SE needs to get shit together. It's baffling how unorganized all this seems. Also, na.square-enix.com says I've been a member since 2010, but I remember having a Members account since at least 2008, when I won the FFIV contest for the DS case. Wtf? I can't keep track of all these accounts, and I've no idea if my Members and SE account were linked.

They did a bunch of account maintenance/merging at the beginning of this year. You may need to contact support about it.

Ooookkkk so apparently SEA account, Square-Enix Membership account and Square-Enix ID are 3 differents things.

I have no idea which of my SEA/S-E Membership account is linked to my S-E ID.

The pre-order page requires to log in with a Square-Enix membership account instead of the actual Square-Enix ID which is used to store your FFXIV account registration info.

I think I screwed up because my wrong Square-Enix Membership account has the same username as my correct Square-Enix ID.

WHY DOES THIS HAVE TO BE SO COMPLICATED

So why is this pre-order member site different that the SE Members site?

Because:

Probably best to stop trying as if it does go through you may get wrong codes. They urge that you stop trying for this reason and it is clear at this point that it isn't just server overload.

Some of the stuff that people are posting on the forums from reps is basically saying that even if you register it you will probably have to do it again when they fix it. Anyways no really as it isn't gonna benefit you till early access and even then they will have it fixed by then.

Wait, what? Why wouldn't they require you to sign in with your Square Enix ID [the account associated with Final Fantasy XIV]? That's just...backwards. Why force you to register on two separate accounts that pertain to one thing? I don't even remember my Square-Enix Membership details. ~_~

Edit - Okay, I just signed into my Square-Enix Membership account but only have options to link current services [such as XBL, PSN, Steam, etc.]. Is that all the Membership site is? Not that I'm going to be entering any codes until they fix the current problem(s), I'm just trying to get everything in order prior.

Yeah, I don't even know what account ID is tied to my account ID for FFXIV. I am worried that when I register the game that I won't have my character from Phase 4 and wasted my code.

So confusing.

Oh crap, how did you figure this out? I used my FFXIV account ID and it logged me in, with all of my info, but it says that I've only been a member since tonight!

So my friend who bought the collector's edition of 1.0, pre-ordered no less, tells me that he doesn't get early access because he didn't pay for 3 months of that awful game and thus doesn't qualify as legacy?

Yes, good luck trying to play with more than 50% of the population that have almost all classes maxed if not all after all the abuse with power leveling/etc that was allowed and used + abused.

Whoa now. All the content is still level capped, and they all still need to get used to the new skills, combat system nuances, and boss battle adjustments.

Firstly, the assertion that 50% have all maxxed is wild speculation.

Secondly even if it was true they still have to progress their questlines and grand company progression.

Thirdly, this issue becomes moot at the high end and you never need more than 3 other people before high level content anyway.

So you're still spreading BS.

I was able to access my Square Enix Members account (where it showed my registered games and stuff) a few weeks ago, but with the new site layout, I've no clue what's going on. Is there a way to check from my Square Enix ID if my Members account is associated with it? They're using the same email address.

Yeah, the members profile page is really weird and my e-mail/username/address info doesn't correspond to my Square-Enix ID I use to log into the game.

This is so confusing.

Wow, so this whole situation has actually managed to get worse since this morning? Sounds like the safe bet is to just ignore this shitshow for tonight and see if there's any news tomorrow.

Yeesh. Saturday's going to be quite the adventure.

You mean the wolf quest? I think they changed the whole thing. The wolfs were a different color(?) and they all attacked you at once in stead of you getting close to the boss wolf.

Yeah, I couldn't remember a lot of it from P3, just that the NPC wasn't there.

During P3 I was able to circle around the entire group and get behind the Alpha.

He should have gotten an email inviting him to the beta and at that point could've set up his old 1.0 game to be superseded by ARR. This is what happened to me. Now, I'll get ARR for free and I've been in each beta. I don't know what will happen to your friend though if he didn't do this and this shit is bananas.

This is so confusing.

In the worst case scenario, the pre-order bonuses will be tied to an account that is not the FFXIV account, right? Oh shit... certainly that couldn't be true? That's a nightmare situation right there.

In a linear progression game, people will have a noticeable head start in end game and the economy. With each character having the option to level all classes and professions, that will dilutes things compared to other mmo's.

If a person is on the fence, they honestly should roll new server unless there are people they want to play with on a legacy server, which is why I'm rolling on a legacy server.

Having a head start in this game is purely.a vanity status. Without any global contested others being ahead has no impact on your ability to progress.

It looks like the issue on SE's side, not GMG. A CS rep said as much, and it has been reported to happen with Amazon and SE codes as well.

I know that when I first got my Amazon code a few weeks ago, after preorder, and went to the site they told me and entered something, it told me that I would get an email when they were ready to take the codes. I haven't gotten that email yet so I haven't tried to put in any code yet. Has anyone actually gotten that email from square, or was this all people jumping the gun/GMG sending out an email themselves about it?

I agree completely, and thought this issue was long dead.

I kept getting errors on the SE site, but I just received an email with a PS3 early access key... which doesn't work and gives me an invalid key message. How would I link that early access key thing to my FFXIV legacy account? Is it automatic after redeeming it on the PS3?

So if I entered my 18 digit and it gave me that stupid site where I can type anything I want in the address bar, will I be able to reenter the 18 digit in hopes that I get the code later?

is it going to be like the beta and start saturday morning until monday morning or will I be able to play from saturday on?

I haven't gotten the e-mail saying it was open from SE, but I'm sure people that pre-ordered it today are getting that original e-mail we got telling them to go to the website and seeing it open.

So what? Doesn't mean you can't play and get stuff done. Just like any other MMO that's been out for a few months where items are plentiful, high level players can help you get caught up, and money is easy to make because people have money to spend on your stuff. I know it's a super hard concept to grasp. You sure sound bitter.

When you went to the site specified, it ask for your email. Once entered they gave you a message stating that SE would email you with further information when the time came to redeem you pre-order bonuses.

I think people ultimately jumped the gun and broke the system since no emails were ever sent out (from SE).

I feel bad for the people who get through and it registers the game in their account on the wrong platform or people who get wrong codes because if they say contact customer support to get your account fixed good luck with that around launch time. Their customer support is an ordeal when the game is working I couldn't imagine.

Well, if people wanted to play an MMO that's already established, there are a lot of choices out there. Some people really enjoy getting in on the ground level with an MMO.

I don't know why this keeps coming up. Things are the way they are, and SE has catered to both legacy players and new folks.

A lot of people prefer to have and be on fresh servers. That's why legacy toons are locked to legacy servers and a good portion of the servers are non-legacy.
