I'm interested to see what kind of game this will be. I loved the first RGC, it's a shame we never got the second one.

Cool. The first GCCX game was a neat throwback. I'd love to see what an actual arcade game developer does with it, and where it lands.

I would bet 3DS since they got some dev experience with Kokuga.

Curious to find out what kind of game it'll turn out to be...

That would make the most sense. But, imagine if they went all-out crazy for the 10th anniversary of the show and make a GCCX arcade game.

You should also cross-post this in the official GCCX thread. I bet those weirdos would appreciate the news.

I'm really curious about what kinds of games will be in this one. And what different types of systems.

I'd be interested to see the do some stuff with 3D. I'd bet on a Virtual Boy style game in there, and maybe some SNES level stuff too.

Nice, it's a shame the 2nd Game Center CX game didn't get released in the west, but hope this one does X3.

Game Center CXXXXXXX.

Kacho ONNNNNNNN!

So excited for this one. I know the odds of it getting a NA-release is unlikely, though.

I guess I'll have to import a Japanese 3DS after all...

Yeah, no way is this coming over.

Hopefully someone figures out how to break the region lock, I don't think I can justify an import 3DS just to import this.

I really hope that this at least gets a digital release in the west. The one DS game we got was so cool.

Nice that Indieszero is not in the picture. The DS GCCX games are little funny throwbacks and homages to the show, but they... aren't very good games.

I hope they try something way different this time, too!

The Guadia Quest games are wonderful.

I felt like the games on the one we got represented mostly early Famicom games. The stuff in the sequel looks a lot better/more involved, but maybe it's just because the grass looks a little greener.

I thought the whole collection of games was rather amazing.

But I am a Famicom/NES junkie, after all.

I thought it was because the first one bombed like hell in the States.

Pretty sure that's what happened. I think they could have done a better job selling it – the cover was awful, and a clever online campaign would probably do well to spread some interest. I think there's more of a market for retro style games now than there was 4-5 years ago.

Could be a mix of the two, that MAYBE without the licensing fees a second shot would've been worth it, but with them it absolutely wasn't.

Although it's worth noting Half Minute Hero probably doesn't have the licensing issue and still failed to come as a PSN title, but that's probably a bit more dialogue heavy and was THE biggest bomb of theirs as I recall, if RGC was ALMOST successful enough and brought down partially due to cart prices I can see eShop being more appealing.

I think it's more likely the market is better addressed via DD, not so much that it's bigger. MM9 did pretty well as I recall and perhaps MM10 did too (or plain old MM fatigue kicked in immediately.)

I'll be pissed off if it comes as a digital-only game. But then I'll be grateful and buy it.

BTW I'd buy separate, more beefy versions of Rally King, Star Prince and Haggle Man (any version).

I thought indiesZero did a great job. The point wasn't to make any specific game a modern legend, but to get that nostalgic feel while making a game that felt modern/friendly in that it wasn't eye-bleedingly difficult (ie: Ninja Gaiden) Haggle Man, Guadia Quest, pretty much loved all of them as representations of their mini-eras in Famicom games.

The only part I didn't like was the redux games; I would have taken, say, a loose Balloon Fight ripoff over a sequel racing game that is virtually identical to its predecessor.

I'd save being pissed at a game that was successful physically, or may be again when on a new platform weeding out issues with the old, but they go pure digital anyway (Ace Attorney). If it's for something that truly, undoubtedly had no chance physically then I'm OK with digital.

Yay I loved the first one, shame we never got the second, hopefully the series will get another chance and this time in Europe too?

In cases like this, I wish it was possible to put up a digital release and offer a limited run physical edition through the publisher/developer's website.

It's just... if we get physical copies of stuff like Moshi Monsters or Puzzler Mind Gym 3D, is it that hard to make a profit with a physical version of this? :/

Bullshit. Retro Game Challenge is fantastic. Great nods to classic game history in the games (with what I must say is an excellent localization, complete with tons of in-jokes about old US gaming magazines), with several titles that are excellent in their own right (like Gaudia Quest, which is one of the best modern DQ homages I've played anywhere.)

I thought it was because the first one bombed like hell in the States.

Retro Game Challenge actually sold surprisingly well for something that was as hard to message on the retail shelf (i.e. it was easy to think it was another terrible knockoff Atari collection) and thinly marketed as it was. Maybe the TiTS situation would look different if it sold as well as RGC did, sadlolz.

I always assume XSeed's stated "100k" goal was hyperbole to deflect the question rather than a serious estimate, but clearly licensing costs were the differentiator here.

I wonder if the show having built up a healthier following online (and through the official DVDs) will help the game's chances any.

Split bump.

You guys really need to make new threads for new information.

Sorry for scrubbing out Aeana, I didn't realize so many people would be interested. :X

Will post new threads in the future.

BTW, 3DS as platform for this game has not been confirmed AFAIK. Although I think it's very likely, 3DS is just my speculation at the moment.

If it follows the DS games then probably 16bit consoles, 8bit/16bit color handhelds and early 32bit consoles. Can't wait for Game Computer 64!
