InFAMOUS Second Son Gameplay Trailer

Nate Fox was on the PSblog stream and made it sound like there are going to be quite a few powers, and this time they'll have a bigger impact on how the game plays. Smoke is for pure speed according to him.

Could well end up being Sucker Punch's magnum opus. Looks like a substantial leap from anything they worked on before. Mightily impressive stuff.

Looks awesome, but you can see it's still pretty early in development. They don't seem to have any of the more advanced powers working, so there's an awful lot of plugging away with the basic peashooter. I love that you don't have to suck up electricity all the time, though - seems like this guy won't run out of smoke juice.

This is probably my most anticipated "launch window" game! I loved the first two.

Despite how awesome it looks overall, the animations are a little janky, I think. Like how when you stop moving, it looks a bit odd. Like it's so sudden or something - hard to explain. And that animation when he was 'punching' or whatever he was doing to that thing near the end was a bit weird, too.

But those are very minor nitpicks on an otherwise very cool looking game. :)

Goddamn that looks good. Really glad that Sucker Punch is doing another inFamous, the first two were amazing for me.

Don't get me wrong, I looooove me some Infamous but that looked way more Infamous-y than I thought it was going to be. It's still a day one for me, I was just expecting the new guy to feel/act different to Cole. I was expecting some night crawler type shit.

Ah this is so weird to watch as a Seattle native, my brain keeps getting confused because the identifiable landmarks don't sync up with how the area is laid out. Totally understand why they're not going for a realistic recreation of the city, both technically and lore wise, but I can totally see myself getting lost while playing because I'm going off my mental map of Seattle and not the game's version. In particular, in some of the shots where you could see a wider overview of the city, everything looked like it was extremely squished together, waterfront was super close to everything for example.
Haha, also a Seattle native here. I was trying to see if I could identify any of the buildings in the video and I only managed to recognize the Pacific Science Center because of the giant blue letters.

BTW in the PS livestream your favourite cheeseball Nate Fox gave some new info:

-Number of other powers besides smoke, the powers level up as the game goes on and the powers become different depending on the choises you make (good/evil).

-Different powers have different playstyles.

-Some choises will be very black and white while some are more subtle.

-Didn't comment on User Generated Content coming back but he made it sound like it might be/they have some crazy unannounced features.
Wow this is going to be great.

Smoke is the first power you get. Maybe it doesn't even have some of the more devastating moves. They will show the other powers later (hopefully at gamescom)

Also I hope they have some other interesting power like smoke. Ice/electricity/fire is good and all but something surprising would be nice too.

Maybe the return of bats? lol

The particle effects and environmental destruction, fucking delicious.

I'll be honest, I'd rather play this game than any of the other announced 1st party launch games.

Looks fucking amazing.

Traversal should be a blast with the combination of the vents, hand thrusters, and teleporting.

If there's one thing I'm (slightly) worried about, is powers being just fire/smoke variations of the other games' powers. You have your normal R1 shooting, the Triangle rocket blast. And there will most likely be Square grenades and maybe an X shockwave blast.

Either way, I'm getting this easily. One of my top most anticipated next-gen games.

As aforementioned the game looks stunning and the animation is astounding that said:

  • I was expecting those papers from the boxes would remain on the floor instead of disappearing.
  • Not clip through the body of the DUP soldier (I think this means a T rating).

  • On a more general note, it's about time we saw some procedural damage done to clothing.

On the flip side three things impressed me in particular (besides the obvious ones like lighting and skin shader):

  • Light sources are well reflected. It was very apparent whenever he'd attack with his chain.
  • No noticeable pop in (a very pleasant surprise after watching KZSF live demo on GS which a ton of object pop in).

I also hope there is more close combat again.

OMG the visuals are top notch, they, somehow, made traversal look more fun, and it looks like a good portion of things can be destroyed. I'm so ready.

i love how u can move around with such speed, he kind of dashes through the air and can go much farther than just a glide. Plus less climbing with the vents more action. Looks smooth aswell, good job SP!

the only ps4 exclusive i'm interested in at the moment....

...but it's a really good one. will probably buy the system when it hits.
