Wow, cool that we made the OPM video. They had the website URL lingering on it for a long ass time. Very cool. Thank you m0dus for designing a logo!

Added to the Newsfeed, which wouldn't be a horrible thing to add to your RSS client if you're in to that sort of thing.

Didn't know we got onto that - that's pretty damn good.

Good job keeping the website updated man. You done good!

I'm breaking six years of silence to post this:
http://youtu.be/7FYTc55nGEI
Hahaha 6 years silence for that!!!

That has got to be the worst 1st post ever lol. The fact you waited 6 years just makes it even sweeter...I doff my hat you sir, well done.

Also OT, I'm on board for the push for the 5th & looking forward to it. I have given my twitter account a breather today as I've been busy with other things, but it's prepped and ready to go. Also I like the idea of adding our avatars to the twitter accounts, I'll definitely do it.

I think maybe we should start thinking about some low level stuff.

I think at some point, probably this weekend, we (as in this thread and any lurkers willing to help) should start tweeting a link to the website, the OP and include the hashtag. Maybe even add June 5th just to get anyone curious that is looking through the hashtag feed on twitter plenty of opportunities to see that something is cooking. Something akin to:

Phase two of #PS4NoDRM is coming June 5th. Click for more info (website link) (op link)

(obviously we need to figure more stuff out and have it in the OP and website before we push this...)

We also need to figure out some of the smaller details like what is the opportune time of day to for good US/Euro balance. And I'm guessing we should start a few hours before that so it can be cooking already when the most potential people to help are on.

Should we make a new thread? I say no. I don't know how much residual traffic we will get from the old thread, reddits, news stories, or whatever... but it will come to this thread. Maybe we can, at the proper time, get a mod to update the title.

We will need volunteers to contact the press in the lead up to this. I personally would rather have it done this way.... people volunteering and then we'll split up the outlets based on how many volunteer. I think this is better than just trying to blast the press with tweets (though we can do that as well as it's starting...). Like I talked to the videogamer.com guy who interviewed me and he seemed open to the idea of doing another story about phase 2. So if he and I can work together to get something up wednesday morning that would obviously be a huge boon for us. And the more stories like that which we can get... the better.

Don't volunteer yet, btw. I'm not ready to start cutting and pasting names yet. I will start this over the weekend.... it's really something that won't need to be done by the volunteers until monday or tuesday. Actually, since these may be harder to find.... I'll take foreign language volunteers now (PM me). If we get a bunch of those we can break it up like saying "gafferX and gafferY, you guys are in charge of spanish language sites - contact each other in PMs to decide who is contacting which sites." Stuff like that...

#PS4NoDRM #XboxOneDRM will be the two official tags of phase two unless there is an outpouring of anger (i suppose i should be open to such things :p). If you hate sony or microsoft you are, of course, allowed to tweet whatever you want.

I don't think we should give up on getting new media in here but I think we should concentrate on those that already have covered it first as they are probably more likely to be interested, i would assume.

There's more, that's just off the top of my head. We don't need to go nose to the grindstone yet.... and in fact will be enjoying a night or two of rest. But if people are itching for stuff to think about/do... here ya go :)

I'd like to contribute but I've never used tumblr before. Do I just post my experience with Used games or something? How does it work?
It's really easy dude. Follow the link, fill out the form (enter a name, email & title) then type your story and press submit. You don't need to be a member or anything like that.

For the story as you said just post your experience of used games and how / why you think they should stay.

Hope this helps :)

I concur. Another "job opening" of vital importance is someone in a European time zone who can take over website duties while I sleep here in 'murica. Obviously needs to be someone trustworthy who has ample free time during the day! I could also probably use another person or two to help keep the Newsfeed updated if/when press coverage starts heating up again. You don't need to be a journalist, just able to put together a sentence.

Thx

Just occurred to me that calling them 'foreign language' volunteers is a bit dumb. It's your native language! The world doesn't revolve around the English speakers. Sorry about that.

This was the story I just submitted to tumblr. Let me know if it's acceptable.

Why Used Games = Win for both the Consumer and the Company

If it weren't for the used game market I would have never gotten into the PlayStation brand to begin with. As a kid, my parents couldn't afford many video game systems and I ultimately had to save up my allowance for a whole year in order to buy a PSOne, Crash Bandicoot and Metal Gear Solid from my local Pawn Shop. These 2 purchases helped shape how I viewed quality video games and what I expected from a video game experience. If it weren't for the accessibility of Used video games, I would have never continued to game like I did and probably would've found another hobby. Oddly enough, my Pawn Shop purchases led to my buddies experiencing games on the PSOne as well and they convinced they're parents to buy them both PSOnes.

Since then, we'd always preferred the PlayStation brand and have generally been very loyal. We've traded games back and forth and have made subsequent new game purchases because of experiences with used games. For example, my buddy let me borrow his copy of Devil May Cry 1 for the PS2. I was only suppose to have it for a couple of days but needless to say I was hooked and I kept it for 2 weeks before he had to psychically take it back from me. I'd already beaten the game 3 times in that span but I loved it so much I bought my own new copy of the game and bought the other DMC games brand new after that. I also became an action game junkie and purchased most action game releases after DMC brand new. Again, if it weren't for used games, I wouldn't have know the quality of action games and come to love them.

The trend continued this generation. I was in college when the PS3 was released and couldn't afford to buy one at launch. Luckily, my roommate bought a PS3 we both would buy games for it. He went to go study abroad eventually and left me with the his PS3 and all the games we'd purchased together. That same year Metal Gear Solid 4 was releasing and I'd become a HUGE Metal Gear fan. Since money was short again I sold the older PS3 games I had toward the purchase of a new Metal Gear Solid 4 copy. Worth every penny.

My basic point is that used games matter and they actually help expand the industry rather than limit it. Used games market means more gamers, new game purchases and loyal consumers. It's the right thing to do for the consumer and the company

I'd actually love to help out there it's right up my street, but I am back at work next week and I already know I'm going to be mad busy working on two new urgent projects (small team, no delegation, extremely long hours lol). It's a real shame, but I think it would be best for someone with more time in their hands unfortunately ;(

Looks great, lots of detail and better than my scrawl, good job ;)

Yeah this is brilliant. We need to get a mod to change the thread title to include "PHASE 2" near the right date. And we need to do alot of coordination with other sites like Reddit or something to make it huge. "Phase two of #PS4NoDRM is coming June 5th." is a great idea as well, we should all tweet it once the website and OP details are figured out.

As I don´t have any clue about developing/programming etc... I was wondering, if Sony or MS have already implemented some kind of DRM or used Game blocker, and they now decide to hear our call and want to remove it... Is ist that easy? Or could it cause a delay to their release plan?

The DRM is all software based from what we know (and I don't think it could be physical) so it'd be pretty easy to remove.

Just woke up to take a piss.
That means urinate in American.

Oh, what's that? You're reading this from across the Atlantic? Can you type words on a keyboard and form sentences in English -- Queen's or other? Do you have some free time throughout your day to stay on top of threads on GAF?

Great, please PM me. I need a EuroGaffer to update pr4nodrm.com during Phase II while I sleep in my extravagant American bed.

Thanks, um, mates!
