Of course you've got your bandwagoners who don't care whose back they have to climb on to get a couple potshots off at Fish and Blow, but eh. Most GAFers got it right, and that's heartening.

Phish and Blow may act as assholes from time to time, but that's just because they're telling their own opinions (which are of course sometimes wrong, like with every actual human being), while game consumers became accustomed to the pandering, dumb, least-common-denominator, corporate dicksucking style of marketing and PR manipulation, of which game "journalism" is just one cog.

In other words, people got way too used to corporate processes with exchangeable human faces and get shocked when they see actual humans with independent, individual opinions infiltrating the "industry" propaganda outlets.

Better rant would have been getting onto Fish for not fixing his game on Xbox 360 when it was free to fix months before it became public knowledge. Too busy working on Fez 2 apperently than fixing the game breaking bug on the 360 it appears. That's a better story to make your point about this guy.

He's releasing the patch. It's not his fault Microsoft kept the policy change in the dark. There are other developers who were in the same boat and heard about the changes late.

I support guys like Blow and Fish....hehe...they are just being honest. They might not be the nicest people, but they are talented and are just vocal about their stance on things. People arent used to the big game companies doing this because of legal and lawyers and a variety of reasons, so when they see it happen here they call them assholes.

I have to admit, the bile with which Marcus Beers spat out "you fucking hipsters" made me laugh... But I do think he is overreacting. What Blowfish said on twitter wasn't worth more than an eyeroll.

I'm really fed up with loudmouths on the web like Beer who shoot first and ask questions later.

That's why Kyle Bossman is so refreshing. He doesn't scream or curse, always sees the good side of things, brings up really good points, great sense of humor and looks like a genuinely good guy.

It may be disrespectful but it's not being a dick in my imo. He surely has balls to say it but it's not like he was saying something that half those people in the room wasn't thinking. Shoot, tell me how many people don't believe that today. It so bad that people like Kojima and (Soul sacrifice guy, can't remember his name) has to speak to japanese devs to help them understand western development.


It's easy to point out the guy who talks openly and call him a villian but it hard to accept what he is saying has some merit. I won't say that ALL japanese game sucks but compared to others out there, they have lost their touch and half of them make no sense.

Agreed. That kind of "edgy" angry video critic attitude is so tired, and it's always only ever a sentence away from a faux pas. I go to GT mainly for Bossman and that awesome narrator that's on most of their interesting videos like the timeline series and pop fiction.

That's something as "Humans" we do. Your basically saying he has neither of those qualities you just mentioned. Do you know him personally to say he has no humility and empathy? I like Phil because he just says it like it is. He has his own opinion. I may not agree with everything he says but he still says stuff that has merit.

Like i said, it easy to paint the outspoken guy as the villain but hard to accept what he is saying.

If someone is being a bitch, and that one person calls her a bitch..That person would be bad for saying it out loud but it certainly wasn't something no one else wasn't thinking.

I partially agree as well but this is a guy who has worked with MSFT before and has seen more of their inner workings than most of us here. There's a reason why indies have been flocking to Steam and PSN and even WiiU these last few years over MSFT.

And he's fucking talking about how GI shouldn't cover them in the future and they should be fucking groveling for coverage and thankful for every time their name is mentioned, when he (and anyone else who's talked about games journalism in their life) has previously bitched about the relationship between large publishers and the press. Self awareness, man. Beer comes off as a total cunt in this, especially with the lack of anything but completely anecdotal evidence.

I never really watched his show so I don't have a "NEVER WATCHING AGAIN" comment, but this is just immature and unprofessional.

I know it's not true for some but the vast majority of people don't get paid to post on Gaf. This isn't a profession so trying to hold a forum of hobbyists to that standard is just a tad ridiculous. Especially when such a standard isn't employed across the board for said profession in the first place.

Blow and Fish where obviously where going to be asked about the Microsoft indie 180. They where slaming Microsoft for years on twitter and are very against the lack of self publishing. They have become the face of Indie games, so why the surprised people want to ask them something when the 180 happened.

Did you even read the post I made? This quite literally what i'm calling people out on. NeoGAF, (as in the fucking website, do I even need to say it?) has all the things I said in my original post. And while, yes, you're not getting paid. It doesn't mean you (As in the people of NeoGAF. Again, fucking obvious.) get to slate an ENTIRE INDUSTRY.

So yeah, stop lumping 'Games Journalism' under one banner please, that would be great.
