Playstation Plus Thread 2: How do I hold all these games?

Does anyone know when the next yearly IGC is to be announced?, am I right in thinking the replacements [for Gravity Rush, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Spec Ops: The Line etc] will be provided soon? As most of them were added on 7th November 2012, this is for the UK.

Holy fuck the controls in Shadow of the Colossus are so awful that I can't play the game. It seems fun and epic, but I have no patience for terrible controls. And this grip meter, ugh.

I need some PSN help.

I just bought Limbo of the store, but it only downloaded the unlock key, not the game itself.
After reading a bit, it seems that I may have downloaded the demo before, deleted it, and I need to download it again.
Problem is I never downloaded the demo, and after purchasing the unlock key, I don't have the option on the store.

I grabbed the demo from a different acount, but now the question is - is it the full game or just the demo? How can I tell the difference?

Any ideas?

Which controls? The reigns for Agro?

Everything feels like crap. Getting on the horse, walking around, moving the camera when you use that dagger of light, climbing anything, stabbing. It's just slow, clunky, and unresponsive.

I stuck with it for 30 minutes before I bought Okami.

I think they actually screwed up the grip in the HD remaster or something. Seems like for every minute you spend attached to a colossus, you spend 58 seconds being flailed around helplessly. It's not fun at all.

In the recent EU PS+ update the following was asked

@Chris: Nice to see you ignoring the question bout the 3rd PS3 game and if Uncharted / Gravity Rush will be replaced this month.
Must be some bad news incoming since they love to skip the “difficult” questions as usual.

In response the store manager replied

Uncharted Golden Abyss and Gravity Rush will be remaining in the service at the moment

Whether that means for the remainder of october or going forward for a couple of months, who knows.

Are you sure that's not how it was in the original? I remember having to go hunt lizards and fruit to increase the duration of my grip.

And yeah, the camera is bad and needs a more modern fix. But I believe the game more than makes up for it with the atmosphere it creates. Definitely my favorite game on PS2,but don't force yourself to play it if you don't like it.

The duration of the grip gauge isn't the problem, it's the fact that I don't get two seconds to stab a fucker because he's swinging me around like a dead cat.

Glad it's not just me. The game itself seems like an awesome concept. I never owned a PS2 for too long so I never played SotC. But from my brief, brief time with it, it seems like a lot of fun. Very epic, solo adventure feel to it. Like a Skyrim with no annoying people and repetitive quests, instead with awesome boss encounters.

Shame because I really want to play it. And too bad my super slim PS3 can't play PS2 games.

That's exactly it.

If you can see the trophy list, then it's the full game.

Fair enough. I know a lot of people complain about the Agro controls, but when you understand what they're going for they make more sense.

I'm not sure I understand this. It's been some time since I played it (and I haven't played the remaster), but the grip meter is there to get you through those sections right? Is it fundamentally different to the original, because managing grip is an integral part of climbing the colossi.

Yeah, but, in theory, it's a mangeable part. The problem isn't that you run out of grip strength. Is that your character doesn't hold on tight enough to actually accomplish anything. If you had unlimited grip power, you'd still never be able to land a blow because you're too busy hanging on for dear life as you're getting whipped around.

The sections where the colossi is thrashing around are finite though, the point being to co-ordinate your attacks for the times when it settles down and to manage the grip accordingly. As I say it's been a while so I don't want to disagree and find that I'm not remembering well (or that there are issues with the remaster), it just sounds like you're describing what is the essence of the colossi fight mechanics.

They don't seem too finite any more. I don't remember having nearly this much trouble in the SD version but the vast majority of the HD fights seem to consist of waiting for an opportunity to stab and then pulling back to stab and being interrupted by more waiting.

Apparently if you latch on to the colossus in a certain way you can get a "perfect grip" where they can't shake you and you can get in lots of stabs. Happened to me a couple of times. http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/ico-collection-shadow-colossus/129451-perfect-grip.html

Another thing I'm wondering, how the hell are Sony going to make the store usable on the PS4 with so many more users if it is shit now. Downloading KoA and only getting ~14Mbps down. Would be nice to max my pipe... (and I hope the PS4 UI/OS is much more responsive and streamlined. Cleaning out the hdd for extra space too way too long to delete stuff and find stuff to delete)

Sorry if this is answered somewhere in the thread, but how is this going to be handled on the PS4? I know Resogun and Conquest are going to be PS+ games on Day One, but is this just an insentitive to buy early, or will this continue month to month, or resume in the new year? Thanks for any info that can be provided!

If you're referring to giving away free games to PS+ members, there's no reason to believe it won't continue indefinitely, just as it's been doing for what.. a few years now? Those particular games won't always be available, but the basic concept of PS+ should remain unchanged.

My friend who has almost only plays 360 except for at my house is going to go PS4 next gen. I've been telling him about Playstation Plus and his mind is blown. Gonna try to convince him to get the Black Friday GameStop PS3 bundle as well to get him caught up on a bunch of games, especially since his 360 just got stolen.

Yes that's what I am talking about, I skipped the PS3 so I didn't know if this was going to continue automatically or Resogun/Conquest are just an insentitive to buy early, thanks for the help though!

1 new PS4 (indie) game per month and Driveclub PS+ Edition whenever it launches. So far they've announced Don't Starve, Outlast, Secret Ponchos, and The Binding of Isaac Rebirth coming to the service.

Assuming you're talking about the PS3 version in Europe:
Here is the link to the PS3 demo. If it's available, see if you can obtain it and push it to your PS3 through the download queue.

That is exactly how it was the PS2 version. It might seem a bit more chaotic due to the improved frame rate.

So it won't be like it is now on the PS3? One game a month instead of two? Not complaining, free games are free games.

Perhaps it's an issue with the remaster then (did it get any balancing changes). :(

We don't know. I suspect initially the games will be thin on the ground, or perhaps we'll see more titles like Driveclub (a PS+ edition) - as soon as there's a solid library hopefully we'll see more retail.

I find a lot of my time is taken up with PSN games now anyway, so the smaller titles are welcome. I'll pick up my occasional retail title physically.

I mean I am also going to buy PSN games, because I love to support devs if I enjoy the product, all the games will be mine! Thanks for the insight though!

Isn't Binding of Isaac Rebirth only for PS+ members in Europe?
I'm not so sure about that now that Resogun has been confirmed for the US. When Resogun, TBoIR, AC3 PS3, and the free 90 days with a year sub offer were originally announced at Gamescom the US team only clarified that AC3 and 90 day promo were Euro only. I figured they would have also mentioned TBoIR as Euro only if that was the case.

I think for the first year it will be like that. I mean how many games can they give away? The ps4 will have just come out, That or they do more Drive Club stripped down versions

Yea I'm fine with this, I mean it's cool that they do this, I was just curious since Resogun/Conquest are free on Day One, so I didn't know if it was going to consistently be two, or be one for the first year or so.

That actually brings up an interesting question, though. Given that PS+ is more of a "requirement" this time around (for online play), what are the odds that they might drop down on the number of free titles/discounts for PS+ members, or do away with it entirely? It's still the biggest incentive for me (I don't play online much), but it might not be for a lot of other people, who may stay subscribed regardless of how they handle the game thing.

It seems unlikely, I know, but I suppose it's a possibility.

It's the downside to one sub that covers all three platforms and a low PS4 userbase. They're gonna downgrade the PS3 to two new games every month so the PS4 can get it's 1 new indie game a month.

I wouldn't be surprised if next November they downgrade the PS3 games further so they can start offering some PS4 retail games alongside an indie/PSN game.

The only reason the first month is 2 games is because Driveclub PS+ edition was supposed to stick around till next November. Since they delayed DC they decided to included Contrast as it's replacement instead of just offering 1 game.

I had Uncharted 3 game tied to my account from back when it was on PS+, and I went to re-download it today because the first time I downloaded it and tried to install it I got an error message. I ignored it until now and just never bothered to figure it out.

I got to about 15 minutes left on the single player portion of the download and ended up hitting download in background, then my screen went black. It wouldn't come back no matter how long I waited so I was forced to force reset my PS3 by holding down the power button... with the HDD activity light a solid yellow.

My PS3 rebooted, but wouldn't go into the XMB. The ribbon background came up, but was moving in extreme slow motion, freezing sometimes, then resuming moving in slow motion. Eventually the screen went black again. HDD activity light a solid yellow, again.

No idea what to do. Is my HDD dead? This is a slim PS3, 500GB I think.

EDIT: Managed to get into the safe mode. Trying a restore now, but the progress bar isn't moving.

Oh wow I'm dumb, phone has been autocorrecting "Contrast" to "Conquest" lol, I apologize for not catching it

No worry I just wondered if Sony was giving us one more free title at launch...they are already giving us like seven.. Whoever says Sony's PS4 launch lineup is week. You have MANY games to play even if you don't buy anything but the system. lol

I never played SotC on PS2, and I just finished the HD version a few days ago. Not having played TLoU, Beyond: Two Souls, or Puppeteer yet, SOTC-HD replaces Heavy Rain as my vote for best PS3 exclusive. It is just a perfect game outside of some clunky controls (and I got over those quickly).

Imo, it proves that you don't need all the graphical niceties to make a beautiful looking game. Art direction and presentation mean so much more.

I am not getting a PS4 at launch. Is there any way I can get the PS4 games at least in a download list so I can get all the PS+ PS4 games they put up from now until when I pick up a system? I'd hate to miss out on Resogun, Contrast, Don't Starve, and Outlast.

Use the store via your net browser on your PC.

December PS3 update hasn't been announced yet but if I had to bet I'd say PS4 version only

lol, well no worries then I'm still getting it as I wish to support the dev =)
Contrast is releasing soon on Steam so I assume it'll be on US PSN at the same time, though I would love for there to be a pre-order for it as early as the 29th >_<
