I saw this game running live at Gamescom with the GT6 booth nearby and GT didn't look much worse. Not hyped for the graphics, but I hope the gameplay will make up for it.
Prepare to get gif'd

I don't know, maybe there just needs to be better footage, but that reflection just looks off to me. It's too pronounced and too opaque. It's need to be more subtle. Right now it's kinda in your face like a bad lens flare instead of being realistic. Hopefully they'll adjust it before launch.
The thing about that dash reflection that makes it so impressive to my eyes is that is also gets partially obscured by shadows from the trees on the glass. thats what sells the illusion, imo.
No lighting? This gif looks more real-life than the DriveClub and Forza one... but I saw now that it is really GT5 (the objects just vanished from nothing on the rearview).real life is bleak, gray and no lighting?
Really? Dash reflections seem much more realistic in DC.
Anyway, OT.

Drive Club on top, Forza 5 below.
I love this camera in Drive Club:
Much more usable than the traditional "in-car view", but you still get the in-car feeling.

I think Forza 5 looks amazing. And it definitely has the leg up over Driveclub with image quality, as well as being 60fps. The lighting just looks so much better on Driveclub, though, as well as the gorgeous fully 3D environments. I really hope they improve the image quality on Driveclub, even if they don't get it to 60fps. Could be a VERY good looking game.
Yeah, looks like a dash cam or something. It's nice.
This thread is selling me on the game.
That is still the most real gif ever
I just know GT5 does not look like that in gameplay
It's in your face when the sun is flashing right at you. It's more subtle in other situations, and considering the day/night cycle, there's gonna be tons of those.

Fiiiiiiinnnaalllyyy. Havent seen hood view before.
100% sold now.
Actually I think it is just really hard to design realistic looking lighting and shading. There is as much artistry to it as there is science. Polyphony's artists are obviously there.
I would like to pay the upgrade price from the PS+ version but I want a physical copy.
Forza has great IQ, great motion blur, great shadows.Yea, that sums up the difference to me.
Forza looks great but has that gamey look to it, which is good ( eye candy, more vivid colours) but makes it look... fake in a sense.
Driveclub on the other hand may look a little dull in comparison but overall just has a more natural look and feel to it and the environments.
I much prefer Driveclub's look though, just looks more real.
What motion blur?Forza has great IQ, great motion blur, great shadows.
Driveclub would look a lot better it could improve on the above.
Look at the gameplay videos. What motion blur?

Seems pretty realisitc.
Baked lighting VS dynamic lighting is a big difference.
Forza looks good, Driveclub looks almost photorealistic.
Hey, this game's 1080p, right?

What that gif has to do with baked vs dynamic lighting is beyond me.
And if you're going to compare windshield reflections, this is a much more appropriate gif.
The visibility of it is entirely dependent on the lighting conditions. Shadows can be seen moving across the reflection and hands/steering wheel are seen in real time as well.

Really interesting comparing this to that of DriveClubs. You can tell immediately which is pre baked and which is dynamic, because Forza 5's sort of just randomly appears out of no where whilst DriveClub's exactly correlates with the gleam of sun that appears through the tree's.
What am I even reading?
Look at the way the shadows move across it and how it fades away as the car turns away from the sun.
Where is the sun?
Forza has better motion blur than Driveclub, which is suprising. I think they just added the motion blur recently because I don't remember it there in the E3 build.
In the sky? What a silly question
The positioning of which is not really clear. The entire sky is the same hugh. I know I'm nitpicking, but in terms of lighting accuracy, that scene is off. There is no good indication of which direction the sun is coming from. Not even the railings and flags are casting shadows in the correct direction, nor is the reflection of the dash reacting in any sort of realistic way. It's sort of like Turn 10 just decided that particular spot would be a good time to introduce some dashboard reflection. Not that it matters much, or as if you'd really notice racing at such speeds.
Anyway, OT...
