Not a great comparison, but the motion blur and lighting improvements make the biggest differences. And the AA obviously got better as well.

I'd pay good money to have a motion blur on/off switch in racing games. Not the announcement I was hoping them to make, I've been hoping Sony asked them to delay and make 60fps happen, otherwise this game is a non event IMO. Getting quite screwed on the racing front with NFS being 30 too, it's just not good enough for racing games.

We might get it in January or March. Well Early 14' is January, but March would be even better as people will have money.

Definitely can't have it launch in February(Duh).

Anybody remember the Motorstorm: Pacific Rift dev cycle? There was a significant leap in graphics over the span of a couple months in the run-up to launch. Evolution has secret sauce. I'm sure the game will greatly benefit from the delay.

I also seem to remember one of Evolution devs in an interview saying that though ultimately the PS4 is easier to develop for, going from the PS3's Cell PowerPC architecture to X86 of the PS4 was somewhat challenging for the studio development process/tools. Maybe this delay and such a noticeable end-dev cycle jump in quality is linked to that. They are just more comfortable now with the new processes.

It was at the time, it has come an especially long way since then. If anything the delay reaffirmed my fears back then, they said it was only 35% complete, well looks like they needed more time after all. Now it's probably the best... granted they are getting extra time now.

Motion blur and Anti aliasing are massive improvements.

OH SHIT!!! Now that "Perfect Day" Drive Club sequence makes sense. With this new build and the opposing driver barrelling into the featured car, what if you can ram your opponent into a guard rail, causing damage just like in the commercial, hell maybe even flipping him. What if it is a take on NASCAR where you are on a team and you run interference for the front runner who may be on your team.

Man I am starting to glad they delayed it if they can keep getting improvements like this until their early 2014 release. I prefer Contrast as a PS+ offering as it was, since it's a complete game. Hype...slowly...generating...

Hope they give more info on the career and stuff.

Also anyone think its weird that they built up the first person racing in the reveal event but it has a pretty standard first person view. Was expecting something like N4S shit and Project Cars. Maybe the career has some first person out of car stuff?

Like this kind of view?

So short....darn it.

Looks good from what little I saw.

Should be a good arcade racer to fool around in. The extra time they put in will only help.

I don't know if the video is a perfect capture, but outside of the first second it holds around/above 30fps (30-32)

Video may not be a great indicator though.

I just noticed there's no HUD in this teaser. Replay mode?

LOL, between this and the Forza thread...I swear all people care about are HUDs and how they function in a racing game. Who cares about the HUD people...geez.

also, imo looks like we don't need them to try for 60fps, it looks brilliantly smooth.

I can very much see the difference between 30 and 60, but I'm ok with 30 in graphics heavy arcade racers. As long as the sense of speed and motion blur is right, a rock solid 30fps can deliver.

Seems they are making good use of the additional time, it looks much more consistent now. Need a longer video and BlimBlim though.

its supposed to look even better than this? h-how?

Motion blur made PGR3 look pretty smooth back in the day, it is definitely helping here as well.

The right amount of motion blur and good AA really make all the difference.

Soon....

Yeah, interior and exterior lighting still doesn't look quite as good as that gif, but given the extra time they have now, I have no doubts this game will be absolutely gorgeous by release.

Them comparing the handling to PGR is also really exciting.

Track confirmed:

This is Sentraltind. Norway is an incredible place!

:)

Quick description of the handling:

It's not really "arcade" OR "simulation". We've designed it to bring fans of both together, to make a racing game that's fun and challenging without being intimidating.

So if you've never applied the brakes in a racing game before you'll need to learn that pretty quickly, but it's easy to get to grips with and you'll pick up the key skills as you earn the right to race faster and more powerful cars.
If you're a seasoned driver, well versed in the art of racecraft, you can make use of a wide range of advanced driving techniques that you'd expect to employ in a simulator, like trail braking, feathering the throttle and Scandinavian flicks to name just a few.

I still hope they go back to Motorstorm once GT is on track on the PS4.

I'd actually buy another Motorstorm Apocalypse now.
This isn't a replacement to GT.

It's a different type of game, it's not a pure simulation at all. It's more akin to Horizon or PGR as stated by the developers themselves.
