conventional thinking was that this has no chance in hell to do anything. So why would something that has no chance that ends up failing be funny?


That would be like watching a 10 year old kid running towards a basketball hoop and saying "if he doesn't dunk it i'm gonna laugh my ass off." When in reality if he does dunk it you should laugh your ass off.

the meltdowns..i remember this guy from yesterday's ps4 drm thread who said he's gonna join start reading books and do pottery since gaming is clearly out of the picture now..

who are you kidding gaf, your favorite past time is not playing games but talking about it on the internet..with anti consumer drm that only becomes easier



Edit: may be it's just i am not excited about next gen yet, nothing shown so far has wowed me like stuff did at the start of last gen....even the new killzone and battlefield just look very..similar

As for myself, I've worked in a variety of game stores before joining GameSpot and I fundamentally disagree with the language MS are using in relation to this. Put out two tweets today. Gonna keep on doing that till we get confirmation one way or another.

Also, I was talking about the Xbox One today with two brothers I babysit, one ten and one thirteen (Yeah, I know, they're too old for a babysitter. Their mom is protective, lol). Anyways, not only were they turned off by the TV focus of the Xbox One reveal, but they already knew about the anti-consumer shit. I was pretty happy about that. The word is getting out there.

It's a good idea and it's funny because you could rework the entire speech so it involves the console war/DRM issue. change the audio or find it in another language and give it sub-titles.

What are the current rumors concerning online play?... is it likely going to be behind a pay wall? I'm guessing it would be too late to start petitioning against that.

From what I've seen half of GAF thinks Sony will charge for online play because Microsoft did it and made lots of money from live. The other half of us think they won't, because they didn't with the PS3 and haven't with the Vita, plus they have PS+ as their subscription service.

  3. Do you expect more variation in games compared to this generation?
  4. What do you think of the current state of the market for devs and pubs for their survival?
  5. Are you willing to go to other options for gaming if Sony decides to go through with the DRM movement in order to gain support from 3rd Parties?
  6. Do you still plan to support the PS4 or One if they go in that direction? Which one and why?
  7. How do you think publishers/platform holders/consumers can reach a compromise, while still offering the content desired while being able to survive and profit from it?

There really weren't any real rumors about it.

I'm sure it'll stay free, but a lot of nice features will be PS+.

That would be nice to believe. I just think if MS is going ahead with it, they are completely boxed in if they don't want to just hand over a ton of XBone exclusives due to them not doing what they are told by third party publishers.

Respect. That article was really well written and brought your point across in a clear, concise and well thought out manner. The fact that its from an indie dev as well gives it a different perspective as most people are probably used to seeing articles from a gaming/tech/mainstream media outlet. Hopefully this will be added to the site. Mind if I tweet it out?

Here is my immediate thought. If you are an indie developer, the chances are you are going to be digital only. Why does this effect you at all?
