Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMIX |OT| Sora is Everyone... in HD

What is the big difference between Sword, Shield, and Staff in Final Mix, anyway?

They've been rebalanced between KH1 and KH1FM, but basically the one you choose decides the order in which you'll learn certain abilities, and the one you choose to leave behind affects your endgame stats.

Staff is generally seen as the best long-term choice by most because it affects how much total MP you'll have by the end of the game, and your MP stat is also your Magic Power stat, making it doubly valuable.

Picking the Shield gives you, I think, more item slots and HP. I can't remember what picking the Sword gives you that you couldn't make up for by consuming Attack Up items, but the Sword does give you some pretty ace passive abilities early on in the game.

You get the new attack modifiers super early. Staff gets Stun Impact and Ripple Drive at levels 6 and 12 while Sword gets Sliding Dash (and Blitz that was in the original) and Shield gets Slapshot (that is kinda lame but shield gets the best abilities in the game earliest).

Also there is the MP difference with staff.

I'm in, getting from Amazon. Wish it had a better CE or something, but better than nothing. Can you play this in 1080p?

Same. That's why I decided to make my own pseudo-CE by ordering these action figures and uhh, pretending, that they came with the game? :p Technically they are the DDD versions but no big.

I did manage to get the limited artbook edition though! Thanks, amazon.

It is vastly improved since they reworked the camera

I actually never really had a major problem with the camera in that world, it was more or less the actual traversal (going up and down and turning around when underwater). I found it to be a major pain in being so archaic in how you were made to move around even for it's time and it almost completely put me off the game at the time I played it. Now, this was quite a while ago still so maybe I'm exaggerating things, IDK.

On the flip side of the coin, thinking about the Tarzan and Alice in Wonderland worlds makes me really want to play this again.

And yeah, there's that. Final Mix's new combo modifiers (basically, they're all additional combo starters/finishers) have a pretty big effect on how combat plays because they power up Sora's ability to reach enemies quickly and his ability to deal damage to groups of enemies with melee attacks (as well as his ability to occasionally do single-target very-high damage with Zantetsuken).

I hope they took that extra localization time and did something about the bad lip-synching the Japanese version got. Also fix that issue with special (Reaction command) attacks and the command to "send ally characters to attack targeted enemy" tied to the same button (Triangle).

But I'm not holding my breath.

Eh, they have cool stuff too. I still find it peculiar how they are the most maziest worlds perhaps while being the first ones.

I need that MP bar. Team staff it is.

This issue is weird to me because the change to the camera controls totally frees up the L2/R2 buttons for this, if I'm not mistaken.

But yeah, that and the fact that the difficulty trophies don't stack. :-I

KH2:FM is a huge, huge improvement over KH2 (but yes, vanilla KH2 was massively flawed).
Anybody want to explain why KH2: FM is so much better? I loved KH2, but I was like 12 when I played it.

On topic, I cannot wait to grab this game. I don't know if I can even handle the nostalgia overload. KH1 is one of the most important games I've played.

GameStop artbook worth it?

It has been a long and brutal wait for this one. This week is going to go by so slow...

Oh well, I already own the Final Mixes so I'm not in as bad a situation as a lot of people haha. I sure cannot wait to get my hands on it though.

They're two of the worlds that stand out to the most to me so I'm assuming I must have enjoyed them at the time lol, although I haven't really played KH1 in probably almost 10 years now.

It has TONS of new stuff and at least tries to improve some of the biggest flaws of KH2 such as KH2 being too easy, they added Critical Mode+Zero Exp ability. KH2 having less exploration and collecting sidequests than KH1, they added the Crown Puzzle sidequest. Shitty postgame, they added 14 late game superbosses. And tons of other stuff.

KH2 adds an entirely new (and extremely gameplay-significant) new Drive Form called Limit Form (can be used without removing Donald and Goofy or when neither of them is in your party, uses all of Sora's moves from KH1, gives you Dodge Roll, and, IIRC, heals you when you do damage with it).

It also adds assorted new abilities and Keyblades, some new enemies, and TONS of new optional bosses (most of which are harder than KH2's optional Sephiroth battle).

Lots of content and lots of improvements; it's great.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
It's almost time.

Nabbing the Marluxia avatar in anticipation.

I only found out last night this was out next week. I still need to preorder!

KH1 was my game of last generation. I then waited so long for KH2 and was so disappointed.

I cannot wait for this.

Wow, that all sounds great to me. It's likely we get that with 2.5 right? I haven't played BBS so that package is looking stellar to me.

Pre-Ordered this weekend.

I am excited to replay this game.

Last time I played I got everyone to level 100, beat Sephiroth like 30 times to get it lol. Got all the ultimate weapons if I recall correctly.

Is the Crown Puzzle sidequest actually much of anything as far as exploration/collecting is concerned, though?

Yeah, 2.5 most likely includes KH2FM and BBSFM. Hopefully announced this or next month.

Hopefully at TGS. I love KH 1, but 2 is my favorite. Its better in just about every area, at least I think so. Plus the final mix changes seem to be greater in 2, than the first game.

I may have to cancel my pre order due to various reasons, though I really do want to get it since KH1 is one of my favorite games. We'll see. Hopefully there are some good deals later on in the year in case I don't get it day 1.

Yeah seeing FFX HD and KH 1.5, bet on 2.5 to include Final Mix as well. And yes, its MUCH better than vanilla KH2.

KH2 FM changes are indeed more dramatic. KH1 FM is pretty much the PAL version of the game. KH2 FM however is something different.

Better than nothing at least. Some of them require the traversal abilities too and there are few that are hidden quite well IIRC.

Yeah, I guess it's roughly equivalent to the 101 Dalmatians stuff from KH1, though without affecting spell upgrades or anything that good.

So fucking ready for this. I don't think I've played KH1 since... 2007? And I've been wanting to experience the Final Mix stuff for years.

#teamshield.
Umm... Well... They get Leaf Bracer and Second Chance early! Yeah! Take that sword!
I never played Proud in KH1 before and originally was gonna go Staff. However, with the shuffling around of abilities, I was thinking about taking Shield for those 2 skills. How significant is the MP loss if I do so?

Also, would leaving at night be the best choice in the long run? I think I remember that being the case but I'm not 100%.

Best place to start, this one in particular is better than you could have played it launch outside of Japan.

Almost all my friends have played the games (or most of them), so yeah... I think I just got turned off by the Disney stuff, but at least it's probably going to be better than FF13 lol.

Square will be holding a launch event for the game at the Downtown Disney District in Anaheim, CA on the Sunday before it launches. If you live around that area please go so I can live vicariously through you.

I think Staff gives 2 MP more than shield or sword. One at the start of the game and one more from leveling up.

Shield gives one more item slot compared to staff or sword tho.

The night thingy really depends. The fastest way to get to lvl 100 is with having night but that indeed causes slower leveling in the beginning.

Excellent OP. Kingdom Hearts has a special place in my heart. I grew up with it. My brother is also a big fan, he'll probably be there day 1 for this.

Deep down I wish 358/2 Days was playable since my brother lost my copy after I first beat it, but whatever. :p

Night is best if you want to 100% the game, but the quick sunrise is probably the way to go if you're doing the speed run in this particular case, so you get all your levels right at the beginning (and even moreso on easy mode with the exp bracelet).

Usually there are quite a few B2G1 free deals for the Holidays. Depending on where you live.
