Curious: was Demon's Souls getting a $5 discount through PS+ in June. I just checked the price and noticed it's 20 bucks although I could've sworn I checked a few days ago and it was $15. I really really really wanted to bite on that.

How is the Shadow of the Colossus HD port? I remember hearing some mixed things about it. I have never completed the game and at $5 I feel like I should snag it at this point. Any input?

Amusingly/Annoyingly I just finished Saints Row 3 on Xbox last weekend. Oops.

Still, here's hoping that the PS+ release leads to a DLC discount that also crops up on the other platform.

IIRC, the PS2 verhad some framerate issues but the PS3 ver. is a great 'updgrade' of it.

It's fantastic. A huge improvement over the PS2 version. Some framerate hiccups in 1080p, extremely minor stuff.

I have the same problem.

I remember Sony sending out discount vouchers for Unit 13 at some point. I redeemed one of those vouchers, but never actually bought it. Is that the problem here? They need to fix this...

There's two versions of Unit 13: the "voucher" version which requires that £5 off voucher, and the proper version that's available for everyone. It's the latter version that's free on PS+, while the former version is higher on the search rankings for some reason.

The version they have put in the Instant Games Collection category in the web store is free, but I can't get it because of the above error.

But I just searched for Unit 13 and found another version showing up as free that wasn't there when I searched earlier. So they might have fixed it already. Now I have Unit 13 on my download list :)

The HD port is probably the best way to play it, I would say so coming from someone who completed it both on the PS2 and on the HD collection on the PS3.

It's great. Wish there was a Vita version of the game. $5 is a steal for this classic.

I'm sure it is the best playable version so far. DigitalFoundry had some advice in their tech analysis though, which is worth reading:
The recommendation is clear then: whether it's 720p, 1080p or stereoscopic 3D, Ico delivers the goods - full 1080p really is quite lovely, in particular. With Shadow of the Colossus, our suggestion is to manually reset your XMB Display Settings to 720p in order to avoid the upscaling artifacts and the noticeable performance drop.

We've mentioned it in the past but it would really, really useful to be able to have the choice between 720p and 1080p modes in-game if the differences are as pronounced as they are in Shadow of the Colossus. Having to switch XMB modes to ensure the best image quality and performance really is a bit of a pain.

They have now fixed this issue. You can download the coupon version which was previously £14.99.

Kinda weird thing happened with Battlefield 3. On Monday night, I downloaded the one hour trial so I could "preload" the game for its PS+ release. Tuesday night, I started up the game for the first time and downloaded the 2 gig patch. Ended up falling asleep while it was patching. When I went to start the game it said it was expired but I was able to boot up and play it. After I played it for about 45 minutes, I quit the game and checked the store and it just had a download link. I never actually "purchased" it. Does it automatically do this if you have the one hour trial version downloaded?

I don't know what digital foundry is talking about regarding SoTC.

I play Shadow of the Colossus HD in 1080p and there are no framerate drops. I'm very very sensitive to this. If there are drops, they are not noticeable at all.

This Team ICO collection is the one of the best PS2 port there is.

People playing Battlefield 3: If you want to get in on GAF games go to the GAF console community thread and add the PS3 people to your list. We may yell at you for being "fucking newbies" but we do have "the GAF bump" toward your W/L ratios.

Do note that we're mostly based in the US so you'll be playing on US East servers if you're in Europe. If that's a problem for you find some European people or hassle Meppi to play on European servers at European times.

God, is there any way to download Uncharted 3 without getting the entire 40GB bundle? I don't have the space, and I just want single player!

edit: If I were to download the whole thing, what portions can I safely delete? I tried doing this last time and I think I went to far.

I also had a problem similar to you. The night before I downloaded the trial to "pre-load" since I figured it was the full game, and would be unlocked once I purchased the full version the next day. Download finished and I installed it.

However, I got busy and never found the time to actually run it (so I never got the patch of course).

The next day it is free on PSN so I go to the page to "purchase" it. It won't let me purchase the full game because I "already own it," yet it does not show up as purchased, nor in my purchase or download histories. Only the "Timed Trial" shows up in my download history. There is no record of the full version being purchased.

I tried deleting the "trial" version off of my hard drive and redownloading the full version from the PSN store on the PS3. The full version was available for me to download. Awful waste of bandwidth, but I thought it might somehow cause the full version to register on my account.

Now I have the full version on my hard drive, and yet it still won't show up in my transactions or my download history. It still only lists the trial version.

I am worried that once the game deal expires on PSN, it will stick me back with the trial version since it seems to have no record of me "buying" the full version.

I did email support about it yesterday, no reply yet.

The only complaints I remember reading was something about either the grip strength or how long it took to stabilize yourself was from the European version of the game, so hard mode is much harder than it should be. Basically, don't expect to platinum it, but it's perfectly playable on normal difficulty, and still much better than the PS2 version. Also, you'll apparently get a much better framerate if you force your PS3 to 720p output.

What?

All you have to do (when you're currently downloading something) is go all the way to the left in the XMB and select turn off the system from there, and it will give you the option to complete/install all of the downloads you currently have going.

The PS+ auto-on thing is strictly so your system can update games/sync trophies/upload game saves.

The Plus auto on will download your current downloads I have started many downloads and just shut it down, then it auto downloads between 2-4am or anytime you set it at.

Do you know if the PS3 stays on after 4am (for your example) to continue downloading if the download isn't finished? Might be tough to know.

Yeah I always do this too. Gets all the downloading and installing done while I'm asleep. The only downside is if the game has a huge patch in which case I just play something else and know that by the following day it will have been done.

Pretty sure it stays on until it's finished.

I could of sworn it was still downloading when I changed my hard drive and had a lot of games to redownload. I limit it now though to about 40 GB downloads so it does not stay on too long. Thing is that auto update black screen is on and I think if it is in the middle of installs you can't exit that screen until it done, usually when it updates you just press a button to get back to xmb.

It's not showing on the trophy list, and earned trophies don't pop up.

edit: odd, they show up in offline mode, but not online.

My understanding is once you have the trial, it treats it as an owned game until the trial expires. Try playing the game until your hour is up and see if that changes how it appears to you in the store.
