Put down an order for my import vita copy today, I want the Japanese text so I thought it'd be safer to import. Hopefully it won't take too long shipment wise <3

I think I'm gonna go VIta to start (I need more games for it, tbh) and then eventually double-dip on the PS3 version if/when it goes on sale or if it gets a PSPlus discount. :)

Wow, the player list increased quite a bit today, went from a little over 30 to 56 as of this typing lol. Looks like this list is doing a good job as far as it's intended. Heads up, about a week or so after the US launch I plan on changing the poll question to "what is your most used class" because by then I'd like to think a majority of the people who signed up have at least played the game by then.

56 only?? But GAF has 125k members!! I am disappoint...

Considering how the list is still new and the game apparently only just came out in japan I'd say we're off to a good start. We don't even have the OT yet and I can only imagine the numbers will go up then. I'm actually pretty stoked as to how this spur of the moment pet project grew like it did

Look at the price in Japan and you will understand. Prices can range from 7000+ to - 6500+ JPY. Which is quite expensive when put into comparison with other titles on the VITA. Even some PS3 titles. Sure its a niche game, but if they wanted to move more units at launch and prevent the initial curious buy then sell, they should have gone for at least the 5500 range with SRP. Game will be cheaper in the US than Japan thats for sure at launch anyways.
Ah, I see. I thought you meant the US price. My apologies.

Licensing. While it may work one way, doesnt mean it will the other. For the voice work that is. Its an unfortunate problem that still plagues japan. Same goes for music,
True... but if they paid the licensing for the in-game audio, why would narration be much different?

It all depends on the negotiations, no idea whats in the contract, but perhaps the VA who did the narrations / group he belongs to wanted extra money for overseas licensing if used.

Im really hoping for some DLC characters in the future. Am a little let down that there isnt a thief class, though we do get stuck with that NPC Loni the thief who follows us around.
Used to love playing as the thief in D&D.

Before hoping for DLC do hope that this game meets sales expectations, though Im a little put off by the price of the game with how high it is for a 2d side scroller. Am sure a lot of other folks feel the same way, who would have been potential day 1 buyers.

Why does it being 2d mean it should be cheaper? I'm sure as much or more work went into the animation of this game as any 3d game.

A lot of people won't sign it. I won't sign it because my friends list is full of people I actually know on here and elsewhere. Don't take it as a sign of the game's popularity.

Ahh...that's comforting. I sure hope this game sells well! Looks so damn amazing!

This isn't all the skills, but just figured I'd show you guys the two upgrade menus, found in the Guild.

Does the Japanese version have English in it?

After watching the Gazer boss, I don't want to watch anymore. I've spoiled enough. My preorder is paid for. I should just wait and experience the rest fresh.

Yeah, it does. Dual audio and dual text.

dude, no dual text
unless you're talking about vita version or something which i don't know, but kirbysim (gamefaqs guy who finished normal mode 2-3 days ago) clearly mentioned in his thread it does NOT have dual text

The Japanese version only has Japanese text. However in the game settings you can switch the narrator/dungeon master's voice to English, which changes everybody else's voices in English (except for those of your characters, which you can set individually to be Japanese or English) - so you don't really lose any story comprehension.

remember, atlus already mentioned for english version we're not getting the options to change the narrator's voice actors/actresses like the japanese version
english version will have dlc (free for limited time) to change the 6 player character's voices to JP, but not the story narrator, which is a shame since i really wanted inoue kikuko to narrate my story :(

This game is getting slaughtered by amazon.jp reviews. Those guys were bitching about things like "this game is just a sleep inducing linear button masher" and "gameplay is too simple without depth. Dungeons are only 5 or 6 rooms per level". God what the fuck did they expect?! This will not put my dent in my faith though and I still cannot wait to crack open my copy waiting for me at home tonight!

Is this game playable with arcade sticks?

Does it use the right analog stick for any weird functions or is it straightforward like Mystara?

Left stick is for movement, dpad for items, and right stick to move your curser to command an AI partner to open chests and stuff. Though you can swap dpad and left stick functions.

tl;dr, no arcade stick sadly.

Ugh, can't believe this!

This a spiritual successor to classic beat em ups and they overlook something this important.

I'm still getting it but that really sucks.

Day one amazon reviews are usually just haters. I checked out the other reviews of some of those 1 star guys and they basically just give bigger games 1 star on day one.

Well, the art book is still listed as a pre-order bonus on Gamestop's website, so I don't see why you wouldn't get it if pre-ordering.

I really hate retailer exclusive bonus.
I pre-ordered with CD Universe and they are not offering the art book :\

GAWD DAMMIT!
One Trophy List, it's shared, FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!
Do I cancel Vita version? ; ;
You seriously ordered an extra copy just for trophies? o_o

Wait, when did Atlus say we can't change the narrator's voice?

The DLC is to change the narrator to the characters; the ability to set your character's voice to JP is standard.

The bonuses aren't retailer-exclusive. Lots of places have the art book.

My local stores can't confirm if the art book is available with PO although usually they are able to match NA's limited edition offering here in Asia. I'll have to go with Amazon.

CD Universe isn't on that list :(
I had to pre-order with them because they ship to MX (and it isn't prohibitively expensive).
Ah. Well, CD Universe is getting the game from somewhere, so they should also be getting the book. Maybe contact their customer service and see if you can get them to send you the book as well?

Well that's a shame. It appears as though Index has pulled all live NicoNico streams of Dragon's Crown. I was right in the middle of watching one when the stream went down, and now all subsequent streams are also being shut down. :(

i don't know man, but i see a lot of people in gamefaqs saying english version won't have the options to change the narrators, something about how the original narrator for the JP version has already died

ok after checking out the thread, maybe there's hope, in the JP version someone mentioned someone got an amazon voice pack drop
so maybe it's both a DLC and a rare drop from in game (the voice pack can be sold for 1 million gold lol)

This may be a stupid question, but does the JP version have dual language menus?
jp version has english audios but not text

does anyone know how long this game actually is?
gamefaqs guy cleared normal mode in 15+ hours (only 1 character though)

That siliconera article earlier in the thread is a bummer, confirming the 20 hour per character playtime (seemingly), confirming that I'll be leveling up a persistent character all the damn time, and explaining that difficulty levels are more in the vein of EDF/PSO than actual isolated modes.

I'm looking forward to it, but man. :/

CD Universe Customer Service said:
I'm sorry, we are just selling the game. We do not have the bonus art books available.
</3 :(

Were you expecting a Guardian Heroes kind of system? That's what I thought it'd be at first too, but that was before I found out it had loot and such. The way it is now sounds like Diablo, and from my perspective that was good news. Interested to see how long it'll take to hit the level caps, or if hitting 99 is feasible at all. I know I never got any maxed out chars in D2 and I was fine with that.

Game looks awesome. My only concern is how busy the game can get on that stream. Can barely tell what's going on sometimes with all the shit flying around on the screen.
