It starts up and i could play Quick Game and My Career was on the menu too but i haven't tried it yet. I suspect i'll have to start a new offline profile? I'll give it a go later, i've nothing to lose as i haven't really started properly yet.

Careful, there is a 'thing' whereby once you are offline it converts your VC to some sorta 2K 'Skill Points' or some shizz and you can't covert them back to VC .. so you'd have to start all over again ...

This is only the first step guys, Always Online for every game is coming. I and many others have the capability to handle this but millions of potential buyers are screwed.

My biggest fear is what happens to a game when the servers are turned off. Once those servers are gone, your $60 game disc is only useful as a coaster. I don't buy games with built-in obsolescence.

Wow, what? My PS4 is usually connected so I didn't know about this, but the other day my connection dropped while looking at the Whats New section. If this happened in game and the game just quit I wouldn't be impressed.

Funny thing is that gameplay isn't that good. I never had the game crash on me but then again I don't play that gm mode or my player crap (which also means I'll never get access to The Park thanks to this 2K's shitty menus and dumbfounding decisions) I'm a one season or NBA today type of guy but even this is a mess as the NBA today is not always available, sometimes disappearing completely from the menus. When it's on, the real life video piss me the hell off cause it's just the play of the day that last about 15-20seconds and just repeats itself, just great...

On the court, once the shine of that new player scan technology wears off you realize some players look like crap, the passes are horrible, you still get sucked in animations, way too many three pointers, horrible rebounding from your A.I, no team mascots, no cheerleaders, a lot less photographers under the basket, buggy warmups just appear and disappear, this coming from a company that claims they counted the amount of lights on the stadium and have special attention to details... Big fat lol.

Another stupid decision would be to have you downloading the roster each time you want to play and I'm not joking but on their fucking servers this sometimes takes me up to 10minutes, sometimes it's instant and then the rosters would stay by default on NBA today which is the mode that's supposed to be up-to-date all the time... And then, once you get the new roster it's always outdated, somehow 2K can't do what a single dedicated guy does for free.

Don't get me started on restrictive CAP, barebones editing of rosters, some settings not saving for some reason, the fact that it's on XBox One yet still has shitty online, etc...

This is even worse for people that play the game just for online leagues,association mode and what not. I will still pop the game and do a quick NBA today (setting quarter minutes up to 6 somehow fucks with the player of the game and individual replays...) but that's about it. Visual Concepts is a shady company, no doubt about it, can't believe they are being rewarded with so many accolades and good reviews considering the shit they pull. They are truly lucky the only other alternative is From EA sports. NBA 2K15 will get immediate pass from me.
These guys are so fucking out there they didn't even feel the need to release a demo.

When I jump to go in for a check / rebound and the opposition score, my jump button press is buffered and kept until the ball is inbound again .. and then I jump whilst running up the court on offence for no reason whatsoever ..

I love NBA 2K games but I'm not sure where they're going now. Always online, microtransactions and DLC are NOT the future. The money they gain now, I feel they'll lose it back later because their fans will be bored about this crap.

Plus, the next gen version really feels too arcady again, it's like NBA JAM 2K14 right now, no defense. They had made some progress but it seems gone now.

Please, 2K, stop with all this shit, we want a simulation.

we can live without their games,they can't live without our money..they'll quickly check what is the problem and fix it.

The PC version is actually the last-gen version for some reason. Don't know if it has VC or not, doubt it requires the always online connection.

Thank god this was a false alarm. I bought this game digital and would not have been able to return if for any money if it were true.

I have a feeling always online is going to be a common practice midway through this gen though. It's obvious Activision is trying to make destiny their next big thing when Cod loses its steam. The division is one of Ubisofts biggest games. And well titanfall. I'd bet that most new western rpgs (new ip wise) will shift toward always online.

But at least some of those games justify it. If I wasn't able to play NBA2k14 offline after paying $60 for it because of some stupid microtransaction bull shit then I would have flipped.

Mycareer depends, for some it will say you need the saves from 2k servers.
