He has a Yukiko avatar from the chibi 3ds game guys
The Persona series has always maintained a very tight theme with the high school setting. It started with high-schoolers in Persona 1. Persona 2, while expanding the pool of characters and setting quite a bit, still began with and centered around a high school setting. Persona 3 and 4 were extremely tied to the high school setting. All four of these games have dark themes (admittedly, 4 less so, but there's still death and murder abound). Hell, Persona 3 was incredibly dark, and yet at the time was the most tied to the high school age and setting. In no way does high school imply adolescent nonsense. In no way does maturity = quality. I don't see how sticking to the franchise's overall theme is "the kiss of death". I would have preferred college, yes, but I think high school could be just as good, and given how dark the teaser seemed, who knows? It could be the most mature Persona yet.
Also, college is where mature people go? LOL. I met way more immature people in college than in high school.
Side note: Just because there's school chairs doesn't mean it can't be college. Many colleges use those same chairs.
You telling me the protag got 1m dong or what

Having never played persona from duckrolls quote it sounds like it will be centered around graduation.
20.
And that was a placebo effect in P4: Naoto kept trying to tell them that there wasn't any alcohol in those drinks.
New details from Dengeki apparently.
- Persona 5 started development after Catherine’s ended in August 2011.
- At that time they wanted to develop it for the mobile. (I think here he means portables (Vita/PSP) than mobile phone.)
.
That doesn't make any sense since they said the whole time that Catherine was designed as an engine test for HD megaten.
That'd be weird to do that and then be like "let's make a PSP game!" Really, really weird. It's not like their engine test Catherine was a failure or anything. Turned out really well.
I assume the target platform was gonna be Vita originally, not PSP. I mean we're talking about a game that would come out in late 2013 at it's earliest. persona isn't that niche. That doesn't make any sense since they said the whole time that Catherine was designed as an engine test for HD megaten.

So what's the hint in the picture with the chairs? don't see shit.
if i squint real hard and (very liberally) interpret the chains as letter, they sort of look like they spell out SEBEC maybe? i doubt that's intentional.
The duration of Persona 3 and Persona 4 is a whole school year, so I doubt it.

3rd class protag, I think its very possible. And I do interested in that.
Hmm, idk. I could see graduation+summer+first semester or something. IDK. I'm gonna track down a used copy of p4 and try to get an emulator going on my pc. This winter is the perfect time.
They're causing a "chain reaction". Could be the main theme? Some have come up with the theory that chairs appearing causing a chain to be added to the previously established chair could be symbolic of something. That might or might not be the hint he's referring to, though.

Atlus, this is the final insult. After you killed any semblance of maturity present in the series with Arena--you proceed to spit on the franchies corpse with Persona 4 Golden. Now, with your final chance to restore the dark themes present in the eariler games--you blew it. High school automatically begets adolescent nonsense. College is were mature people go, if any of the staff at Atlus had actually gone to college you'd know that.
Look to Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith, Atlus. Lucas went with a grim, dark, and dare I say: mature story--it paid off tenfold. It was the most mature chapter in the saga--which led to the most quality entry in the series. Dark themes = maturity = quality. Do you understand this, Atlus? Maturity is what we wanted, now that's all out the window. The High School setting again is the kiss of death for this franchise.
Sleep well, true Persona. This series is dead.
You mean from the translated interview? If so, there's a chance that it's fake? All that info seems fairly reasonable.
I take "graduation" and "graduating year" to mean two very different things.
Doesn't mean that the game would revolve around graduation, unless you think that the game would no longer have the long schedule format of P3 and P4 and would only take place across a few days or weeks instead of an entire school year?
eehh, those bits I think were from the earlier fake 2ch/twitter shit before the real deal arrived... nobody is reporting that...
What you talking about? .. Graduation doesn't mean just for few days, its process to that extremely tiring, especially for senior, the theme could be about period that you must study harder than ever, thinking about college exam.. mounting stress.
P3/P4 format can working. Maybe for even better.

As for the hint in the trailer with the chairs and chains, I think I got it! Persona tends to be based off of Jungian philosophy, right? P4 was the collective unconscious.
Well, when one chair appears causing a chain to appear on the previous chair, it could be referring to another of Jung's theories. Synchronicity. I think this game will be based around the theme of synchronicity. Cool!
I wish Atlus would like go to Sony or something and see if they would give them the resources to port to PS4 simultaneously, that's a pretty decent exclusive to have on your new console.
Really though, i don't want to have to busy a PS3 for this

Why not? especially we gonna fight monster on the process too.. its could get very thematic as long the execution is there.I take "graduation" and "graduating year" to mean two very different things.
Have you played P3 and 4? Please no more studying than we already had. Unless we don't lose a day doing it anymore.

Think they'll use character portraits for dialogue again? I think Catherine handled it pretty well but it had much less dialogue than a Persona game.
P4? I could understand.. but who suckers that studying in P3? Just play ding dong and your stat maxed up yo

...Huh? I'm saying that the person I quoted mentioned "graduation." That's not the same thing as "graduating year", which is what I think you're talking about.
I get it, I mean its seem you implying its can't be tied together, which is rather weird for me.

That would be so awesome! Really hoping for multiple main characters. At least 2. A male and female route. 5 would be too much awesome. The trailer, combined with what's known about the game's theme, did give a feeling of "chained together". My only issue is that while synchronicity can work with the current Social Link system, it would be done better with multiple protagonists.
Then again, there were 5 main chairs...

- Persona 5 started development after Catherines ended in August 2011.
- At that time they wanted to develop it for the mobile. (I think here he means portables (Vita/PSP) than mobile phone.)
- However, they realised that majority of the fans/players wanted HD, so they decided on developing it for HD machines (aka PS3) instead.
- There is a hint hidden in the 5 chairs and chains.
- They are aware that a lot of people are hoping that Persona 5 can be released on the next generation machines (AKA PS4), however they have very limited development resources and are unable to do it.
- The specs for PS4 are wonderful.
- There will be more information for P5, at the start of next year.

They probably meant vita now THAT would have been a hilarious meltdown
You sound like a very condescending person
Maybe we'll get a bancho-ass Persona game. Long skirts and cool black uniforms forever!
Hashino has stated in multiple interviews that he believes the core themes of persona to be High School, friends, and Personas.
Persona's one of the few series where I don't want it to go grimdark. The happy world of Persona 4 really made the darkness stand out, and made it really fantastic.
