If taken or patched out or whatever, Link's Awakening would be near perfect in my eyes. The dialogue before bosses too can be pretty annoying and unnecessary, but I still say Koholint Island is the most fun I've had traversing in a top down Zelda game, there simply is something to find or do on every square inch of the map.

I'm going on a Zelda marathon. Finishing up WW HD now, then ALBW after that. Then I'm going to get Ocarina 3D. Then after that, I'm going to replay TP. Then close it out with a SS replay.

If I change my mind, I'll let you know. I want a fully updated, accurate opinion of every game without any nostalgia or bits forgotten.

I am pretty confident that TP will still be at the top for me, but we'll see! I'm keeping an open mind. I'll keep an eye on those dungeons, but I don't remember disliking any of them. The OST is the best in the series. The support character, Midna, is easily the best in the series. The horse combat is probably the best of any game ever made. And really, double hookshot alone almost makes this no contest for me.

WW HD is a lot shorter than I remembered, so my opinions are shifting slightly. I know it's been altered a bit (and having a map on your controller REALLY speeds shit up in this game in particular), and the swift sail is glorious.

Most likely not. It's a special case because;

1) It's a print copy and so has to get reviews into the public eye sooner than internet embargos allow
2) It's the first numbered review we've got AND a 10/10
3) This Zelda in particular has been received somewhat contentiously by fans, so anticipation for reviews has been eager

I would normally say i will wait for the eurogamer review but i was going to buy this game no matter what. 10/10 just makes it more exciting.

I disliked TP, but the hate the game gets is insane. I haven't enjoyed a Zelda since the WW... I hope this one's good!

Not getting hyped. Zelda has been disappointing me for a decade, and every game always gets a perfect 10 from a few outlets. Here's hoping it's as great as they say, but I'd rather keep my expectations low until I play it myself.

Super Mario 3D World, Zelda: Legend of Zelda: Link Between Worlds, Pokémon X/Y, Senran Kagura Burst, Disgaea D2, Fate-Guided Paradox, Etrian Odyssey IV, as well as a potential Vita purchase are all of the reasons I'm not picking a PS4 up at launch. That's not even taking into account the HUNDREDS of other titles in my backlog. ~_~

The games, they just keep on coming!

I'm already bombarded with amazing games and thinking of getting a WiiU/Vita soon, there's no need for a PS4 atm... plus, there's nothing to play on it like any console at launch, unless you like Killzone.


I wish we got the "harder difficulty" before having to finish the game.

It's not too bad. WW HD is new for me, having just played it on Gamecube obviously. All the social features are amazing and the controller is awesome. I certainly won't sleep through the brand new ALBW. Ocarina in 3D will be new to me, having never played it in 3D.

Only ones I'll be replaying are TP and SS, and I played TP a long time ago. SS is impossible to sleep through with all the motion controls!

Hero mode is available from the start in WW HD. Are we sure ALBW's Hero mode has to be unlocked?

When its the first review and its a game a lot of people are anticipating its definitely thread worthy. When all the other reviews are rolling in, I assume we will gather them all in one review thread.

I don't see how besting LA is completely out of the picture. LA was basically a miniature version of ALttP with cool and innovative dungeon design, while this one looks like ALttP on crack. I have no doubt this game could potentially be the greatest 2D Zelda of all time.

I don't think it's been confirmed that Hero Mode has to be unlocked, has it? It'd be great to play on the harder difficulty from the start since Zelda games haven't exactly been challenging for me [although I love them all the same, so it doesn't impact me too much].

You're right, though. It's definitely an exciting [and sometimes stressful] time to be a gamer, especially if you own multiple consoles/handhelds. It can be challenging to decide what to play next with so many incredible titles out there, with more upcoming. I've already decided to put everything on hold when Super Mario 3D World comes out, and then I'll play Link Between Worlds afterwards. Hopefully I can finish up Fire Emblem Awakening and Tales of Xillia by then...

But seriously, I am getting somewhat hype for this. Sounds like straight up link on dungeon action. hope the overworld is as mysterious as it is in alttp.

Yes it has been confirmed. Hero Mode is only available after finishing the game.
