But it has everything to do with complaining about a schedule.
They have nothing to do with each other. Vancouver will always have the most travel miles no matter what. Having the first home game at the end of October will happen once I hope.

So yea - I know it doesn't mean anything, but the Sens went 7-0 in the preseason. Nice.
This season is taking way too long to start, especially since it already started in London.

It is nice, but I noticed the other night was an overtime win, using most (all?) of their starters, against a Montreal team who was lacking Koivu, Kovalev, Markov, and had Carey "Mr. AHL" Price in net. I didn't see their other games though. *Shrug*

MLSE and the Toronto Maple Leafs have announced that they have proudly acquired goaltender Tim Thomas from the Boston Bruins in exchange for the first 'go' in what was formerly, "go leafs go" and a second round draft pick. Leafs GM John Ferguson Jr. held a conference with Toronto media this morning, declaring his pleasure of acquiring a player who is sure to be a starting goaltender for seasons to come.

:lol :lol

This should be a fun thread/season

I'm looking forward to reading the Habs fans' posts after every single goal this season.

And the beautiful lack of Sens fans on GAF.

Ugh, it's being reported that the Sabres hired Harry Neale to replace the retired Jim Lorenz as their color guy. And I thought the offseason couldn't get any worse.

So who do you think is going to get more points at the end of the season? Sundin or Koivu? My friend and I have a bet going.

Sundin will. Blake should net him plenty of goals.

:lol Luke Richardson made the Sens lineup as a 6th dman, because of injuries, what a fucking joke! He's gonna get 2 minutes of ice time and somehow he's going to end up in the box for 10 minutes of minor penalties.

Me too.
Ryan "f*ckface" Smyth was a poser whereas Jason Smith was a true leader.

Hmm. Will be interesting to see if Gagner sticks. I was pretty sure that they were gonna send him down to the AHL before the season even started.

The problem is they cant send him to the AHL. Its the London Knights or the Oilers.

I don't know why we signed that Maple Leaf drop out. If he's going to get less time then just bring in Brian Lee.

When are they naming the Oiler Captain and Alternates? I've been holding out buying a Hemsky jersey just to see if he gets an "A", though I think there are alot of players ahead of him in that category.

Anson Carter was released. No contract for him. That concussion probably ruined any chance :p

The Oilers roster should look somethin like this

Penner-Horcoff-Hemsky
Torres-Stoll-Nilsson
Moreau-Reasoner-Brodziak
Sanderson-Gagner-Cogliano
Pouliot-Stortini

Souray-Greene
Staios-Pitkanen
Tarnstrom-Smid
Grebeshkov

Roloson
Garon

What? A Sens fan? Where did you come from?

Was here since last year at least. Your selective reading from the embarrassment of your last two seasons probably made you overlook everything Senators. See you Wednesday. ;)

Though I may not be watching the game.

Not bad.

Glad they didn't sign Carter. I don't think he's terrible and hope he gets another shot - just not with the Oilers (I'm looking at you Maple Leafs!).
So many questions. Penner, Nilsson, Gagner, Cogliano, Pitkanen. The potential is definitely there.

regular seasons started but it's another 4 days, 6 hours, 50 minutes and 5 seconds till canucks start.

really lame.

Us Pens fans are going through the same BS. I don't like how the league started up this year. I can understand the London trip, but they should have started the other teams up on Tuesday/Wednesday of this week.

My question is, I live in South Florida, should I give a shit about the Panthers, or is it going to be another painful season? bish, help me out, my dad keeps begging for me to go with him, but everytime I go, it's painful to watch the Panthers have a drug problem- as in, they keep getting drug up and down the rink...

They make really stupid decisions for things that are obvious. The wait for the first game of the finals last season?

raymond and shannon both survived the cuts todays!

i get the feeling isbister will be booth sitting most nights. mciver and edler are the remaining defense man

What is even more lame is that the Canucks have a back to back on Friday/Saturday, then a PPV game next Wednesday, followed by a back to back next Friday/Saturday. So since I don't buy PPV games, it'll be a week before I can watch them again.

Ridiculous. I hate PPV.

Sadly, PPV is the way of the future.

I never really understood why the Leafs ever got rid of Jason Smith. At the time Quinn gave some BS reason that Smith couldn't adapt to the Leafs "fast paced" attack and yet they traded him to the fastest team in the league...

Rumour had it that Smith was banging the GM's daughter at the time and was shipped out for that reason...

EDIT:

Carey Price makes the team and Halak sent to the AHL:

I'd root for Tampa or Atlanta or someone close by if I were you. Even if the Panthers are competitive this year they will be just be a boring Jacques Martin team. Jokinen is a solid player though,

they've got a reasonably good if young team. if horton can stay healthy you can expect a lot more scoring, but their defense is a little weak. vokoun isn't a luongo but he's also a very good back stop.

panthers aren't a bad team but they're not that good either. at least not on paper.

I dunno, I have a brother that's big into like, NHL analysis and stuff and he's pretty convinced they've got a decent chance of making the playoffs.

Vokoun (sp?) in net will be a big improvement for them.

You should always support the local team no matter their record.

Yea Panthers are solid with youth and veterans. The Kings are another team that should sneak into the playoffs if Bernier can stand on his head.

espn lost their credibility very early with me when they placed brent sopel in our top 5, made schneider our backup goalie and gave absolutely no mention of bieksa in their season preview.

showing they know nothing of hockey outside of the rangers, avs and joe thornton.

ESPN's power rankings are usually fairly predictable but not too crazy. CNNSI's are almost logical most of the time, which is rare. TSN's old power rankings, the ones done entirely by some weird never explained "formula", were the funniest batshit insane rankings ever inflicted on sports fans. The email feedback was just sublime the whole season.

Yeah, but as a Dol-Phan, rooting for sucky South Florida sports teams is getting to me. At least there's NASCAR...
