Graphically I think it looks nice but the gameplay reminds me of Mass Effect: Infiltrator ie. I'll pass. Games like this are no great shakes using touch controls imo.

do square even make games on game platforms anymore? ;)

anyway, if this game is great. will buy for iOS.
doesn't really matter the platform. so long as the game is good.

But if you're already supporting a billion dollar company it seems odd to curse them as if they're a mom and pop outlet. I guess that's where I'm hung up. This isn't some mom and pop coffee shop, this is Starbucks, and it seems unrealistic to try to pretend they're the same thing.

Square enix made money and became big thanks to console gamers, gamers are the source of their success, if suddenly gamers are no more the focus gamers rightly complain.
Again personally i have nothing against ios games, just give me a console version too, apple doesn't moneyhat developers right? So why not?

iOS has a big install base. presumably the cost of porting it is more than the money they'd expect to make off of it. companies don't tend to willingly leave money on the table

That's not even the problem. From the video, The Fall seems to have the same mechanics as HR; for all we know, it might as good as The Missing Link in terms of scope and quality. It's not a matter of them offering something not to my tastes, it's a matter of the platform. Why *only* iOS, when there's already an installed base ready to buy for consoles and PC and not interested in putting up with worse controls? It seems like a terrible business decision.

iOS has an ENORMOUS install base. It makes absolute perfect business sense to expand into a market that has millions upon millions of users and which has very little overhead. Especially if they're reusing assets - which they clearly are. This is an incredibly smart business decision. If the games sucks, people will just write it off as another shitty iOS game. Injustice is selling just fine, even with a craptacular iOS version. Avengers the brand wasn't harmed by the shitty apps. People, right now, are okay with bad iOS attachments to major IPs. Unless the game is a whole new metric of which to measure shit, even if the game sucks it's going to have a negligible impact on the Deus Ex brand.

I get what you're saying, but if someone suddenly makes a product that isn't to your tastes you can find a new one. If I'm a Big Mac fan and McDonald's changes the Big Mac to something I don't like, I can vote with my money and find something different. Doesn't it seem childish to curse out a company for going where the money is and entitled to expect them to cater to you (I mean the general you here)?

No, it's not childish for consumers to voice their opinions on what's being sold to them. If you like Big Macs, and they stop making Big Macs because they think Whoppers are the market they really want to be in, they're leaving an audience behind. Without even knowing if Whopper fans will jump to the Big Whopper. And it's an enormous leap to think that the money is over there. Maybe it isn't.

And for the very last time, it is not entitled to want games you want to play. Can we just stop calling every last damn thing "entitled?" Sweet Christmas.

Square Enix has lost their mind. Unless this is just some throwaway game and a real Deus Ex game is in the making.

Wait, you lost me. Are they not making a game?

there is no way in hell a Final Fantasy game like that would even work properly on a damn cellphone
also they would of wasted time on making an engine for the game then not use it
also whats so damn fascinating about cellphone games

Your sarcasm detector seems to be broken.

If you're not familiar with Square Enix's recent mobile repertoire, then this is far from the worst thing they could do.

I'm really curious to see what SE would do in response to say...300k dislikes haha. Probably wouldn't give a f*ck but that's gotta hit them somewhere and feel embarassed by it.

Still <3 you SE!

I don't have a problem with Deus Ex on iOS, per se, but not as a traditional shooter with virtual controls.

I love how the video barely shows any hands-on time and always cuts away before it starts to pick up steam. Not a good sign. I smell another Mass Effect: Infiltrator.

Good thing I wasn't expecting much when I heard the news about The Fall. Good for people who play games on iOS, but ugh. I can't do touch screen controls unless it's something like Peggle. Count me out. One day Square Enix will provide a console game I want to play again. One day...

No new Alan Wake, no Deus Ex, At least Mirrors Edge 2 looks to be real.

Mirror's Edge 2 is going to be XBox One exclusive, I bet. Just to make things even worse.

I can see the rpg's on iOS, though they need a MUCH better pricing strategy. I just can't see something like this though.

I can see it now. The future of Square's RPG's.

Type 0 timeline: Iphone>PSP>iOS
Except that at the beginning, it was a mobile game (like Before Crisis), not an iPhone game. I think the iPhone didn't even exist when it was first announced. Even if it was, at that time games coming from a company like Square Enix were just a dream.

I would've bought a PSP2 for this game. Shitty touch controls are shitty. This would've been perfect on the Vita.
