Xbox Fitness Pass (paid subscription service)

Sounds like it could be awesome. I was hoping for a big push for fitness from the Xbox One. Looks like they won't disappoint

I stand by my tag.

Microsoft should just cut the pretense and add a credit card reader to their console. They seem to have their hand out asking for more money at every turn. What "value" is a Gold membership even providing these days?

Why are people surprised about a subscription fee when several big-name professional trainers are involved? They're not going to work for free.

This sounds interesting, I'll definitely try it out during the free period.

People complaining about a subscription fee after the first year ends must not know how much fitness programs cost nowadays.

Why would you need a credit card reader when you have an IR scanner already?

pretty much

and stuff like p90x - Insanity -T25 are not available in Europe (got T25 for like 3 time the price on Ebay), so it would be really awesome to get everything through my X1

That's not the problem. The problem is you have to have two subscriptions to use this. Why put this behind the Xbox Live Paywall as well? That's just needlessly greedy.

I take back what I said. I need a virtual Tony Little in my life.

Services that aren't on competing platforms, even if you have to pay for them.

Because additional services cost money. Do you think they should send you free Insanity/P90X DVDs for having XBLG as well?

I'm guessing that this will continue on getting updates each year.

I'm not interested in this at all but the model could be similar to say, paying a subscription for a sports game series. Heck, sports games are pretty much unplayable without online anyway due to all of the early patches they usually need.

I wouldn't mind paying say, $40 per year for digital NBA 2K on top of paying for Xbox live since I would just see it as me paying for a yearly game franchise (but digitally).

Well obviously not and no one here is implying that they would / should work for free. The implication would be that Microsoft would take the burden of the cost here in order to give more value to a Live subscription. Are you implying that such a scenario is impossible given the amount of resources Microsoft has at their disposal?

The question is not why xbox fitness pass requires a sub. fee, it's why you can't subscribe to it without also subscribing to xblg

No, I think they should let this function without the need for XBLG. Ditto for Netflix, Amazon Prime Video etc. Defend it all you want, but I stand by my assertion that it's needlessly greedy.

It's just like getting a gym membership and then having to pay a separate fee for a personal trainer.

Awesome, so I get to keep my PS+ games even if I do not renew my sub?

WOOOT!!!!

Fitness service could be interesting, really need to see it in action and the cost needs to be pretty small
I think you misunderstood me. I was trying to imply that PS+ games are not free because you have to pay for a service to get them. However I will be getting XBLG and Im stoked about this. Just what I need to motivate me to lose that 20 lbs.

you can pretty much tell that people who buy xbox one will be more successful in life than ps4 owners.

xbox one owners on average will in be a good career earning a good salary (proven by being able to afford an $500 luxury advice with multiple services at a affordable cost). they will on average be better looking and healthy (because they have no problems going on kinect and working out) and they will be more social with the likes of skype.

ps4 owners are fat mommys boys who have to buy the cheaper console because their mommys give them less money to buy with and they're too scared to play online because they have the social skills of a hamburger.

Wow, I guess I had better spend $100 extra on an Xbox One and subscribe to every extra premium service they offer in my quest to become a more complete and well rounded human being. Xbox One, the embodiment of how to win friends and influence people. Thank you, Microsoft. The path has been paved before me. Now I must embark upon it and seize my new life with zeal and new found confidence that only Xbox One can inspire.

On a more serious note, I hope you are just being sarcastic.

Pretty awesome. Still cheaper than most gym memberships. Stat tracking would be awesome too.

If it's say a $60 a year after November 2014, on top of Gold then this is a pretty good deal. Typically, the cheapest monthly gym membership is $20 or so. That's before you go through any personal training if you need any. Beach Bodies, the company the puts Insanity and P90x out, could really look into offering a crazy new program based around the kinect that could work as well as some personal training services.

ah sorry!

I don't see how this is different from any other service

i.e Music Unlimited for Sony should be free by some logic here after they start charging for online with the PS4?

It is not being forced on anyone and is beneficial for those who do want to take part

A+ Chinner post.

Would read again.

The best part is seeing that all of GAF's sarcasm detectors are broken.

And paying 500 bucks for the room in the gym, and having a few million people also paying 500 bucks in that room but the stats you get at the end of the workout are yours to keep.

Nah i never said that but if MS can pay 500 thousand millions billions to get American sport thingy deals. Im sure they can atleast give them a few billions each and lets us poor fools have it for free (i mean only paying for one sub)?

Not quite, it'll depend on the subscription cost and duration. It's essentially $499 + $60 + Y to get started. Most of these training programs are available in videos.

Unless you pirate them or find them.on ebay, the videos are typically pretty expensive. Like $150-$200. If this is subscription based and you get access to each program, then it's not that bad.

That sounds really cool. But two subscriptions? Come on.

This was my exact thought actual. Would be really cool if it was free for people that bought XBL, greater incentive to have it.

See I think you're being sarcastic but some people on this site suprise me with their comments so I have no clue.

If you're not, take a look at the mirror and apologize to yourself for saying THE dumbest thing I have seen on neogaf thus far.*

*Only if you're not being sarcastic. Requires a second subscription.

All joking aside, this is the truth. I just can't help but take a jab at all of these extra paid services that are being pushed through what used to be just gaming consoles. I go to the gym to work out, and I buy a console to play games. That is just how I see it. But if this is what some want, then hey, more power to them. It's there for those that do.

Well if the second subscription includes the fitness programs (like P90 and Insanity) then that wouldn't be bad, those thing are pretty expensive afaik
