So good!
So good!
I still can't believe this is realtime.

2006 ("The Casting" Tech Demo on PS3)
The good thing about having tons of memory is that larger scale doesn't pose as much of a problem, as long as you don't have to render that 'large scale' all at the same time. Their games are are in good part structured around situations/locations similar to what's presented in this demo.Well the demo being scripted and being in a small room, so yeah that can be made. But in a much much larger scale? Doubt it, but it looks really good though

I need gamersyde 1080p video !
A game where the "video game world" began to infect the actor's real world would be absolutely amazing.
Nah...
Someone with a good cam has to film this. thanks for the impressions.
I really enjoyed the tech demo. I thought it was neat
I am a little confused about how that would be implemented into a game, but I presume because it was a tech demo, nothing would be a final product anyway.
How "much much" larger does it need to be to potentially work as a game concept and still achieve this kind of photorealism? There's tons of potential just in the scenario shown.Well the demo being scripted and being in a small room, so yeah that can be made. But in a much much larger scale? Doubt it, but it looks really good though
It's true. You watch it, and you basically forget that it's computer graphics, or you don't care or whatever. You see some guys having fun acting and talking to each other and that's all you care about. That's the thing that impressed me the most actually. This crosses the uncanny valley for me. I feel a bit scared because of that.
#TeamCG from now on.

Couldn't next gen fighting games potientially look this good?
So I ended Day2 watching the extended Demo of this in Sonys booth. The buzz was non existant, the line was small, and I was curious. Before getting things going the Quantic Dream dev went on and on how there are no tricks, this is running in engine in 3D realtime with no video overlays. I was still quite skeptical. They showed everything from the press conference and then the demo went on for another five minutes. Another actor shows up in a devil costume, many more goblins appear. I kept thinking to myself this just can be. The character in the devil outfit looks absolutely real. I admit I was #TeamCG so I have been burned before. And this is supposedly real time no less. When it was over. He started to describe how many polys there were per character. And how many shaders. Blah blah. But then he started to change the lighting with the controller. To move the camera around in full 3D. Zoom in and out to see amazing details like the characters eyes. He started turning shaders on and off. Then he went into wireframe mode to show off the models. He had them do different animations like pushups to show off the cloth simulations for the clothes and hair. Because we were the last show of the day he had plenty of time to go through it in detail.
I could not compute. It was real. This is the single most impressive realtime 3D graphics demo I have ever seen in my life. I have been to many E3's and even SIGGRAPH. Never has my jaw hit the floor so hard. I put my face right up to the huge hidef tv screen to look more closely at the end. Still looked real. There can be no debate here people. #TEAMCG is happening and in real time on PS4. And it is not Kojima that is delivering. It is Quantic dream. This really deserves alot more attention than it is getting. Especially after what happened with the TeamCG vs TeamReal debate. If you are at E3, you must goto the Sony booth and wait in line for the Quantic Dream demo to see it for yourself. I asked them to release the demo on PSN store when PS4 comes out. The last argument is that this is just a demo, and what can the game look like. They were very confident that the game will look like this or better. The Quantic Dream guy listed how they made this in 6 months using tools from the Beyond pipeline. And that it was not even using the full memory of PS4. He also pointed to their pedigree, and I have to admit, Beyond looks better than many next gen games at E3.
#TEAMCG has been vindicated! Discuss.
They're aliens from the future.Evolution of Quantic Dream's technology since 2006:
When I saw this live I had to walk away when the scene turned into a joke. Too much cringe for me. Quite possibly the most yah-ish thing I've ever witnessed too..Ignore that last comment because it's a MEGA inside joke/thing
Tech demos hardly do anything for me, honestly. I can appreciate the effort from a talent/technology/know-how perspective, but to be super impressed by this is silly, imo. I couldn't care less about what the system is capable of down the line. Show me what you can do with this hardware NOW and make an actual game with concept/mechanics, etc. you know?
I thought it was amazing and even more so because I think, unlike The Casting, Heavy Rain, and Beyond, it wasn't "dramatic". It was funny, it was silly and the comedic timing was great. I would love to play a game like this with a clear sense of humor as opposed to a drama leaden, melodramatic plodding mess of a narrative.
For me the difference is this is Quantic Dream. Their games always looked better than their respective tech demos. Simply put this is the real deal. When I saw this live I had to walk away when the scene turned into a joke. Too much cringe for me. No new info other than the confirmation that TDS is not a game.
Dear Quantic Dream,
Please consider releasing your tech demos to the public on the hardware it was produced for so that we can enjoy the realtime demonstrations in realtime.
I would love for one of the first things I fire up on my PS4 to be the "Dark Sorcerer" demo for a glimpse of the future before I jump into those launch games. "The Casting" and "Kara" are equally compelling productions that I very much would love to have on my PS3 hard drive. Killzone 2's "Bullet" PS3 realtime commercial was a clinic in game engine technology, a real feather in the cap for Guerrilla Games that I give kudos for, now and forever. Quantic Dream's demo productions would be equally compelling. Being able to examine how lighting and effects (assuming toggles are available to remix effects) are implemented in the engine would be quite instructive and entertaining. And sure, we should all keep in mind that these are tech demos, not games, and we're all primarily interested in what you do with this technology in a real, playable game. But our interests vary and our curiosity is boundless - be us game developers or tech enthusiasts or just hype-minded game fans, those who would download your realtime demonstrations would cherish the opportunities to see these demos as they were meant to be seen... not in video form recorded and compressed and streamed to a PC, but live, running on the gaming hardware that your team worked so hard to pull such a performance out of in realtime.
Thank you.

It was shown at Quantic's E3 booth for the public. A developer messed around with it. Impressions here:This is really impressive stuff. Was this demo shown to press where they could manipulate the camera?
