Has anyone from Sony talked about this? Really wish I could change my PSN ID.

It was asked in the Scott Rohde PS4 interview by Giantbomb recently:

Basically, the reply to these technical questions by Scott is that he doesn't know. It was good of them to ask and good to know there are many others with these issues.

The right people need to be asked. I'll try to gather a list of Twitter accounts and SCE people that are the "right" people to ask about this.

And if the answer is that these features are not in place or planned...they need to be.
I feel that all the hardware development is all done with PS4, a ton of it is all ready to go...these last long months before console launch definitely has time to fine tune the OS featureset. The topics brought up in the OP are easy fixes, and they can even be monitized.
I hope SCE sees that oppurtunity and the demand.

And even if it isn't his department, just as it probably isn't for Scott Rohde judging by his replies in the Giantbomb interview, we need to track down all the right people to get the information from.

And again, if it isn't in place, SCE needs to be shown the demand and oppurtunity for these simple implementations...and hopefully implement them. It's not just satisfying customers. There is mass monetary oppurtunity in these features as well.

That's definitely something that I've had in mind, too. I just don't want to be unrealistic, and I want to be small and simple in my requests.
Hard to implement solutions like that will probably be lost in the noise and ignored by officials.

A simple all-encompassing solution to PS Store region woes like simply giving the user limited access to that region selection dropdown list that they had at signup would be much easier on their eyes. And if it can be monetized, then I think it's even more enticing. We are all willing to pay.

More related to Phone/tablet interoperability.

Allow both devices to control all the media on your PS4. So browsing and launching content, stop, play, ff,rw, skip, add to playlist etc. Basically like the XBMC or Yatse app works on those devices.

Also obviously (I think they mentioned it already) allow us to send PMs to people from our phones and tablets as well as with the DS4. Will be much faster on those devices!

That's a great list. I think they could also add the option to change the display name, just like steam does, at least for games if they are going with the real name profiles.

A very minor and cosmetical thing - but I think it would be cool if the Dualshock 4 light default setting would be the same color than your "PSN-ID" card.

I don't think Region Switch is really necessary, honestly. As a Canadian PS3 owner living in France and buying games from the UK, I simply have my main PSN account in Canada, with an alternate account in France where I buy my European DLC using prepaid cards... Then play my games on my Canadian account. The only problem I get every now and then is I get matched up with people in canada in select few games, which gives me a pretty bad online ping.

I wouldn't have made this thread if I knew I was the only one who wanted this to happen. I know there are many people with these gripes with PSN, and what better time to have them implemented than when PS4 is among us yet still not 100% complete software-wise.

I'll add them to OP, but what do you guys think is catchier?

A third party site like that may be successful, if word of mouth spread on it. However, just keep in mind the SCEA "blog.share" site where users could submit ideas and have them voted on, with the "chance" they may be officially implemented. There were some giant glaring issues suggested to be fixed with that, and they were ignored by officials: maybe because they weren't proposed professionally and/or efficiently, or the share.blog was purposefully made to "shut them up" with no official intentions.

What I'm proposing here is not only simple, but I feel has much more scope (to the people that can make these things happen) than the share.blog.

Another thing that is glaringly obvious after E3:
Is that we have to pay for PSN now for basic online functionality.
Although I and others are fine with that given the intense rising costs on SCE's part for these functions, we would appreciate if features such as being able to change PSN ID (additional charge) and change account region (limited to 3-6 months) were added. It is more than understandable to ask for now.

The Vita would benefit the most from region switching as it only supports a single account per system.

I agree with all points. Especially changing PSN ID and switching regions or a unified store that gives me access to the content from all regions is something I'm hoping for for years.

Yeah, and that's just on "old" PS3. Here's hoping they really get in gear with the new features for PS4...especially the ones listed in the first post.

I also noticed that 3 or more other threads have since opened on this subject. I'll have to get the links. I made this thread so that everyone who wants these two features primarily can have a place to post. Having the demand spread across dozens of one-page small threads probably won't get the word out and ultimately the word to Sony.

To keep uniformity and "backwards compatibity" with the online infrastructure, I think spaces in names are not an option. It's probably just the way things are set up, a space in a name would break things. If not on PS4, on Vita and PS3.

But changing of PSN ID is definitely very possible. SCE just needs to wake up. I'm not going to go on a happy parade like everyone else is about PS4 until they at least get the core basic features XBL had (username changing, region changing, etc).

I missed this thread. I will be moving back into PAL region in a year and will need to change region pretty bad especially if the DLC that's included with discs is still region-locked.

I might be misunderstanding the question, but:
As long as you have access to your PSN ID. PS+ doesn't really 'change or recover' your ID.

Please. We should even be allowed to do so even if we've earned trophies. Some games I'd rather be erased from my memory. Is there any valid reason to not allow this?

Also, let us organize our download list with filters! If I only want to see full games I own, I should be able to do that. If I want to see only my DLC for one particular game or all games, I should be able to do that.

The whole different PSN stores and different PSN+ options piss me off to be honest, I hate getting shittier deals because I'm not born in the fucking USA.

We get fucked in Australia gaming wise constantly. It's actually a miracle the PS4 and XB-One are priced how they are. I had to buy Okami HD from the US PSN store on my US PSN account unfortunately. I refused to pay 35$ US for a game I could get for 19$ AUD if I switched regions. Thanks to the licensing on the PS3 the game worked for both my profiles / accounts but it's a joke none the less.

Don't know about renames, aren't the Sony PSN forums tied to your username or no? It might be bloody complex code to have the rename go through to the discussion system like that.
Finally, I wish MS would do a wipe of old gamertags again, stupid bastards have my old one locked up and I can't get access to it (can't be recovered, very long story)
