It's a true statement! A lot of it nostalgia as there have been more than one Mario RPG games since than have been better

Dillon just got a 3DS puzzle alongside his sequel. It seems like Nintendo is pushing him, so I could see Dillon getting added to Smash, especially after Sakurai lamented about the lack of new mascot characters after Pikmin while making Brawl.

One of the few games where the SP really is throwaway. It's all about the 4p mp. Though they messed up the Wii version with bad net code.

I think he will be an Assist Trophy if those are still around. Not big enough to be a character.

Maybe that's the reason I have no friends to play with. It's like Mario Kart, great game I have fun for a short time and then it collects dust.

Sonic does celebrate Nintendo history. Sort of, in a "who's still in the console business Sega" sort of way lol

Snake was only in because Kojima begged though.

To expand on this... I think there are a LOT of third party characters that helped define Nintendo as a brand... I've said it before, but Mega Man is a great example. He defined an entire genre across 2 Nintendo consoles (NES/SNES). Snake seems a little odder... simply because none of his main games ever hit a Nintendo console, but no one doubts how awesome it was to see him included.

In a way Sonic also helped define the Nintendo legacy, even if his main games weren't essentially "Nintendo's"... their rivalry pretty much defined the SNES era.

Agreed. Sonic was awesome because he had a history with Nintendo being the rival mascot. We got to live out a childhood dream of "Who would win, Mario or Sonic?", and the idea of a game having both those characters together was insane back in the day.

That's why I can support suggestions like Mega Man, that had a bunch of games on Nintendo systems & even went back to the NES style graphics for 9 & 10, but feel weird about suggestions like Cloud from FF7 when I relate him with Sony/PS1.

Look, if they're not going to add more Kid Icarus characters to the roster, at the very least, the Kid Icarus stage needs to have Viridi and Hades making fun of each of the fighters.

Yep, Mega Man is fine. If they started adding characters like Batman or Commander Shepard though? Now that would be stupid.

We didn't technically know we were getting a "trailer".

We knew it would be there in some form but this is confirmation of something probably expected by many but still official right from the horse's mouth.

Some people never believed they thought actual screenshots, some people even believe Nintendo was going to drop the ball this E3 and not show smash at all but a logo. Sakurai saying this is like a bird shitting on your face. First thing you say is omg.

What does phoenix wright have to do with smash brothers? Phoenix wright is a capcom character that's why he's mvc. The first capcom character should be mega man than probably phoenix wright or Leon but i think there's not going to be many guest spots so I doubt it

I wouldn't put it past Nintendo to create a new character ideal for Smash Bros and then leave him out. Same for Shulk. And what's the betting they don't even think of utilising Bayonetta?

Im not big on third party characters, but I hope we get some SMT love somehow. I don't expect any at all really...and its one of the least likely things, but I'd go crazy.
