Why people are holding off on the predictions? Go wild, people! Dream!

There is no impossible. Anything can happen. HYPE AWAY.

3D World - Release date, some new footage

Wind Waker HD - Release date, Wii U bundle, new difficulty level

Wii Party/Wii Fit - new shit whatever

DKC:TF - Release date, new character

Link Between Worlds - Release date, some connectivity with WWHD, new features

Pokemon X/Y - New Pokemon announced

Some new footage of Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros. (Challenger Approaching?) but no release dates or anything.

Third Sonic game revealed for a 2014 release.

Wonderful 101 jizzing.

GBA/N64 VC support announced, along with cross-transfer between 3DS and Wii U.

Oh, and new Zelda, Metroid, Star Fox, and Miyamoto IP announced. All for 2014.

I predict the following.

USA
  • An exact release date for The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
  • A Pokemon X/Y Bundle.
  • A final look at Mario & Luigi: Dream Team which shows off a new area in the game.
  • An exact release date for Mario Party for the 3DS along with a final title for it.
  • Localization for that Mario AR Picture APP, Denpa Men 3, and the AR Chibi Robo title.
  • A trailer of "hot upcoming third party 3DS games that includes Senran Kagura Burst, Etrian Odyssey Untold, and others.
  • A little bit about the Streetpass Plaza titles and the Streetpass Relay.
  • A confirmation on unified accounts/miiverse 3DS that says "Winter."
  • A small look at Wonderful 101, Wii Fit U, Wii Party U, and the White Deluxe sets.
  • Some kind of Virtual Console Announcement for the Wii U. Most likely Sega Genesis titles.

Well, that's my predictions. There you go.

This is The August Nintendo Direct. The one that people had said would do some redeeming after E3.

Bombs will be dropped.

Hyped! Live Direct threads are also one of my favourite aspects of GAF.

Predictions:

Firm dates for the rest of the year
Talking about the recent 3DS updates
Going into more detail about the games coming out for the rest of the year
Announcing the Black 3DS and Pokemon 3DS
Talking about more eshop promotions for buying certain games
Talking about the Wii U Summer update, probably out within a few weeks or less

When you wish upon a star:

A Smash Bros reveal of some kind

Did anyone of significance say this or do you mean GAF in general believes/ hopes this?

I can't get hyped for these directs anymore. Most of them are letdowns. Unless there's a new Smash reveal or Zelda U announcement, I'll be disappointed. The "titles this year" blurb isn't promising.

EDIT:

If there is a 3DS redesign though I'll be on cloud 9; I'll probably finally buy one

No, they won't. Maybe one bomb. No megatons; perhaps a few minitons. Judging by their release strategies lately, Nintendo won't drop a bomb at this point until November 2014

There will be a surprise trailer for FExSMT for Wii U with a mention that the Atlus sale went through and they are now a Nintendo 1st party.

Persona 5 is in pre-prod stage for Wii U.

Wii U price drop on WWHD release date.

I can't wait to see all of the GAF reactions in this thread 19 hours from now.

Mother 3 please.

SMH at anyone trying to get hype going for this after the debacle that was E3. Nintendo used to have events that guaranteed awesome, surprising announcements. Now we never know what we'll get.

EDIT: If they haven't given the 3DS Miiverse functionality at this point...

Highly doubt it. They would save that kind of bomb for their "fall conference"/direct next month anyways though.

Directs have had way more interesting things than this year's E3 or the last. Or the one before that. It's sad, but Directs are the new E3. The fact E3 has become a Direct is evidence of this.

That's not under dispute. I'm saying it used to be we knew when awesome things were coming and could get some justified hype going. Now, what? Maybe 24 hours of uncertain hype? Tis not a good way to get your fanbase excited

Can I hold you to that?

just a prediction. similar to what they did with the 3ds price drop in august 2011.

with them pulling basic sets from shelves, are they really going to go into the holiday with the only Wii U SKU out there costing $350? absolute suicide when there is going to be a $400 PS4 available. I don't care how many great games you have coming.

Nintendo's been making some near-suicidal decisions lately. If they don't drop the price, it'll be proof of the head-in-ass syndrome they've been showing symptoms of and the Wii U will just implode. If they can't sell consoles when there isn't a PS4 or xb180 down the aisle...

Especially since the Wii U hasn't been reaching that casual consumer base that's moved on to tablet apps or is satisfied with the Wii.

Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.

To my mind, every single Direct has been far more exciting than E3.

E3: Limp Nintendoland Firework finale, Retro making Donkey Kong.
Direct: Bayo 2, X, Sonic three game exclusive, Earthbound being localised, Namco working on Smash, 3DS XL......

If the 3DS Art Academy is anything to go by, yes, it teaches you how to draw. It is a pretty nice piece of software. I can see Art Academy selling a few Wii Us, specially with the Miiverse integration.

Yes, it really hit me that the Wii U can be used as a giant DS after seeing Art Academy U mentioned during the e3 direct, and it got me thinking. I think the Wii U's ticket out of the mess it's in isn't just "more games" but more software like Art Academy U that actually turns the console into something genuinely useful to own. It can bring more visibility to the cool concepts that were tried on the DS and I think some of those concepts can be presented in "ultimate" form now. I joked once about how learning to make a "furry Donkey Kong' means they can make a furry dog in Nintendogs U lol. Nintendo is the kind of company that can actually give a damn about this educational/simulator software and polish it, and I don't think it takes a "Tomb Raider" budget to create such software. So, I'm always hoping I see more of that kind of software announced because that is what I think can differentiate the Wii U now. edit: Now I'm dreaming of that Korg DS program and having a music creation program on the Wii U, lol. It is this creation software that used to be the domain of the PC that can finally be brought to consoles now that consoles have the proper storage space, and the gamepad can be used to facilitate the creation process. (I'm also interested in Microsoft's Project Spark and how it performs).

And sorry I went off on a tangent, so let me just add: Hope they show more of X even though it's 2014, and may as well hope Mario Kart somehow is able to release in 2013, why not.

Well, that's my predictions. There you go.

What not even a release date for Wind Waker HD?

I always find it hilarious that people take the description of these events as EXACTLY literal. "Focus on" doesn't mean "Will exclusively only be about, and will not include ANY other content or games." Remember Luigi Special 2? Or any of the other ones where it was said to focus on one thing, but had amazing other things and announcements? I love the openness of Nintendo Directs- there could be ANYTHING in them, no holds barred! I can't wait.

Its no labled as mini or titled as a Wonderful 101 Direct

so what the hell, +100,000 hype, I have nothing to do tomorrow anyways in the morning.
